How tough can it be? MSI B450 Tomahawk - BIOS Update

One important tip for you guys! There is an option for you to contact AMD if you want to update the BIOS with the CPU installed. They will ship the cheap athlon CPU to your adress for you to be able to update the BIOS, but after you successfully do it, the CPU has to be returned to AMD.

Nobody seems to mention that the USB drive has to be formatted using FAT32. NTFS won't work. And - at least on my board - the USB drive has to be in the USB port on the back that's labelled M-flash

I have the exact same Motherboard with a Ryzen 5 2600. I'm looking to update to a 3600x. While I do this "FLASH" process, I leave in the 2600 and then once the BIOS is updated. I can swap out the 2600 with the 3600x?

I did everything wrong. I watched the MSI video, I downloaded the latest bios update form the b450 tomahawk, copied the file into my USB with other programs on it, plugged the pendrive while still on windows and flashed the BIOS.

Now I get the CPU red light on my mobo, a black screen and no post sound.

Zen hopefully you will see this- but flashing BIOS did not work. I have the Tomahawk B450 Max and the Ryzen 5 2600. Out of the box it does not post. I have gone through the process of updating the bios using the flash bios tool with success, but upon turning the PC, I'm still faced with a CPU debug LED and no post.

I used the software tool and during update the computer froze and it wouldn't boot(completely black screen)

Fortunately when i updated the BIOS using the Flashback function, the computer booted just fine.

I have the broblem, my bios version on tomahawk max out of the box is 3.40 amd sometimes pc running but not post so i have to try resterting a couple of time to post my spec Pc Specifications:

Hello, I could use some help. I just ordered a MSI B450 Tomahawk (NOT THE MAX because it was out of stock) ... does that MB have out-of-the-box support for a Ryzen 5 3600x? or will I end up having to upgrade the bios. this will be my first pc build, so any help will be greatly appreciated

Is it correct that we still call it BIOS? Shouldnt it be UEFI, or just because we are familiar with it

If i build my pc first but it has the amd ryzen 3200 in it can i download the file with the cpu already installed on the 450 tomahawk max or do i need to have a processor thats not ryzen 3000 to perform the update?

Did exactly what you did on my PC however when it got to 100% it went black my keyboard and lights on my pc are still lit up but screen is black. Been this way for about 4-5 mins.... did I do something wrong?

Nice I'ma try this tonight in running a 3700x with this board want to run 3600 mghz ram and heard u had to update ur bios to do so !!

When I download the BIOS file, it doesn't come as a .zip file; it says it's a zipped file and the files inside of it don't look similar to the ones in the video
