Really enjoy your channel. You find that using only one runner does not create consistency problems? I’ve made a few tablesaw sleds with varying success. But I always use both slots. Also, any reason why you can’t do the same on the opposite side of the fence?
Thank you for sharing.
I would be concerned about kick back. Because the cut off of the work piece has to drop down from the sled thickness to the table top as it is moving forward. A traditional sled prevents kick back because the cut off piece rides on the sled and doesn't fall to the table. What is your thought?
ОтветитьHey Colin .. Great video pal. Really enjoy ur videos bcos u take the time to show us the whole idea u have. U also explain it very clearly which is great for beginners like me.. Thanks very much my friend and keep up the great work. I salute u Sir from Dublin, Ireland.
ОтветитьThis great! Thanks
ОтветитьWish I had a jointer 😯😯😯
DIY sucks 😔😔😔
Excellent!
ОтветитьWhere do you find the plastic strip used on the bottom of the sled?
ОтветитьOh no!!!! Now I have to get a moisture meter😟
ОтветитьThanks bro
ОтветитьI have a Craftsman model # 137.218073 10" table saw with what looks like a T miter slot and I want to make a table saw sled can you show me how or even better make a video on how to do this or if you already have a video on this show me what to look for. I watch your video all the Time and love the way you describe what you are doing. Keep up the good work. I'm going to try to send you a picture of my table saw. Thanks
Ответитьthnx
ОтветитьWhere can we get the plastic strips for the miter rails
ОтветитьThanks a ton!!!
Most accurate 90 degree cuts ever on my portable tablesaw.
I realize this video is 2 years old, but I really appreciated the lesson! I also would like to know what material you used for the sled runners? Was it plastic Polyethylene? Thank you!
ОтветитьWhat’s the white material that fits into the miter guide rail?
ОтветитьPretty Flat!!?? hahahahah potato patata :)
ОтветитьWhat is the advantage of the sled when you have an accurate miter gauge with a long fence. Mine is an ancient Delta saw miter gauge.
Ответить"pretty flat" Colin? would you like to borrow my glasses and look again lol. Looks pretty bowed to me old chap. But I like the idea of that style of sled.
Ответитьspeedy nice thanks
ОтветитьHello I have a question ; how can I do a square jig . I just bought RYOBI table saw but has Only one miter slot in the right side facing to the table control ; I Heard you call like that . Do I have to buy an other table saw with two miter slot ? Or what do you recommend me . Thanks very much ; I love to watch your videos very helpful.
ОтветитьVery useful
ОтветитьIf decide to go with single rail, is there a suggested location?
Ответить"It's pretty flat"? That is one warped piece of plywood you're using for the base! So punk rock.
ОтветитьHi Colin, I normally use a compound miter saw or a radial arm saw for crosscuts. However I now have an 18" x 18" x 3/4" red oak I would to crosscut. Why do we not use the table saw fence to make this cut?
ОтветитьNice explanation, Colin. Dust caught between the material and the fence can throw off accuracy. A small but supremely useful detail to include is a 1/8" chamfer @45 degrees on the bottom front of the fence. This gives dust a place to go as you slide material up against the fence when making repeated cuts.
ОтветитьWhat is the actual name for that plastic material you used for the miter slot groove? I've been searching for it so I could build my sled
ОтветитьColin, I am a beginning woodworker. So, I am eager to learn. Please continue to post your videos. I have learned a bunch and saved a lot of money and time by watching your videos. They are really helpful. This one is no exception. Thanks.
ОтветитьGazzuba mastewba ??.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for in my shop. Simple, easy and VERY well explained! New subscriber.
ОтветитьThanks a lot for this simple and easy to follow sled Colin. Been thinking making my own sled as a beginner. I have seen a lot of your vidz and I learned a lot, new sub here cheers from Phil. stay safe Sir👍👍👍
ОтветитьThank you for the information!
ОтветитьThanks just what i needed😊
ОтветитьWow! From the simplicity of the sled, your excellent descriptions, easy to understand instructions and pretty much everything you did in this video, the is the best one I've seen! I've watched so many and there were so many good ones but after watching your video, I could probably just whip one out pretty quick! I've been a fan for a while now and I just wanted to say thank you! You're doing a great job! 👍🏿
ОтветитьLike it no bull thanks mal b
Ответитьwhat if ur saw only has one slot
ОтветитьAs the title says: "EASY". Not only is the sled easy to build and accurate but the tip about using a brad gun to initially attach the guides for the miter slot is just awesome. Made mine today in just over an hour. I used delrin to make the guide for the miter slot and cut it to the width and depth to fit perfectly. Another material I have used for projects like this is nylon from a white nylon cutting borard. Usually easy to find and fairly cheap. Ask permission before using the one your wife has in the kitchen.
ОтветитьMorning Colin.
I've recently retired and I intend to take up woodworking as a hobby.
My question is, what can one do with a crosscut sled that I can't do on a sliding mitre saw?
I've seen a number of vids on this topic, this one seems more my speed...no pun intended...thanks for posting!
ОтветитьGreat video and information! I just wish I saw this video sooner =D
ОтветитьEasy build crosscut sled........but wait you glued 2 pieces of stock together and then ran it through a jointer.........most of us who want a 'easy build crosscut sled' don't have a jointer.........
ОтветитьHi Colin.
I really like your videos. I am a new Business BCWoodworks77 on Facebook. I am a novice on my woodworking skills and am self-taught for the most part. It great when I run across someone like you that explains things so that they are easy to understand.
I saw in this video that you used a small green nailer on your table saw. What type of gun did you use where you didn't shoot through to the table saw.
looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Brandon

ОтветитьSo I don't buy much lumber for shop projects.. I make frankensteins! Am I crazy for thinking I need dead FLAT boards for making a jig like this? Might be a good video for us tablesaw newbies.. How flat is flat enough? You placed the curve of the base pointing down? Any other tips? I was saving some Blondewood plywood (blue big box store) off-cuts for jigs but ended up using them to make a doll house for my granddaughter.
ОтветитьAnother excellent video, Colin. I have made an almost identical sled but what I did first was cut the right side using the sled itself without the fence. I then used that cut side as my reference to square the fence. I guess its a similar process to yours where you are referencing off the slots NOT the blade. The only time your method won't work is if the right hand slot is not exactly parallel to the other slot but I doubt too many table saws have that problem but you never know.
ОтветитьThat piece of plywood is not flat
ОтветитьHi Colin. Paul from Tamworth England.i have been watching your channel for some time now and really enjoy your videos. Especially woodworking tips & hacks. I have been doing woodwork for three and a half years now since my retirement and really find it interesting. I just don’t know where the hours go in the day. I have recently purchased a table saw. And watched your video on how to make the easy crosscut sled. So I had a go following your instructions. Well Colin it turned out perfect. I am so pleased with myself. And now have the confidence to have a go at the miter sled. Thanks for your help. All the best Regards Paul 👍
ОтветитьThis type of sled is great for quick and dirty cross cuts. The main problem is you will get a lot more tear-out on the undersurface of the cut piece because it is above the blade insert.
ОтветитьI don't have a jointer. Can I just make 4 cuts?
ОтветитьI use a similar sled. I place a matching piece of base on the other side of the blade to prevent tear out and support waste side. This piece is held in place by wood mitre gauge blanks and with washer on end .
