I'm from the Midwest and we call that knife a Butterfly knife.

I'll open and hand some people at work a balisong, but I never let them play with it. I generally surround myself with smart, technical people at work(not the engineers). They get it. My girlfriend doesn't. She doesn't get the balisong. She gets the Cold Steel Recon 1 four inch clip point. It's big, but it's got a big, strong backstrap lock and an amazing grip texture. If you've never held one, I highly recommend it. The grip is like 60 grit sandpaper. It's mean... for a few months. Then it's just decently aggressive.
