ОтветитьPerspective of this music: "he tried all of the things to be a better person but his destiny was already choosen"
-Goober53
I think noone is noticing what's said in the beginning: "You can tell it's him because we put his name on the stone." Although some may take this as a more comedic line, i think its implying that there are so many people identical to Charlie, that you can't tell who's who.
And as one commentor has said before, i think this is more of a symbolic song. The Line "avoiding all the things that were hard to ask" I think it's him, ignoring all his mental problems and just focusing on living up to the standard of a "normal" person (constantly happy, selfless, doesn't think about himself). I think the "demons" are his INNER demons and problems he tries to hide from, and as stated in the line: "You can run from your demons until you're exhausted", I think its telling that Charlie keeps running from his problems, insteaf of facing them. "One day you will have to stop and find out what they wanted" As he has grown, he looks back, finally facing those thoughts.
But this is just a theory.. A MUSIC THEORRRYYYYYY!!!!!!!
why tf those devils caked up though
ОтветитьI think my interpretation of the lyrics of this song are a little different than others. Instead of focusing on how things he does might be considered only done so he could get into heaven and not done so that he could be a good person, I want to focus on the last half of the song. "You can run from your demons until you are exhausted, one day you will have to stop and question what they wanted" coupled with the fact he is riding an escalator and has a choice to walk back down to keep living, he CHOOSES to run away from his life (most likely because he had problems he was neglecting to confront) and try to get into heaven by staying still on the escalator. In the end, when he is placed on a shelf in a jar with many others in a similar position, I think the artist is trying to get us to understand that people try to ignore and walk away from their problems all too often nowadays.
Ответитьsquidward?
Ответитьdoesn't make sense that he died in a car crash as he boycotted cars when the gasoline prices went up, right?
ОтветитьIn the end he got put in the jar 😔 the worst fate possible
ОтветитьI am addicted to this video. I'm watching it every hour.
ОтветитьTo me thing song tell you that actions will never get yky into heaven because is salvation by grace alone, what deed can any human do that would exceed Jesus dying in the cross for our sins then rising in the third day... no act of man will ever be greater than Jesus sacrifice on the cross, all we have to do is accept and believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose on the third Day. A true christain doesn't do good deeds to become a christain a good cheistain does these deeds to prove that they are a chrsitain
ОтветитьI mean. Okay yes, Charlie doesn’t sound like an awesome person on the inside and going to hell is kind of humbling him for so being so confident and egotistical, maybe even narcissistic but aside from being so sure of himself and a little selfish it could also be interpreted as him being optimistic. Before these comments, I thought it was just some kind of fuck up or he did what he did to try to make up for smth horrible that was never mentioned so yes, these comments do make more sense than a random guess but I mean other than trying his hardest to go to heaven, he did sound like he tried to make some good of it. When he goes in the sign literally says “Abandon All Hope, All Ye Who Enter” his reaction immediately after is “It was a horrifying sign but sounded like a neat adventure”. Yes he might have done most of his good deeds out of greed but also did sound like he kinda did try? Maybe even a little? I know it’s just one sentence but we don’t exactly get a ton of info on this guy’s real, raw personality. I think dude’s just got issues tbh, like maybe what if instead of being full of himself he was just trying to convince himself so much he ended up being selfish? Like you know how people who deal with self loathing will often make jokes along the lines of “God I look so good, like the hottest person alive” “I look so much more stunning than everyone else here” “I’m so awesome” (sounds worst on text, usually it’s in a dramatic tone to emphasize it’s satire). What if he really just thinks that he’s unworthy of heaven and tried to do all this not thinking of anything else other than self improvement and that’s why he was so self centered. But then why would he go to hell? Was he so focused on misdeeds to the point where that’s what kinda comes up the most or he just tried to convince himself so much he began to be too prideful and isn’t pride a sin but also he really didn’t sound like he believed it? Idk. Maybe all of us are reading too deep in this lmao, but that’s kinda neat in a way I think-that it’s left up to everyone else to imagine what they want and theorize without solid proof to block you from your headcannons
ОтветитьWhatever you do dont put this in 2x
ОтветитьWe all know that Charlie was innocent but he just do something wrong.
Edit: In the lyrics, "Catch you later, I'm off to see the man upstairs! They all look like ants from here, stars and crystal chandeliers!" Charlie really said that to the angels btw.
it just a song.-.

ОтветитьHe was just average
ОтветитьUnlike everybody else who believes charlie wasnt actually a good person i believe motive for doing nice things is irrelavant i believe charlie did some fucked up shit in the past and he was so nice as his attempt to repent.
ОтветитьCharlie was a lot worse than he seems.
'Judged with no pretense' - Could be pride, or envy. Thinking he was better than others, assuming he had room to judge, etc. Definitely sounds like pride. Also, assuming he'd go to heaven is a big sign of pride. Judging people can also a sign of jealousy, which, again, would indicate envy.
'Avoiding all the little things that were hard to ask' - He was too lazy to face things. That's sloth. Also, as I saw in another comment, the first few lines 'here lies Charlie. You can tell it's him, cause we put his name on the stone..' implies he never did anything big with his life. He was too lazy to do anything meaningful.
'Screaming at the [angel/demons] while they pushed him through the door!' - Quite simply, wrath. Getting so angry and upset over the fact he wasn't going to Heaven that he screamed at God's angels? Something's not right here...
'Kept his showers ice-cold, used eco friendly lightbulbs, rode his bicycle to work when the gasoline price rose . . . Never swim in the ocean, for fear of shark attacks..' - All of these things are for his own benefit. The first three save money on bills and gas costs, while the fourth prevents death. This is greed, and the 'fish on weekends' is gluttony (self indulgence). The gluttony is later supported by the gluttonous sinners in Hell with apples in their mouths.
'Bi-monthly get his wife a rose with a card attached' - To keep his relationship good, presumably not because he loved her, but for appearance and lust. The lust is supported by the later mention of lustful people getting tortured with pleasure toys.
By being an average middle-aged Christian man, Charlie committed all seven of the deadly sins.
Man it's very sad for me when the guy died
ОтветитьHi
ОтветитьWhat a powerful song
ОтветитьI think Charlie's right though. If there was someone who knew him there they would not say he belonged in hell. Charlie wasn't a good person, not a bad guy
ОтветитьThis song hits different after you’ve just been at a funeral
ОтветитьHere's my interpretation of this song:
Charlie was rejected from heaven because he "played it safe", was not the right kind of person to deserve paradise, and/or he doesn't meet the standards for him to get in.
Here are the facts about Charlie:
1. He's economically conscious; or, you could say: he's cheap (never rode a car during the oil crisis, used eco-friendly lightbulbs and never used the shower heater to save from electric bills)
2. He's traditional (goes to church every Sunday, is patriotic (re: nationalistic), fishes every weekend; a typical American dad)
3. He's honest; or rather, he's upfront or blunt ("judged with no pretense")
4. He's possibly closed-minded (assumed he's going to heaven just because he knew he lived a good life, never thought of the possibility of being rejected)
5. He was too safe ("avoiding all the little things that were hard to ask", avoided swimming in the ocean because of the misconception about sharks - FYI: shark attacks are very rare and usually occur because of provocation or because a surfer looked like a seal or other shark prey)
I don't know what the artist's intentions were in this song; but, to me, it sounds like a commentary on the absurdity, contradictory or pointlessness of (Abrahamic) afterlife; there's this passage near the end of the song:
" You can run to those angels- "
...
" -One day you will have to stop and question what they wanted "
Fabulously done, great animation fair play for pushing on
ОтветитьThe lyric about him riding his bike when the gas prices rose really shows that he only does good things when it benefits him.
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful song
ОтветитьMy name was there :D Laura
ОтветитьI thought his wife was his mom-
ОтветитьPeople live behind walls for so long that they forget what fear truly means. Some continue to feign fear out of tradition, but the intellectuals question the traditions of man and move beyond them. When the walls crack, only those who have gone through the motions before will survive.
