ОтветитьWow interesting mod! I ain't a Smash player but I can see where it could greatly increase player performance.
ОтветитьHope to see a full kit for sale soon!
ОтветитьI'm using some mechanical switches in my GameCube controller. The biggest issue was seating for the switch and spring, I do have it at a good point but it's a bit precarious. It does look like you've addressed that issue with your custom hardware, props to that!
The other issue I have is the dangling wires, which makes opening up the controller an extra pain in the butt. In your mod, your end result still has the dangling wire issue. If you could find a way to address that with some sort of magnetic connection between the PCB and the trigger housing that would be super ideal. I'd pay the extra money for that.
You mentioned being able to switch between light and hard shield for melee, is that mod tournament legal? It's not really something I personally need since I only play ultimate. Just worth mentioning since I know some mods are legal and others aren't. If possible you should provide a solution for ultimate only so that it's easier to install and doesn't require extra steps.
Love it!!!
ОтветитьWonder how hard it would be to use a keyswitch which provides analog input and translate that to the controllers expected values for the trigger
ОтветитьLol Techno/Retro Gummi Bears theme song.
ОтветитьLove these controller mods! But when are the wavebird mods coming??
ОтветитьStem for kailh low profile v1!!!
ОтветитьAwesome video, I really like the use of the V2 choc switches. Is there a way to add the metal bracket back in? When I used the mod to put a normal mx-style switch in as a replacement I noticed that it wobbled a bit more which led to increased friction if I didn't push the button exactly straight down. I'm not even sure that this will be a problem with your system because of the orange stabilizing piece that you've made. Either way, I'll definitely be interested in picking this up whenever you've got it completed.
ОтветитьWhen you think there is no more ideas for gamecube controller Rockergaming brings something new 🤯
ОтветитьAlthough I don’t play smash bros I’ve got a feeling that it would be great for my favourite GameCube game Sonic Riders! I’ll keep checking back for when this is ready to buy to try it out.
ОтветитьBro that’s really cool 😎
ОтветитьThe current design seems excellent for a purely digital trigger in Melee, however in my experience most people prefer having a short consistent analog range right before that, since with single digital trigger wavedash out of shield is inconsistent in Melee.
Does your current design support keeping the digital click input at a lower point, so that the analog slider above it is still functional? Using a singular two-stage switch that actuates both the digital and the analog input would probably be even better for Melee, however I'm not aware of any that have a similar design to the keyboard switches you are using and sufficient lifespan.
I've used switches that are used for camera shutter buttons before, which do the job, but they wear out within 1-3 months of Melee gameplay, which is not sustainable.
Is there any mechanism in this system to allow for analog AND digital press? I use a short trigger plug for melee, so I rely on access to light shield with a light press, and then a bit further for my digital press. If there's a way to offset the digital actuation of the keyboard switch just enough to allow for the analog slider to activate first, I would 100% purchase this
Ответитьhello i lost the instructions to my snapback mod, which color wire goes where.
ОтветитьCan we just replace all of the switches with mechanical ones haha
ОтветитьReleaseeee it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьSo does your PCB mod make it so you dont have to press it halfway for the response in ssbu? If so I would love to have this. Can we have the details to the pcb that you made?
ОтветитьCan't wait to see how this develops! Super keen to have both triggers set to a mechanical keyboard switch and you've made the installation seem super simple
Ответитьthis looks so sick.
Ответитьcan you make a video of how to make custom colored analog sticks with rubber I can't find out how to do it
ОтветитьLegit question: Can you make transparent sticks for the Fusion Pro Wireless? (Switch version)
Need a set and a seller for red led rings too.
Just want my sticks to glow red 😥
for those castellations on the left trigger PCB, did you use a throughhole that was routed over or simply have a moon shape pad on the top layer of the thin PCB? I have messed around with using castellated PCBs but they add a ton of cost to the boards.
ОтветитьI know Game Cube controllers are good for Smash, but I use mine for Mario Kart. The triggers on this controller need to be modded to be viable. Stock won't cut it since they don't use analog input except when playing CTGP on the Wii U with the adapter. In this particular case, it behaves just like in Smash Ultimate. I put in tall trigger plugs in my controller to help with having "digital" inputs, but these triggers won't work with the Wii U. It's nice to see this mod done with the left trigger, but I think it would be very beneficial to have this mod for both triggers. It can be useful in most games that it will be modded for.
Ответитьwhat did you do exactly to just connect the keyboard switch with that cable? i was looking at keyboard switches and im not sure how it to connect them
ОтветитьMan if only there was enough room inside the controller shell it'd be sweet to integrate blue cherry switches for the B,A,X, and Y buttons. Nothing would be more soothing than that nice easy to press clicky feedback.
ОтветитьHey quick question, does the L circuit make it so a digital press on the controller equates to a high analog input for ultimate? I've been looking for a way to make the GameCube controller triggers more digital and this looks sick!
Ответитьdefinitely would love to have a kit to have a Tactile Trigger for both sides
Ответитьhave you considered going with linear switches, or analog switches even? an analog switch would give you some tactility while also shortening the distance by just as much, however im not sure if they make slim/hot swap analog switches.
ОтветитьHooooooly... This is amazing!!!!!
Yo could you possibly show us how do a Face Buttons Mechanical Switch mod?
Always loved the clicky switches but it would be fire if they were also on A, B, Y, X
Even microswitches would be nice
:O
Man the custom pcb's really take this mod to the next level. Thanks for the credit in the description btw, really cool to see how the bracket is being used in this project, you really pushed it along. I'm hoping to someday be able to make a fully hot swappable controller, face buttons and everything.
ОтветитьExcited to try this mod out! When do you plan to sell this?
ОтветитьThis looks awesome! Would definitely buy a kit or two (:
ОтветитьIt looks almost perfect! The thing I would recommend is making an optional light and hard press digital trigger to allow that option to be available for other gamecube games. Overall this is revolutionary for outdated trigger presses that always was a flaw for the gamecube.
Ответитьwhere are the files for the stuff holding the switch
ОтветитьRelease date??
🎇🐙🎆 Just chilln til then
Anyway we could get a How-To-Video, either with arduino or any other board, to remap the buttons programmtically? So Say if I Press L, the command that is sent to the switch is X and then the down button immediately after, or if
I press the c-stick left , that could be any number of combinations etc....How could we achieve this?
In Ultimate, if you set L to Jump, this mod could make short hopping easier with it
ОтветитьThis looks amazing, is this going to work with phobs?
ОтветитьIt's pretty cool seeing the mods that's possible with today's technology.
Hopefully you'll make these mods available for sale once done.
Maybe the mechanical switch had an easy press because of the type of switch used? What about a slightly longer plug?
it would be perfect for my friend who only plays ultimate
ОтветитьI 100% need to figure out a way to wire some vintage ALPs (Pine Whites) into that thing.. the sheer thickness of the click would be worth it
ОтветитьI remember seeing a controller build that had two mechanical switches on the same button. One was set higher than the other so you had two ‘stops’ that you could click through. One would output the analog ‘half press’ and the other was the digital press. Not sure if something like that is feasible
ОтветитьNice. I’m looking at doing a similar thing so I can use a GameCube controller on Mario Kart games, Double Dash, Wii and 8 Deluxe.
ОтветитьThis is very cool. What I've done to get basic trigger plugs working in Ultimate by putting a PMOS that bypasses the potentiometer with its Gate attached to the digital trigger (so that the digital trigger press is also registered as a full analog press)
Ответитьcould you make them with keys that are quieter? reason for my question is when my brother and I play Smash bros we have gotten to the point where we subconsciously listen for our keypress's before we move on screen. Didn't know if they make cherry keys that are quiet or not
ОтветитьBukkin a mant
ОтветитьI love what you guys manage to do with the old GC controller, it's a shame I suck at every Smash Bros game :-(
ОтветитьThank you so much for checking out the video! If you have ideas/feedback, please leave it in the comments, but please keep it constructive. Some might be wondering what about the Right trigger and there will be a matching mod for that as well. Its just part of the iterative process I go through, get one side working correctly and then move to the other.
