The Rosewood
- The Tune Vault
by Stewart Hardy
It's no surprise that this fabulous, driving jig is popular throughout Britain and Ireland as well as North America. It is sometimes attributed, somewhat dubiously, to James Scott Skinner, but regardless, it is well embedded in folk traditions. As with all single octave tunes in A ranging from tonic to tonic, it works really well on the ‘Open A’ tuned fiddle (AEAE), with the opportunity to play it an octave down on the lower two strings whilst keeping the same fingering.
