I first heard this guy in the early seventies with his album " Feel Your Groove". He's top notch. His works include some soundtrack work, I believe, and if I'm not mistaken, he has at least one relative in the biz.

I have never heard such cool cover versions of Dylan's songs. This album (Dylan Different) is just perfect.

Ben Sidren's been a writer of classic rock - Space Cowboy - arranger of note, etc,etc etc for over 40 years. Mostly living in Madison W!

I've loved listening to Ben Sidran for years. But I didn't know he had the guts to tackle a Bob Dylan song. Actually I like it better than Dylan's. Is there a CD with him doing covers of Dylan or others?

Also has a brother who plays (and I'm guessing writes) on a number TV shows. Have not heard a CD by him. Do love this CD (haven't heard the entire thing). He sounds slightly dissolute, which makes him quite sexy.

JUST GOT THE BEN SIDRAN CD! The writeup in the liner notes sounds like he doesn't think he's as good a musician as Dylan. Well, his versions of the songs are really fun and good. And he's as good or better than Dylan. I'm listening now to Subterranean Homesick Blues right now and love it.

Leo Sidran is Ben's son, not his brother, and has played with Ben since he was quite young. He plays drums and bass.

One if the certainly best artists to ever come out of the U.S. - the best artist you've probable never heard if.
He's been around a long, long time - and I think that eventually, his music will be very well known - unfortunately, like so many artists that didn't "fit in" with the musical styles of the time - doomed to relative obscurity in the here-and-now.
But he will, in the end, have the last laugh - like Mozart, and so many great artists before him and after him.
Artists who do not compromise their inner vision, and the music around it, are the ones that last forever.
They really, as a rule don't want fame: it just gets in the way. And they pay a hard price for it.
I love this man, as an artist, and as a human being.
Long may his musical flag fly.

I've been diggin' Ben since "The Doctor Is In" came out in the late 70's. He picked up the mantle of 'cool' from Mose Allison and ran with it. I think his reworking of Dylan numbers is brilliant.
