I'm practicing death metal growls since i was 13 and it works but i still can't do raspy cleans...hope it helps...
Ответитьjust curious ken, what is your vocal range?
ОтветитьThat Chris Cornell note is similar to another note in a song I like. It's by All that remains and the song is called two weeks. There is one AWESOME part where he says "I swear I never gave up on YOOOOOOOOOOOUUU". I'm practicing to learn that one part and every other part like that in the song.
ОтветитьI achieved distortion without pain, but my god does it sound bad
ОтветитьSo I was just going naturally higher and I guess my voice is just naturally distorted
ОтветитьI decided to work on strengthening my core to get more power/ doing cardio to strengthen my lungs. Hoping that will help, and I will remember your advice!!! treating your voice like equipment for a sport is really a smart way to look at it. I already love exercise, so using singing as a motivator would probably help me do it more. I realize you may not have meant that literally, but I am sure it would help lol
Any tips for helping develop midrange/ blend low and high/ chest/ head voice? love these videos, man
I want Ken to move in next door.
ОтветитьAlso.... is it normal to poo a little when belting with distortion?
ОтветитьThe first victory was learning the actual term for the sound I wanted.
ОтветитьComplex and difficult technique.. I really like all the examples minus the Avatar example but spot on with the technique
ОтветитьWho’s here from the cover of TXT in my blood
ОтветитьAre you okay LMFAOO
Ответитьwow the girl is incredible... you sure, master, but indeed she learned well, congratz! What's her name please?
ОтветитьIf you close your eyes, he transforms into Ryan Reynolds.
ОтветитьThat woman is an Amazing singer
ОтветитьDamn Ken. 😭😭👩🏻🎤👩🏻🎤🔥🔥👏👏👏
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Curious, you say this is diatressing for vocal chords...so should we be feeling at least some tension amd discomfot here? I get it shouldn't hurt. Thanks
Ответитьwow. so much pipes on this video.
ОтветитьSee I love blended distortion but I recently discovered a mix of distortion and falsetto in my voice that I am trying to get control of .
It is fairly easy for me to engage distortion and I am learning to have control over it almost better than my 'clean voice' .
I'm not a professional so I am pretty sure I am saying this wrong but I want all three sounds in my voice at the same time on command .
How do I achieve this ?
This cat rules...I'm from the "An Axe to Grind" era. Amazing singer and and even better guitar player. Plus...he still has great hair👍
ОтветитьIs it possible, that some guys (me, male) just can't sing with distortions for anatomical reasons?
I've been trying this for 30 years and played with a lot of techniques, checked online about that, for about 15 years, followed a lot of vocal exsamples, but just nothing worked for me.
I can do a distortion in a low- up to medium low register of my voice, but as soon I go higher it just disapears. The only few cases, I actually made it, felt painful and wrong. So no way.
Back to my question, are high scream sounds not given to anybody?
Love these. You're vocal range is truly impressive.
ОтветитьVery nice educational experience 🙂
Love your videos!
Very good imo!
You’re also a Very good vocalist!
Thank you 🙏 🙂 ✌️🤟
This is great🤘🏻
ОтветитьI want to sing "bruises" since i like it but i dont have distortion and i cant belt well😭🙂
Ответитьmy dream is to sing eith distortion without it hurting my throat so I can sing little richard songs but i cant understand how it doesnt hurt in the throat
ОтветитьWhat microphone would you recommend for this type of singing
ОтветитьMan, I love your videos Ken. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьI've been trying to sing for a year. And I never knew distortion. But my uncle said grunge, so I saw the OTHER video but after seeing "Backlight by Ado" then going down a rabbit hole, I LEARNED THE WORD DISTORTION AND GOT BROUGHT BACK HERE SO THANK YOU! (I have legitimately torn my throat a few times lol, but I don't talk to anyone so it has plenty of time to heal)
ОтветитьBravo!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьJust like in acting Ken, as I had studied for years. Learn the lines and look the other person in the eyes. If the situation is serious or of a saddening nature, it is only then by way of certain sense memory techniques that would help the actor use such in that situation. Love all your work man! Huge fan here…🎤💪🏼
ОтветитьI used to scream/growl and lose my voice afterwards until I started watching Ken’s videos. It takes time (which is hard to make/find for vocalists) to develop your voice to a level like this, but it is worth it. You will sound better and save your voice, so you dont sound like Brian Johnson when you get older.
ОтветитьKen, I know it's one of your oldest videos I haven't seen before but what's the point with your copressed tongue here? I'm explaining - in most of vocal couches of classical, for example, they're all talking about the"leaf on the bottom". Of course I feel and know that's a bullshit but I'm really interested about your vision. Would you tell me more about these good sides of your tongue position ? P.S: I found it very suitable with distortion some time ago :)
ОтветитьWow never thought if starting with a powerful clean voice and gradually increasing distortion. What a great idea. Thanks Ken.
ОтветитьGreat video. 💜💜💜
ОтветитьKen, sending blessings and 💜 from freezing London! I was just thinking you have not done a video on Paul Shortino yet? His voice was overlooked, he had a really good voice but just could not get that extra breakthrough but sung in Quiet riot, and a couple of other top named bands , worthy of a video or comment on his voice at very least? I would be interested on your thoughts. Take care lovely man! 💜💜💜
ОтветитьOlder vid, but this one caused me to buy the course. I have purchased other singing courses since (Jamie Vendera and even Jim Gillette's cheesy yet informative course). Tamplin breaks it down. Within a couple months I have gone from a non-singer to one who at least doesn't chase people out of the room.
ОтветитьHey Ken, I've been perusing some of your amazing/inspiring videos and I actually think that THIS is your "secret sauce"... the bigger you make your eyes, the more range and power you get! I'm gonna go stand in front of a mirror and try it myself. ;P
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, I love that you insist on singing with good technique first
ОтветитьI know why you edited this. You wont make your neighbor think that there is a murder in your house 😂 Cz my neighbor did.
ОтветитьI've never been more scared of a vocal coach in the best way possible that hearing you sing those notes in this video! 👀💀😅🤘
Ответить"What if I say I will never surrender "- lyrics that even teach - teaching Whitney Houston how to sing?-- you even said- " okay ladies- this is where you come in"- Kurt Cobain, Lance, Scott Stapp, etc. - even Cinderella's Front Man- these FRONT MAN have a talent that stands out-
ОтветитьGabriela's Burn is BUUUURRRNNING!!! :D
ОтветитьI love your energy bro. It would be a dream come true to have you as my teacher. You remind me of a teacher I had in elementary school I loved so much.
ОтветитьBro Knows Everything you can possibly Imagine😂!!
ОтветитьGradually adding distortion in stages is a helpful tip! What does in feel like in the body to add distortion? Is it sort of like how one might squeeze their abs if someone was going to punch them in the stomach? (I do know how to support with my diaphragm and can get a good clean sound)
ОтветитьHey ken! Is this the same technique as a scream in metalcore music? I've heard people say that metal screams don't have a pitch and that screaming with your voice will hurt you, so is yours a different technique or have i been misinformed? Could you please explain, thanks!
Ответить
