PROMETHEUS LENS [Destiny 2] Solar 3.0...But In Weapon Form!!

If you've had the chance to try it out, how has Prometheus Lens been treating you in Season of the Haunted? 🍻

I wonder if you can throw your weighted throwing knife fast enough for some ignition kills. Scorch target, weighted throwing knife and then boom.

Does anyone know how long you have to sustain prometheus lens to start scorching

I just got this weapon today and it's amazing.
Edit: Of All things it randomly dropped from a knight doing duality dungeon with my clan members.
I gave it a test run in the vault of glass raid and was pleased.

Was doing King’s Fall the other day with some guys, I was using Izanagi/Stormchaser, somebody else was using Prometheus Lens and was out DPSing, not by much, but we were the top 2 DPS, so it seems like uh, Prometheus Lens is pretty good???

Dunno if you tested this but it's worth combining it with a Hunter using Caliban's Hand and the solar fulmination mod in pvp. Many many booms.

After i got the jutunn catalyst i think thats the real deal for solar 3.0! Its beats every other weapon by far. But second place is prometheus lens and polarice lens. I was in the leviathan royal pools to test the catalyst. I shoot a cabal centurion with one projectile. It did hit down the quarter of the cabal nightmare healthbar, but then also scortched it. The scortch then ignite it, the ignite spreads around the other cabals and ignite them all. I just watch the cabal moans when they die and explode from iginition. All it from one jutunn shot. Its blew me away.

Great investigation, Iron! I think it has slightly less damage because it's split into the beam damage and the bubble damage. So the total damage should be those two in total. In crucible, I guess the bubble damage is converted into scorch damage.
However, have you tried it with Dawn Chorus in pvp or Mantle of Battle Harmony in PVE?

At the start of the season, I pulled a PM and a Retraced Path and used both. For me, the RP was the better pick. Especially with Subsistence & Frenzy. Then I tried Sunshot and never looked back. With the proper setup, it's a beast. With a couple mods, it drops solar wells like rain.

I've used this weapon since D1 as one of my favourite goto weapons for PVE and believe it or not I have nearly 50,000 kills with it. Now solar 3.0 is here its freaking awesome.

Is the area effect a disc perpendicular to you, or a sphere? It's hard to tell from first person.

Wouldn't the scorch ticks in pvp delay their Recovery by a tiny bit? Not a huge perk but maybe worth mentioning. If normally a player "recovers" in 1.5 seconds and the scorch delays it .5 seconds, you've increased their Recovery to 2 seconds.

You're essentially reducing their Recovery stat, aren't you?

Honestly, I'm really underwhelmed with Solar 3.0's scorch and weapon synergies. Its not all solar weapon, its just certain (7 legendary, 2 exotics, and 1 catalyst) solar weapons. Its not all solar exotics, its just 3 solar exotics (When you include a catalyst). Solar 3.0's class ability changes, additions, class exotics, its all fantastic. I'm adoring all of it, but suddenly, running solar, If it doesn't have demo in slot 3, I now intrinsically value it so much less. But the weapon side of things, with a single, SINGLE, perk..... And 3 perks in the Artifact.... No, I am disappointed beyond words. Of those 3 mods in the artifact, They all could have been Perks, passive benefits to solar exotics, fragments, or been rolled into an aspect in one/all of the classes.

I just feel like... I don't know, as opposed to Arc or Void or Stasis, Solar had the best capability of folding weapons into its builds a whole lot more. Like, we could have gotten Incendiary Rounds, or High Explosive rounds, or SABOT rounds.... Thermite rounds, Volcanic rounds. We had so many options to fold weapons into it. But they chose Scorch and Ignition, and only 1 perk to proc Scorch, and only 1 way to proc Ignition (with weapons that is).

The Class Ability loop for Warlock and Hunters is astoundingly fun (Except Warlock's supers feeling so unbelievably weak right now). I've never enjoyed playing a grenade spam build more than Hunters' Tripmine Slinger build. Warlock's Solar Slinger combo got so much stronger too, but their Fusion Nadeslinger build is EXCEPTIONAL now. And there are so many more builds that can be enjoyed and played with, because of how good some of the new abilities on the classes feel, allowing things like Karnstein and winter's Guile to feel so much more enjoyable.

I feel like they didnt do enough to this to make it viable in the current sandbox. Now that we have much better (and useful) exotic trace rifles and starting to get more legendary trace rifles (with retraced path rolling with subsistance and something like golden tricorn/frenzy being basically a slightly less effective prometheus lens) Prometheus is starting to slip out of the exotic category (except for the look of it. with the osiris ornament it will ALWAYS be exotic aesthetically) now that its no longer sits alone on the "laser beam gun" hill. They should have made the beam itself immediately start applying scorch on contact and have the stacks ramp up the longer the beam is held on. Maybe have the catalyst give it an alternate fire mode that consumes the whole or half the mag for a single explosive beam burst that immediately triggers an ignition on hit. The way it is now, its literally just a fun weapon to finish bounties and clear out trash mobs without having to reload.

Totally broken with loreley and that one fragment that gives you class energy for scorching targets

Ve been playing around with all my solar weapons this season, both legendary and exotic, trying them out with different armour builds. I haven't taken this one from the vault yet so this review helps a lot. It's given me some ideas on what fragments, mods and exotic armour I should try this out with. 🤔👍

I haven't tried prometheus this season. Might give it a shot! I've been focusing heavily on ability spam based builds like my hunter with Gunpowder gamble and trip mines or calibans hand. Or my warlock with rain of fire.

While it is worse than other trace rifles. I still love this weapon. I suppose I just like the aesthetic over others or something. Ruinous Effigy has been killing the new areas this season if not running a Solar build.

I have love-hate relationships with Prometheus . I like trace rifles in general and how Prometheus feels with Solar 3.0, but at the same time I hate visual effects for some reason. Whenever I'm using it my eyes just go AAAAGGGHHHH xD

I've never been a fan of this one, it's just always felt worse than other traces for whatever reason. Post rework it's fine if you're going for a solar build, but I'd probably pick a better solar weapon like Sunshot.

Appreciate the video, but I gotta say I feel like Prometheus needs to decide what it wants to be, tbh. Unfortunately, theres always something else that can do it better. I want scorch stacks with infinite ammo? Skyburners. I want ad clear? Sunshot. I want damage? Ticcu's or devil's ruin. I just wish they'd give it something to actually encourage its use. I love trace rifles, but it just feels lackluster

Thank you for the review Ironworker. I remember trying PL in the crucible before Solar 3.0 and being underwhelmed by it. Since my crucible skills are non-existent, I assumed it was me. It is odd that Bungie would go to the trouble of treating PL different from other trace rifles. By the way, was that Chattering Bones you were using in the Iron Banner? Regards to Agent Sparkles.

I love Prometheus. it's been awesome before solar 3.0, and this season it's even better! I do end up running some weapons over it, but always a solid option for pve. Glad it's finally getting the recognition it deserves 🍻

We need a skyburners review. It only applies 3 scorch per hit which is oof but it is now hitscan and can hit the 0.8 optimal ads now to hitscan. Plus it has no dropoff even for ADS. Pretty nice
