If I make a savings withdrawal to cover the cost of an expense that month do I put the expense in and then put the savings withdrawal amount into the income? For example: I buy a new dishwasher. I spend on the dishwasher in the expense (let say 800$) then I make a savings withdrawal to cover that cost. Do I put the 800$ into the income section to get accurate net savings and ending balance for the month???

Thank you very much for tutorial, it's exactly what I was looking for. But when I tried to did it myself, that IF formula shows FALSE when no amount in corresponding category is entered and I don't know how to fix it right.

Question: is there a way that if you change the date(by month for example), your graph data will also change according to your date?

i watched till the end. gotta say, best spreadsheet i have and gonna use this for like a long long time. i just had one suggestion i.e. maybe adding a column beside the expenses where we can put in comments about the expense. ex. subscription for sim, wifi, spotify etc

This video is amazing. Of course I'm having an issue with the first few steps, trying to change it to just the month and year. There is no option for month a year in the custom date and time formats . What am I doing wrong?

i think i messed up somewhere on the date for some reason on the days that are empty it shows <false> any ideas

I like this. You did a very good job explaining all the steps. One question (or possibple future video), is there a way to link the transactions tables to a master transaction table that then filters for the month in question but would also allow for an overall annual tab (without copy/past of each month's data)?

Hi, I've tried this formula, but it doesn't work. When I delete or type nothing on cell H14, the dates always appears.

This formula.

=IF(H14<>"",DATE(2023,8,H14),)

Result: on G14
1/0/1990

Note: Ive done this on Excel.

How would I be able to add an account column to the transactions tables?? Also would be great to be able to filter through said accounts columns and maybe add a big balance ticker that also can be filtered by account or just left to global.

This video tutorial is awesome! After watching your video, I downloaded a copy of your template. Then watched again, this time following along to create one myself. You explained everything so clearly, it was easy to follow. Thank you so much! I'm using Windows and found "Ctrl" worked in place of Mac's "Command". Using "Shift+Ctrl+down arrow" to quickly highlight whole columns is revolutionary lol. But my biggest takeaway is "Arrayformula". This is what I didn't know I needed to know!
Now, I have to ask... Is it possible to combine the income and expense transactions tables into one table, and incorporate 2 dropdown menus - one being "Categories" (Income, Expense) and the other "Subcategories" (all the different income or expense categories, depending which Category is selected). If this is possible, how would the formula then look with the cells for both dropdowns included? I hope that makes sense. 🙃

What an amazing tutorial and a spreadsheet. I only have one question, when it comes on putting your income sources, are you putting them on gross income or net income??? Assuming someone with a regular job and investment or side hustle,for a job it will be tax right away, in short, net income. On the other hand, making an income on investments and side hustle, such as, capital gains and dividends is I consider gross income. Also, it will only be tax on filing season. Which part of the income should I put on the spreadsheet, the gross/pre tax or the net/after taxes to make everything accurate??? Thank you and have a great day.

OMG I cannot believe that I actually accomplished following step by step from this video and actually created my own income tracker from scratch and all the formulas are working properly. I had to reconnect to my web design programming side to coding on excel. I just realized how much I miss coding. I just don't want to give up. It took me 3 days to complete this on and off with break times, but I accomplished this. I wished I had stuck with this side instead of going to teaching lol.
