The facts in your explanation have been the most useful in ALL (100+) videos I have watched on this issue. How may I repay you for your efforts?

Nice explanation, Thank you. But I think the automated system you mentioned at the end does exist in Fuji cameras. It's a nice feature to have.

Does efcs hurt your shutter looking at the shutter limit?

That logic you explained at the end of the video is so simple, it should be built into every camera with EFCS function. Use EFCS when it is not degrading the picture, turn it off when it is a problem. Really besides the fast shutter speed, large aperture should be monitored as well if I understood you correctly. Above 2.8 any shutter speed would be fine right? At 2.8 1/4000 or faster is no good.

Electronic shutter is the future, but there are issues with it that require better technology to resolve. EFCS was devised as a kind of stop gap until sensor design reached that point. We're starting to get there, with cameras like the Z9 eschewing the mechanical shutter all together. Soon I think we'll see sensor readouts get so fast that mechanical shutters won't be put on anything except the cheapest cameras. The higher end cameras will almost certainly eventually get global shutters which eliminate all issues intrinsic with a rolling shutter (banding, the jello effect, etc).

A really intelligent explanation of shutter mechanisms. Really appreciated.

It's a strange... feature indeed. If shutter shake is a thing, we can just increase the shutter speed, or make it heavier with a rig/tripod right?
I was so tempted to get the A7C, but the EFCS can't be turned off, which made it a dealbreaker. So this basically means the A7C can only shoot up to 1/2000 technically, if I want perfect images, which is worse performance than the basic standard of 1/4000.

Thank you. You read my mind. Always wondered about this. I wonder if leaving this function off means every photo counts as 2 shutter clicks.
