I really need to learn stacking and post processing. I've gotten some really colorful pictures just attaching my phone to the eyepiece of my 12-in dubsonian and using 5 to 10 second long exposure. I also live in bortle 3, I'm sure that helps ;-)

That's pretty impressive for a single 2 sec exposure. I can't even come close to that with 200x 3s stacks

It’s almost like Messier 78 isn’t getting enough attention. I actually found it on accident with my 8 inch Dob. That aside, this image is really cool like all of the others.

Bro what iso u using be I do 5 sec exsposures for Orion at a much higher focal length but I don’t get nearly as much of the nebula in one shot as you do. Eventually I see the whole thing when I stack it but still.

I get the two second exposure photo all the time. I think that is what I'm missing is stacking the photos. One question, If you can't see the nebula in the two second exposure, what actually makes it so you can see all the DSOs in the stacked image? That part always confused me.

Yoo, I have a question. Not long ago I was learning taking lights, darks, bias and flats AND then stacking. While doing that I went through tons of articles and forums. One thing I got from all of that, is that stacking doesnt give you much of details (like colors, some kind of structures or what else), it just gives much less noise. For more details you should take longer exposures, whie stacking just reduces noice, is that correct? I am wondering because I am striving to get better photos with my Nikon D3400 + kitlens or 35mm f1.8. My budget is limited because of university and other things, getting 14mm f2.8 or tracker would be nice, but I wanna try getting the most outta my budget setup.. so yeah, is it possible to get more details with stacking or is it just for noise reduction?

Your one 2-second photo looks better than my 80 stacked together from my 10 year old crop dslr. Only tried once though...
