Speaking as a straight male, I think the reason NTR is controversial is a lot of us struggle in our relationships and our fantasies revolve around 1) either being universally loved (harem), 2) being able to satisfy others (i.e. not impotent) or being 3) loved devotedly by one person - because that's not what you're getting in RL. Flavors like futa, hypnosis, tentacles, etc. are entirely within the realm of fantasy, and therefore don't elicit as visceral an emotional response. IMHO, I think NTR would actually be less appealing to men if there wasn't so much overlap with corruption fetishes - because lots of guys seem to like the idea of women learning to enjoy their sexuality for the first time.

I don't mind NTR in my porn games even if it's not avoidable, as long as it's sexy and not totally depressing and insufferable. But what totally gets me is optional NTR, that's even better than not having any NTR at all. I like the feeling of seeing something that happened purely because of my actions, rather than being forced to watch something I may not want.

I understand why a lot of people don't like this genre but there are some really good games in it. Especially one's like Exciting Games where it's sharing but between two people who trust each other fully. I think games like that can actually be pretty eye opening for some people.

Problem is the term "ntr" has been co-opted by its detractors to mean any kind of romantic conflict which could be as broad as any male npc-female npc sex regardless of the relationship context; this is a sharp divergence from the original idea of a sexual encounter that seeks to create jealousy from the viewer. I like your summary of "romantic conflict" as when games are absent of any of this, the stories trend towards boring harems. (Spoiler alert: MC has sex with every female in the game)

This genre just... hits a certain spot inside that is very, VERY sensitive. Despite me not usually feeling like I'M the main character, since in some games either they already have a premade name that you can choose to change, or they show your character's model so often that it just feels like I'm a third party (Even in other games, it's why I've never been able to connect with The Witcher 3 and its story for example, despite it being critically acclaimed), there's always a little part of me that feels at least somewhat connected to the main character. Cheating by itself is already just... a horrible, and despicable act in my eyes. But to take that feeling, that deep, gut wrenching pain, and try to turn it into sexual pleasure? It's just... no. Even in adult videos where you can see the person being cheated on, I can never stop focusing on that. Can't just be a 'fly on the wall' or see it through the cheater's lover's eyes. And even though it's not that common for me, there's been a small number of games where I've felt like I was the main character, like in WVM, one of my favorites. If a game like that suddenly hit me with NTR I don't even know how I would feel. Hell, I had to stop playing it because of how attached I was getting to the characters 😅Couldn't stop thinking about them even when I wasn't playing.

I don't agree with your definition of what NTR is. NTR typically is a few steps further. NTR is basically getting off on your significant other fucking somebody else.

Ironically as someone who enjoys NTR all other people I know who is into are also female. The cheating fantasies are so alluring and sadly a vast majority of games ditch it because they only seek to appeal to the male straight audience.

There is a reason that it’s mostly Heterosexual because the majority of the population is Heterosexual and if the aim is to make a profit then you aim it at the highest demographic no ? 😂😂😂

Hello Annie, I think you somewhat answer your own question. The public of these games is not the same than the one of romantic films or books (mostly women). Here it is mostly men and some of them may not have a very full filing romantic life. It may explain why NTR flavor is a really sensitive one.

As someone who has been cheated on, this flavor is a difficult one. I do understand that it's just a game and fantasy, but there is always this nagging little feeling at the back of my head that comes knocking whenever this flavor is encountered. Personal flaw, of course, but it's something I myself need to think about. The good thing about modern day gaming is, however, that we can always choose what to play :D

Like basically everything other than the most vanilla flavors, people are prone to have adverse reactions & I think that's what makes them so cool. Because people are interested in very different things, it allows for more diverse content that caters to specialized audiences. Not everyone likes the same stuff and that's a good thing

I know it may sound contradictory, but there is definitely a good and bad way to do NTR, sometimes it really is nice or fits in well. Especially certain alternative flavors, but definitely isn't targeted by the average hetero male.

Good list overall. I used to not pursue this path back then as it wasn't the most appealling idea in the world but then there's that one game that flipped the switch and made me dip my toes into it, now I'm chill with this category, I'm not like obsessed with it but I'm now able to enjoy it when it's present and it has only been a benefit to me since there's a lot of games locked exclusively in this category that you will never even dare to try if you avoid this tag like the plague.

I wouldn't call myself an NTR fan but I really dislike when you have the option to "disable" NTR content at the beginning of the game, I think its better handled when you get NTR content or not depending on your actions in game, and I mean meaningful actions, not using a magic pen or someone, by example, Dr. Amana, sexual Therapist is a great game were the MC is married to a gorgeous woman, during the game you have the option to be a good caring husband or a piece of garbage, if you choose to treat her poorly she eventually cheats on you, but if you choose to be nice she will never cheat, and I think that's great, I didn't even knew there was NTR in the game until I read some comments about it. Being able to just disable all possible NTR feels lazy to be honest.

i think that in general, the concept of ntr in other forms of storytelling and even in non adult games is a very good/interesting dynamic. i dont claim to speak for all straight males in what im about to say but i think that it will perhaps be interesting nonetheless. In an adult game, it is really easy to insert (lol) yourself into the world of the MC because much of sexual attraction irl is also related to the personality of the woman (or man i would assume for gay folks). Its easy therefore to get emotionally attached as though it were all real even though you are totally in a straight male power fantasy with a harem of over 9000 catgirls. more than anything though is that it is primarily a medium used for "pleasing oneself" and because "I AM" the character i just end up feeling sad instead of aroused because of my in universe emotional connection to the love interest. perhaps also being cheated on by a significant other irl makes this even more sad for me personally but i would assume many would feel similarly.

tldr: many dont want porn to make them sad

You should check out Power Vacuum as well. The NTR is optional and animations are just amazing. And the storyline is pretty fun as well.
