I'm thinking about buying some very basic recording gear, but is there a way to record without the microphone, and still use your bass amp? I have an amazing sounding Hartke cabinet and head and I just want the recordings to sound exactly like my amp

Awful. I probably wouldn't advertise that this is how you record bass. Can't be good for business.

Get a bass player first.

Thanks for the video man!  The acoustic guitar sounds excellent!  I think a pick takes away from the warmth that probably could have been achieved, in the bass line, for this song.  It kinda adds that tinge that competes with the acoustic guitar.  I also would have liked to hear real drums.  But, the bass was tight.  Regardless, those are subjective opinions, and the sound was really clean and that's the purpose behind the video.  I wonder if a 58 would have been slightly better. By chance, have you tried one? I have a Beta 57, Beta 58, 57, and 58.  May be time for me to do a comparison video :).

Bass player's attack is a bit too much for this song. There should be more groove to the bassline. It seems very sterile and unoriginal. I think the pick does not do this song any justice. Play without the pick. Dont be afraid to step out of the box a little. It just seems too canned to me. Recording with a 57 is not a bad thing. You can actually get some decent tone. Ive used it in my recordings and it sounds great. It's much more punchier in the mix then direct.
