She had an adventure and came out with a new perspective. I really doubt any who took part in looking for her where upset but happy with finding her/her finding them and she was "fine".

I think we should all hit the trails with supplies for "just in case" scenarios. Especially in more wilderness areas. After getting lost in the woods with two dogs and one bottle of water in mid 90 degrees for 7 hours...I can relate! Never again have I been unprepared. Madeline will not be either. It can happen to the best of us thinking its only going to be a short hike.

I like that this ended well. I like that the hiker was found. However, I will likely not click on any more of your videos because of your video title, which is misleading, and Clickbait like. When you said in the title that she paid dearly… That is the part that is misleading. There was no reason to use Clickbait in your title.

If you dont want to pack gear, hike only in places where you know you can alert others. I spend a lot of time in county parks that feel empty and wild, but where i know someone will hear hollering. Especially if you are inexperienced or simply getting older! I used to boulder alone, but I'm 53 and a couole years ago, some other hikers asked me to please get down (i was on a large boulder, leaning over a river to reach some branches to forage from), ,i gave somebody a panic attack, and i realized it was time to stop doing that nonsense.

Maybe eating unsalted sunflower seeds while hiking is the solution? So it leaves a little trail of shells behind you to be followed incase you get lost? 🤔

There is a distinct possibility that the dog (Mogie) was somewhat of a deterrent for the grizzly bears. I recall the part where a grizzly bear walked in Madeline's tracks. It obviously could smell the dog as well as the woman. The Grizzly prints prove that there were grizzlies in the area. The grizzlies may have been well fed, and not ready to try to attack a human with a dog. I think that Mogie may have saved Madeline's life, and I also give credit to Madeline's self control, good spirits, and persistence. Hooray for both of them!!

I'm glad she is alright and I am sure she will use what she has learned from her journey not to make those same mistakes again. I used to hike and backpack in Michigan's upper peninsula and thoroughly enjoyed those days. I knew the wildlife and the flora in the area and was always careful. I would know very little about the area she was in so wouldn't go without someone familiar with the area and well supplied. Living in south Florida now I have next to no knowledge of the flora and fauna down here so do not go hiking in anything but small local parks. Wish I could but not taking foolish chances considering the wide variety of dangerous animals and plants here. The alligators are the least of my worries.

I never go on any hike without a camelbak of wayer, lighter, compass, some food, my phone, ID, basic first aid supplies, and a knife. The setup weighs basically nothing and is critically important.

Glad this turned out well for her, could have been tragic. Basic land navigation skills using a compass and map should be required for backcountry hiking. Know how to shoot a back azimuth with a compass and map and you’re never lost.

She took full responsibility and understood her mistakes... that definitely deserves respect. Not letting the rescuers fly her out would have been a real slap in the face to people who'd been risking their lives searching for her in prime grizzly bear country, so while I can appreciate her desire to hike out under her own power, I'm glad she accepted their help. I FULLY thought at that point of the video she was going to decline their help, hike the last couple of miles back to her car alone, and be killed and eaten by a grizzly bear before she got there!!!! Surely I'm not the only person who thought that... some of you out there thought it would end that way too, didn't you?!?!? 🤔😂
