Repeatability of this game is insane.

It makes you play through Act 1-5 three times to start with lol

started few weeks ago again new with D2r, this time single offline, no trading, first sorc, mfing meph hell as soon it was possible, LK ~650, ~550 mephi, now i have ww barb with 1 Grief, lawbringer, coh etc. , having a lot of fun so far. Watching these playthroughs is a lot of fun here

My favorite thing about D4 is how many new people it brought to D2R and D3. lol.

The one missing piece was Mana Leech to make the build sustainable, one of my preferred things to do to get a whirly going is a bit of Meph farming to get one or even two Tal's helms for me and my merc. Oath is incredible, but finding the base is harder than finding the Mal.

Playing at 8 player with a whirlwind barb in places like the Pits or the council even the main problem you have is too many items on the screen, trying to move around the pile to ensure you dont miss a ber or a jah or something. I wish they would do something about that. Everything that drops should show on screen.

Great playthrough. Watched while leveling my ww barb for fun. Crazy how you fast you push through hell 😁 i am level 75 n its a struggle for but not impossible as you show how it can be done with less. Bravo

I had Ber fall out of some poppable there recently. Far better than anything I've found popping over 16000 super chests during this string of runs.

Isnt it possible to improve a low quality item to normal quality? They cant balance the game around level 100 players...I don't care about getting to max level. I do care about an economy and D4 items are trash and there is no economy

this is very nice, i did a playthrough with barb in normal while watching this. he's still faster.

In classic a 7% manald holds a good spot until you get a really good rare.

In D4 once you stop getting skill points it is kind of meh, the Paragon board is easy to unlock all the major nodes.

long story about the D2/D4 discussion i want to share!
people and llama are comparing an almost beta release version of D4 with a 23 years old matured version of a game. d2 had some radical changes in its time and was very very different to what it is now, even before d2r.
i got D2 in 2000 in germany as a kid. and honestly, it was a pretty shitty game! we have to remember that we had literally zero meta information which skill/build would work and which ones were useless (which were most). we didnt know how to play, the game mechanics or which items to equip. you had no mana potions and like every caster character was completely unplayable. i started a summon necro and would stand around for minutes just to regen some mana. i couldnt finish act 1 or beginning of act 2. then i played a zeal paladin and got him to around lvl 20 and could not finish act 3. i put a lot of points in zeal, could not hit anything and got stuck in the endless zeal loop and die. it was awful. the mercs were absolute trash and you couldnt equip them. there were only some uniques and they were all garbage. the game would crash regularly. i stopped playing and only some years later due to a friend i started playing again with LOD. LOD is a very different game than classic. i know some people are playing classic, but i would argue classic was pretty bad and was like an incomplete faulty beta version to LOD which is the real D2 game.
I played a lot of 1.09 to 1.12 in battlenet europe. battlenet was a mess in combination with the internet connection at this time. i remember many times where i died due to 10 second lags or battlenet disconnects. many times your character would be set back like half an hour or so which was very frustrating when you found a good item in that time. not to mention the myriad other problems like bots, dupes, trade hacks, etc.
In LOD, only with version 1.10 (2003) the skill synergies were added which completely changed the game, also with some negative aspects to it! also the very well needed runewords insight and spirit were added. but only to battlenet, god knows why. they intentionally made single player worse then battlenet. before, your casual sorc would run around with some stupid rare wand and a stupid rhyme shield.
only in 1.11 (2005) the merc levels at the traders were according to character level. before you had to completely level them from nightmare or in some cases from normal up to hell which was a horrible pain. thus most people wouldnt use mercs and if they did it was a one time decision.
The respec at akara in act 1 was only added in 1.13c (2010)!! before this you could not change any skills. thus for most characters the gameplay up to level 30 or 35 was complete shit and nobody would actually play this part except for ladder reset. also iron maiden curse in chaos sanctuary was removed. before this, hell act 4 would not be playable for any melee character and a solo run would be nearly impossible and completely impossible for hc.
still to this day almost all sets are garbage. you only use two or three pieces but never the full set. even the character elite sets are total garbage. the only sets used are ik because its cheap and rarely you will see a complete tals. still to this day many skills are completely useless. for more than 20 years, the complete martial arts skill tree of assassin was complete garbage! act 1, 3 and 5 mercs are still garbage compared to act 2 merc.
D2 has nailed the core gameplay, rng and itemization. it has very little content but its no problem to replay it over and over. but it is by no way perfect and still has problems. but for like 20 years we got used to them and ignore them by now.
i know it was a different time for gaming and the gaming industry. but man, give D4 some time and a chance.

I did solo ssf p8 hc ww barb :D imo some uniques are better choise than insight due to slow ias. I had super lucky drop when farming nm and found perfect ribcracker that carried me to hell act 2. But now Im stuck and not sure how to continue without dying. P8 makes it hard hah.

Eh im essentially done with Diablo 2 unless a seriously game adding patch is made. Had fun originally playing D2 in 2000 and D2R but im having fun with D4 and still am. Alot of improvements can still be made but overall a solid B+ of a game and look forward to whats to come.

one of the perfect examples of D2. Your just playing through the game, then something happens. Then you farm that spot for hours. I love this game.

That feeling when you make a much more powerful weapon and suddendly you start smashing everything, priceless.

so glad i can watch some D2 had my fill of the boring mess which is D4 not even finished the main quest and don't think I want to either. No motivation barely been a month from release thought it would hold my attention for longer than that

Hey llama. So i play on switch and there is a dupe method on single player console but when done in reverse you lose the items instead, it involves moving items from 1 stash space to another. Anyway latly as in the past few days i seem to be doing this by mistake when closing my game. Its caused me to lose a wolfhowl and a tals armour and wand

That sur rune drop reminds me of when I got a Harlequin Crest and Eschuta's Temper just while playing through the game casually on the same character. Gratz on the high rune.

There is not a game on earth that can convince this guy.. he is a D2 nerd all the way. and that's fine. for myself i'l go have fun playing something new (D4) until a new arpg comes along and i will play that instead.. this guy whoever will probably die and have the D2 screen still running on his desktop..
