SharePoint Workflow Conditions

Is there a way to have an else-if condition like this?

if Condition1{...}
else if Condition2 {...}
else {...}

Seems like it only allows for 2 conditions, requiring a nested else-condition as a workaround. Need to do the same with the "Transition to stage" as well.

I have created an 2010 custom approval a workflow using SharePoint Designer.
So there are 7 approval levels which are running sequencially which I have managed using variable & condition. But sometimes workflow throws error like 'an error occurred' and 'task is locked currently by running workflow'. I have did online RnD but couldn't find anything useful. Could you please help out me with this.
