Dead by Daylight on Epic Games was a Disaster

I have played F2P games with better anti-cheats than DbD(when it was only payed). The issue with DbD is that it's monetization is already worse than F2P games, because of the grind, and competitive advantages you get from certain DLC characters, not to mention the insane pricing for cosmetics. So either DbD should go f2p, or it should get much better as a game.

They need to please just get an anti cheat software so good it’s better than Fortnite’s.

Worst thing to happen to DBD, so many hacker's specifically come from the Epic launcher. Don't know why though.

Epic will throw any and every kind of offer to game devs to come to their platform in a hopeless attempt to somehow beat Steam. Steam will never be dethroned. At least not in Gabe's lifetime. If there is a company that I actually like and want to remain, that would be Valve.

If they make it free forever on all platforms, make a Prime Matching System like CSGO/CS2 has.

i got it for free cause my steam got deleted for no reason so i didnt wanna spend 16 bucks again, and since it was free on epic games im just playing it on epic games with my friend, hes on epic aswell. we both wouldnt spend 16 bucks on it (i probably would), he wouldnt for sure cause he doesnt wanna spend money on games.

I only joined DBD because i got it for free on Epic Games. I didn't even know what the game was... it was sitting in my library for a year. I just got into it this year with friends, they all bought it on Steam but I already had it! Super fun, I bought the Sadako Rising DLC!

However, one person in the game was telling me that my David King was making no noise. Idk what that meant, but I definitely don't cheat and don't know how to cheat. Can this mean my account was affected?

I'm sorry but free games? It doesn't sound right. Epic Games is shady as hell to me. Coming from Fortnite so even moreso.

I mean all of that is true but that very free to play got me into dbd and I ended up liking it so much that I bought it on steam and I bet I'm not the only one

The thing is, with the damage from the Epic Games offer having already happened, what would making the whole game F2P do to make it worse? Cheaters already have a vast supply of free accounts .

I'm happy they made it free at the time, I could finally play it, and been playing on epic since that day, just really sad that cheaters always ruin everything

I don't think the problem is "being free" but actually the game being unprotectedly free and many other things.
Free games are always welcome, that way more people are able to have fun with a game, but if you do it in the wrong way of course lots of problems come with it.
The problem with DBD being free is that the protection against cheaters is really not enough even on Steam and the penalties might not be very effective. Behaviour and other platforms should also work together on making it possible to show everyone's profiles in a way, that way you can see everyone's hours and other things.
When you actually think about it the problems are MANY other things and not the game being free, and those other things have solutions, but they have to focus and work on it.

I got 3 classmates who installed it from Epic then played it for less than an hour and uninstalled it. Literally there was no point in collaboration between Epic and Dbd

I always tought that the anti-cheat thing would actually prevent players from using cheats in DBD but i guess i was wrong...

The problem wasn't the game being free for everyone, the problem is that BHVR doesn't care about the game's security and literally doesn't acknowledge the problems. The only reason why they started doing work is because the were starting to lose players and Fog Whisperers started to speak up. They did it EXACTLY for the same reason they reworked prestiges: to shut our mouths. But the way they did it was lazy and uninspired in both cases.

I agree it was and still is a disaster because of cheaters, but it's also what got me to try the game out and I've been hooked since (no pun intended ofc). I did switch to steam after a couple of months, though.

If developers did a better job to combat cheaters this problem would not be as harsh

me and my friends we're super happy when it went free on epic because we really didn't want to spend 20 bucks EACH on a game we knew was likely we wouldnt like, and none of us unfortunately had the foresight to see "hey we kinda like this maybe we should get it on steam" and now its a year later and ive dumped probably a hundred bucks and hundreds of hours and every time anyone says "we should ban epic games accounts" im like yeah,,, you probably should for the hacking reasons alone, and then let people transfer their LEGIT stuff they've earned over to a steam account... but then that would be silly wouldnt it because as epic players we will never be able to confirm that we got our stuff legit because most of us are actually just cheaters. i actually ran into a cheater the other week and let them play with me and my friends for a bit and they lied to my face about it despite being the most obvious cheater ive ever seen so yeah, i agree 100% it was horrible and cheaters flooded the game and if they just made the game cheaper than 20 bucks so many more people [who actually want to play for real] would probably join because i never would have played if it wasnt free or cheap. also they should just give people more leeway about cosmetics anyway since the fomo and micro transactions of some of the newer stuff is frankly disgusting and taking advantage of people with poor impulse control, like people with ocd and adhd, but thats a whole other discussion about the games industry's predatory financial behavior

For epic games you don't need a bypass like in steam. That makes all cheats work

I get DBD from Epic for free and I spend a lot of hours playing and I want to migrate my account and playtime to Steam. I have a friend that works on BHVR that when u migrate ur account from Epic to Steam there's a chance that ur save file from Epic will be erase for unknown reasons, that's why I hesitant to migrate in steam.

I've always had sketchy feelings about games being free on the Epic Games Store and now this confirms a suspicion I had that something bad is happening with this kind of tactic of giving out games.

cheaters are scum, they should stick to cheating in single player games.

Epic Games was actually the reason I got into DBD played for a bit then play it frequently now with that said I eventually bought the steam version of it after 2 months since it went free a year ago and now got all DLCs available.

At least it’s on game pass so most people can just play it and don’t need it for free
