Audacity How to Edit Tutorial : Merge Tracks

I'm sure this is a stupid question but I can't figure it out for the life of me.  My daughter's 6th grade class is graduating and their last big "group project" was to write an original story.  Each child wrote a chapter, each chapter was recorded and each child received a file of all the individual tracks in mp3  format for a total of 24 mp3's.   What I'm trying to do and having zero luck figuring out, is how to make an "audio book" of their story. Everything is already recorded,  I just have zero idea how to put it together, complete with chapter breaks so the kids can ff or rewind (like you know, an actual audiobook lol). I found a program that merged all the tracks into one track but it's just one long file with no chapter breaks and that's not exactly what I wanted lol.   Is it even possible to make an audio book in audacity?  I would just burn them a bunch of cd's but they really want a file they can download and I just...I'm in over my head lol. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Andrew, your videos are fantastic! I have a problem....don't know if you can help ... I've changed a setting and I messed up my recording input level. Now, at about the 2 second mark of a sustained note, my voice drops into a sort of darth vader mouse sound. Also, the entire voice has a radio voice tin can type of sound. I've spent countless hours and cannot figure out what setting I ruined and why my voice virtually disappears at 2 seconds. Don't know if there is a way to restore all default settings.  Any suggestions?

When you use duplicate Audacity will create an exact copy of the existing track. This is good for adding effects. I have many more tutorials on Audacity on my site MakeAndBreakEducation (link in video description) Andrew

You sure can. I have a basic video in my channel on how to combine tracks together like that. It takes some patience though. It is worth having a listen to some E-603 to see how he was able to splice tracks together. Let me know how you do? Andrew

Hey Agro. First off, what kind of mic are you using? So mics provide better low end than others. Also, do you have your mic input turned up high enough in Audacity? Make sure you are close enough to your mic when you are singing. Try those couple of things and let me know how it goes? A
