i see why you have 1m subscribers. was entertaining. and useful.
ОтветитьWhy the fuck would you try to calibrate DISPLAY not from the DISPLAY's settings menu
Ответитьi actually get ill looking at a bright monitor. takes about 30 min. feel overstimulated and need to lay down. its like uncontrollable physical response. i dont understand how people who work at a pc aren't lowering light more.
ОтветитьI went through same hell with calibration. Colors got messed up, I considered everything and did calibration correctly, even bought new calibrator and still had horrible colors... I could not go back and only solution I found was to force NVidia profile over calibrated, that helped. I have spyder calibrator as well, I am so disappointed.
ОтветитьHaha..Yea definitely been there. XD
ОтветитьI wish they would sponsor me... and I'd tear them apart with errors and messages like "SanityCheckLUT Failed 0, 0, 0" and that it can't get the white point right and fault, fault, fault, fault.... doesn't work. Yay. $180 down the tubes...
ОтветитьRidiculous,it takes ten minutes to calibrate a monitor correctly to show whatever file you have in any colourspace in any app.
ОтветитьYour work is great. Glad that you became convinced of proper calibration. Smart of Datacolor to have reached out. Uncalibrated monitors can be the death of image processors. Brightness and contrast affect color balance and also saturation levels. In the past, color management WAS more frustrating as you describe. Not only Windows apps, but as you mention, Internet Explorer, this because, some browsers were not color managed. Today, most are. Not to throw a wrench into the works, but many photographers say that free, DisplayCal software does an even better job with the Spyder, than the Spyder's native software. A bit trickier to set up and longer runtime, but superior. Thanks!
ОтветитьWhy use a device and not simply bring up something like NTSC color bars and use the monitor's own adjustments that way or use a standard color photo that you know has correct colors and manually adjust using the monitor's own setting controls?
Ответитьdamn that music is distracting. reallly dates it.
ОтветитьIf you were worried about bricking your system which BTW this is not the case with colour calibration - use Macrium Reflect you could literally back up your entire OS as an image file while you are still using the OS ( I wouldn't do it however while you are doing the calibration as that defeats the purpose ) and then if your calibration went nuts and you couldn't figure out how to go back - restore your system including ALL of your installed software and settings back to exactly what it was before you started - I.E not what windows considered you started with which would keep bodgy settings. I recommend Macrium as it is perfect for doing full system backups, differential backups, drive resizing for if you get a new NVME or SSD and the best part is the ransomware protection aspect of it. It will save your skin and has saved mine now a couple of times. Plus even if you have to clean things off completely once restored you've lost nothing but some time but much less time than you would re installing everything manually.
ОтветитьThanks.
ОтветитьI'm yelling for him to click one of the images after the calibration. Lol. Oh there not he clicked it.
ОтветитьI use a laptop that has a 32" monitor attached to it, I don't use the laptop monitor for editing. When it asks what type of monitor are you using, Desktop or Laptop, which one do I choose?
Thanks.
Yes
ОтветитьIt's funny how most calibration corrections on LCD matrixes are all about switching to warmer tones, something like tweaking the Greens and Blues, but keeping the Reds in standard 255, making whites seems a lit bit magenta or "orange ish".
ОтветитьIt is better to have oversaturated monitor as always a lose overdoing the colours.
Ответитьwhy is the music like some motivational quotes videos.
ОтветитьYou missed the whole point you had to print it to see the print
ОтветитьI once started a job as a frontend developer, wherein we were two guys that basically had to implement a new design. You will not believe the amount of issues we ran into with colouring because the designer didn't understand the technical aspects of color profiles etc. It's a huge headache if you don't handle it properly.
ОтветитьSo is better to have a calibrated and an uncalibrated monitor? So I can check how will it look when printed and when shared online.
ОтветитьI began to practice my photography with a digital camera in the mobile phone era. When I calibrated my laptop with colormunki, I got the mess you are talking about. The same photo looks very different in my laptop than in other uncalibrated devices that my clients use.
ОтветитьI totally understood your feelings, that happened to me as well when I got the Spyder 4 in 2014, and I told myself I will never touch a calibration again, spent so much time to read up, used 3rd part apps, to finally give up on it. Now that I want to bring my laptop out for work and realised it's not colour in sync, I decided to see if there's any updates to it, and chance upon your video. THANK YOU :)
ОтветитьThank You
ОтветитьCheap and inaccurate.
ОтветитьIf your monitor is calibrated and looks muted. It doesn't mean anyone with an ubcalibrated monitor is going to see it as muted. It's actually the inverse. What an idiot
ОтветитьThanks for walking us through it from beginning to end!
ОтветитьWhat does it look like on your phone compared to the monitor? (i.e. where most people will see your work)
ОтветитьWhat was the calibrators brightness recommendation?
ОтветитьWhen I calibrated my monitor about 5-6 years ago, I encountered the color destruction like u did. I just recalibrated my new monitor and I think they did something to correct it quite abit.
ОтветитьVery nice video. How much often is recommended to calibrate screen in printing business?
ОтветитьYeah it sounds insane because I had to calibrate my new DELL bc my photos were not postable with the completely inaccurate colors, contrast, and brightness
ОтветитьI'm sorry, BRICKING?! Can't you just... Re-calibrate it to default colors? What is this can't restore nonsense? Heck normally your Intel display or Nvidia/AMD graphics driver gives you complete control over your colors. HOW!!! Are you doing this to yourself?
ОтветитьI need help 😭 I broke my monitor trying to calibrate it. 255 green is now very light green, blue is now baby blue, and red is slightly orange and I CANT fix it. I used the x-rite i1 display 2, with the lg calibration studio, on an lg34wk95u. And my bad settings are BAKED IN to windows somewhere. I tested my display with another device and thankfully the monitor still works, but windows is busted and I’ve scoured the internet and even called a tech support company
Ответитьeizo
Ответить"Im pretty good with computers."
- Attempts a windows restore revert to change color settings.
- Does a clean wipe reinstall to get rid of a color profile.
- Wrong settings in the OS is apparently a bricked computer.
A bold statement. Anyone who knows computers would say no. As a tech support I would say decent as most people have no clue about basic computer knowledge.
Excellent. But this is just one step on the stairway. For a future video I would love to see calibration from camera right through to print. Please 👍👍
Ответитьwhy don't u print it :)
ОтветитьThe most difficult thing to achieve in monitors is only one color!!! And that’s the BLACK!!!! All the rest is peanuts! Thanks for the video though.
ОтветитьNow that's what I call a review! Very insightful!
ОтветитьLittle tip: There are places that rent out high end models for like 20 bucks a day. No need to buy some budget option that you only rlly use every couple of years ;)
ОтветитьHi there, hoping you can help. I am able to find plenty of information on the X version, but struggling to find information on if there is any significant performance upgrade between my spyder 4 to the X. Where is struggle most is printing accuracy to my screen, I've done everything like kill off screen brightness immensely to 60 (below recommended levels of 90-120) but still my prints come out darker than screen (store or home printed both). I don't want to buy a printer calibrator as they are extremely expensive and I don't really print enough to justify the costs, but I would at least like the screen to convey similar results. There is a promo on the X right now, expires tonight. Very interested to hear your thoughts.
ОтветитьYou should calibrate if the monitor is intended to be calibrated :) which means it’s hardware calibrated. In your case it’s just a random data warping that your graphic card is doing in order to change the colour output but it’s not accurate for sure! Calibration only make sense in hardware calibrated monitor :)
ОтветитьDid you try to compare the Spyder X with a real colorimeter ? Because I did. The Spyder x is complete garbage. I hope Datacolor read this ! If you want a good thing, just make the Spyder 2 faster and start sell it, it is way more acurate !
ОтветитьDude, your camera's ISO is at like 16 000 isn't it? lmao
Ответитьthe before after difference on spyder software is fake anyway. the image is actually changing to another image.
ОтветитьUse macOS
ОтветитьIt never bricked s computer lol.
Flip side, you only need calibration for print images. Anything shared online should be edited for online masses.
