The F16 wasn’t piloted by Beltran Vielma; it was piloted by Labarca Soto (who seems to be reported missing in the US btw).

The pilot of the OV-10 was Carlos Mictil. Who was able to eject himself.

With those two names you can find more accurate information about what happened. I got this from a former Air Force member in Venezuela. From the information he told me, the OV-10 had an engine failure already, and was actually attempting to land on the air base El Libertador.

The F16 was trying to shut the bronco down for a while, but due to the high speed of the F16 and low speed of the bronco, that made ir quite difficult.

Furthermore, Labarca was being threatened to be accused of treason if he didn’t shutdown Mictil, before he landed. The thing is, technically he shouldn’t have shot it, as the plane was out of the fight.

Shame it was all for nothing at the end because Chavez eventually did get to the power, and fucked my whole country😅. Hope he is rotting in hell.

Tries to gun down a target in low altitude is really risky since you gotta reduce air speed and a good angle to land single blow on Heli, unlike Ace Combat or any Dogfight games we played, reality is really different.
