As a local, Broadway at the beach and Walmart really isn't that bad, as lines are normal compared to other Walmarts and weekends stuff really doesn't change much in terms of Walmart being busy, i will say the helicopter tours is a scam tho

Locals love the state park pier for fishing.

Extreme Pizza & Melt are great little restaurants at Broadway Beach.

Trying to make the move from ny to sc, originally i wanted to move to myrtle beach because my retail store would do alright there. But, the house prices are way out of my range. We have saved for alot of years and have a nice down payment, been looking more towards Columbia now.

How do you feel about Barefoot Landing? I was there at the holidays and enjoyed walking around. It reminded me of Disney Springs. Broadway at the Beach felt kind of deserted by comparison. The Ferris Wheel is really pretty though.

I think the helicopter ride is worth doing at least once in your life it’s very short but fun but I agree with the whole list

Everything there to do fun is so over priced that's y I never go and it's always overcrowded. I agree with you on a lot of what you said heck I live only 4 hrs away and have only came about 4 times. I have to save up boats loads of money just to come have a great time

Spot on. We only hit Broadway and barefoot during "locals" season. IMHO service levels almost always go up after Labor day and before Memorial day

I'd still rather pay the $35-$45 for all I could eat than the same amount for one plate.

I used to live in a beach town in Virginia Beach, VA so some of what you said I can relate too but the reality is you may have friends and family that come to visit you and they want to check out some of the water sports or attractions so you might take them. My son and I was in Myrtle Beach all last week (last week of June 2023) for our annual father and son vacation and I can tell you when I went to Walmart to stock up on items we were in and out in no time. We went to the Walmart about 8 minutes from the airport. Speaking of stores to maybe avoid and there seems to be a boat load of these stores is all the Candy stores! I was like why is there is so many candy stores! I like candy and all but was surprised to see so many of them. I heard the helicopter rides was a big ripoff and I didn’t even put that on our list besides I’m a drone pilot and I had my drone in the air for some amazing shots. Parking at the boardwalk was insane. I think I paid close to $30 for two hours! That is ridiculous! We didn’t eat out not one time we were in MB. We picked up some Wendy’s, Chick-Fil-A; ate at the hotel two days. We were frugal in that regard lol. Also I’m all about traveling smart and looking for discounts for the attractions. I found a really good Groupon deal for Broadway Grand Prix that for $84 got us all day unlimited rides for two people on all the go karts, bumper cars, and mini golf until it closed. That was a good deal. I found similar deals for the Dolphin boat cruises too. I live in a state where there is no sales tax so I was trying to save money as much as I could lol. You mentioned finding some local lake or pond to fish in instead of the pier, but don’t you have to be on a lookout for alligators in such places? Speaking of fishermen catching crazy stuff off the pier, while I was flying my drone in North Myrtle Beach I saw a guy fishing on the beach and he caught a good size Stingray!!! 😮 Broadway at the Beach was a ton of fun and a great place to buy souvenirs. We didn’t do any of the rides except the Jet Boat Ride which was so worth it!!! That ride was insanely fun!!!

As a local, saying "subpar, substandard food, with terrible service". Wow. Just wow. Hopefully locals don't say that about your real estate business. Yikes.

Forgive if you've answered this question yet... but are there any public outdoor swimming pools (besides Conway) that we "non-community pool" residents can join each summer? We thought our development was planning a pool when we purchased. No such luck. We love the ocean. But sometimes we just want to float around in a pool or lazy river.

Avoid Myrtle Beach on Memorial Day Week, period. Black Bike Week is the worst time to go to Myrtle Beach. We quit going to Myrtle Beach then back in the early 90's when it got out of hand. Crime is rampant and it is not safe for your family. I feel sorry for the local police during this time.

The point about the myrtle beach branded stuff is a bit silly . A lot of NY locals love wearing NY branded things , same for Myrtle beach . I think if it’s in a cute or classy way it’s not shamed. You should be so proud of where you live that you would love to wear it .

It's common sense to not fish in the pier.... Again any REAL fisherman goes out for the day on boats. That's common sense???

........ Ummmmmm there's 13 Walmarts in horry county. Again a true local knows which ones to go to..you obviously don't go to the ones closest to the resorts. Go the the neighborhood markets..... Smh

I've gotten tshirts at the beach stores and still have them... Educate yourself, newbie. And a lot of people do go to Walmart which are in every corner and tons of locals wear Myrtle Beach embroidered clothes. Again if yourena true local you'll know which tourist stores have amazing quality and great clothes.. and Broadway is pretty sweet. You're one of those people who find reasons to complain.

I try to blend in with locals. After years of vacationing I guess I’m a local haha. Food is the main reason we go, found great seafood places if you know how to look (or ate at every place imaginable) Biminis is one of my favorites.
