Baldur's Gate 3 Best Race: Which Race is best for your Class?

I always pick the beastmen race in these types of games because I’m so jaded with elves, humans, dwarves, orcs and other humanoid creatures. Especially the popular Kemonomimi hybrids between human and beast but just ears and tail.

Added - If there was an undead race I would always choose that one! Pity Necopoloids aren’t popular except as enemies.

I’m having a lot of fun as a shield dwarf storm sorcerer. Medium armour, axes, using flight to leap into melee range. Feels quite cool.

I feel like dragonborns, for all they are incredibly cool looking, don't really get much. Oh sure, dragon's breath is good but usable once without a short or long rest is only ok and the damage reduction for certain elements isn't great either and is only situationally good

Notes:
#1 I think I saw it working so Elves are immune to Ghoul's paralyze attacks. Not the damage, but the paralysis effect itself. It's a lore thing.
#2 Ironically Shield Dwarves who are supposed to be one of the most martial subraces in the game is trash for martial classes in this game. The movement speed penalty was offset by the fact they don't need str to wield armour AND the fact their racial bonus was +2 str and +2 con making them really good at reaching 20-20. But since statbonuses were nixed, the races got really inbalanced.
On the other hand Hill Dwarves/Gold Dwarves are still pretty good and could be fun playing a hill dwarf dragonblood sorcere with the tough feat (totals to a +4 health/level which is significant when you consider the d6 that's the sorc hit die)
#3 I think Duergar also get some bonus abilities on later level, don't they?

It really feels like Dragonborn got the short end of the stick…

One buff for gith is that a lot of gith gear works beater for them compared to other races.

End of the day best race is Gith. Free misty step is cracked.

I’m stuck between a half orc or wood elf ranger. I know the benefits to wood elf but I really like orcs for RP. They are known to be big brutes but mine would be a big softy that cares for animals and protects his friends. Reminds me of myself in a solid dude but not aggressive unless I have to be and I really like animals lol

Given the lack of resistances, bonus powers, and dark vision, I cannot think of any reason to choose Human in Bg3.

I wanna play a Half-Elf just bc well I feel like I’m real like I could be one since I got the bone structure, height, and body shape of one😂. But idk if I want to play A high elf or a drow bc a high elf gets picked a lot and some of the gameplays I’ve watched drows tend to be not the best people and get hated on but idk I just want to be different and be an ACTUAL a good drow…but definitely would give off anti hero

Drow Half-elf really got shized on in my opinion

The best playable race is a dwarf with the biggest beard possible.

Half Wood Elf because it's stupid broken to give shield and light armor proficiency, bonus speed, AND Darkvision. The fact they threw light and shield on humans just straight up makes it amazing to play arcane casters

I like halflings in this game. Very Tolkien of them to be Lucky and Brave. One of my favorite parts in the LOTR is when Gandalf is talking about why he admires Hobbits so much, how indomitable their attitude is. Their capacity for bravery is as extraordinary as the capacity of their stomachs. They are the least corruptable race in Middle Earth and the most adaptable to adversity in direct spite of their stature and I love them for it. Its easy for a deft elf or a strong warrior to be brave, they can trust in their prowess as warriors. Hobbits are motivated by the power of hope and friendship, its very anime.

I think that the Lucky trait is really cool because it changes the probability of your critical fails from 5% to 0.25% , but I wonder if it also stacks with Advantage/Disadvantage. If so, there's a 9.75% chance of a single re-roll, thus essentially giving you a three rolls to pick the best of, and that same 0.25% chance of picking the best from four rolls. I think it's really worth looking at the probability curve change that this trait gives.

the bass on the audio is nuts, sm58 not only suck they have created a generation of podcasters that think too much bass in a human voice is just right. wth, this is unlistenable

In pathfinder 1st addition for D&D, I play a female Kitsune barbarian built around a naked courage perk. Her AC and weapon accuracy both ended up being the very highest in my party, and her kitsune shapeshifting race made her werewolf turning proof. I get to shove her right into every werewolfs face and rage away and never worry how much of my 50 hp I loose.
I'm upset that this game lacks a Kitsune race equivalent and that the 2 obviously strongest races are the ugliest.
I'd either snipe as a drow or do whatever as a white dragonborn. I also hear I'll be liable to save scum a ton and cheese out fights only my future self could've seen coming in immersion breaking fasion.
