all these radio broadcasts are a description of everything surrounding the events leading up to the nuke's impact. the cult and joseph took power because the world was fragile. the collapse was a very real thing. it's how and why the peggies formed. it's basically an army of fucked up people from all walks of life finding pupose and something to grasp a hold of as everything falls apart. it's a twisted sect of christianity formed by abused and broken people.

i see the game as a warning of what could potentially happen if people aren't careful

In the opening cinematic of the game, they say that the Peggies took control of the radio station. And being that all of the "news reports" are voiced by the same person, no matter time of day, they could very well be fake reports from the Peggies to scare any residents of Hope County that are hearing them into willing joining Eden's Gate. That also makes sense why when the sheriff turns on the radio in the 'Walk Away' ending, it's already playing "Only You".
Also, if other countries were going to launch nukes on the U.S., the most likely targets would be: D.C., N.Y.C., or L.A., ...not middle of nowhere Montana. I think that Joseph was the one responsible for the launch, setting a timer just before exiting the church to meet you. AND, I don't think they were nukes! If there were 3 nukes detonated that closely together...they wouldn't have had time to even take shelter inside the church, much less make it all the way to Dutch's bunker.
I think the stress Joseph had about becoming a father was already pushing him to his limit and the death of his wife pushed him overboard. Realizing he would have all the same stresses, plus potential health problems of having a prematurely born child and having to now do it all by himself, I think he had a schizophrenic break and the "voice of God" he hears is just his own delusional mind.

On the first play through I missed these broadcasts. But now with this, and the context that the cult had built fall out shelters makes the ending make MUCH more sense. On top of that, it adds to the message that your a mindless tool. Because instead of just following missions and blindly raiding outposts, you could have caught on that shit was going down. But instead of preparing for the worst, you were the catalyst that undid Peggies efforts for survival. You actively screwed over so many people. If you had just listened, you could have saved your friends, and possibly evacuated. But no, you saw the Seeds as nothing but a threat. You set your mind to do nothing but to take out your target, region by region. And in a way, your mindless violence almost made you as bad as the Peggies. Kind of messed up when you take a closer look

THEY’RE BOTH REAL. The missiles are in the air regardless of your choice. Moscow has been nuked, Trump has been moved to the bunker, emergency managers are in the major US cities. All of this is confirmed by the radio broadcasts you will hear as you drive to where it all began.

shortly before you arrive to see Joseph one last time, Ajay is discovering Pagan’s message about his nuke stash pointed at Montana all at that same time. ICBM flight time from Russia to Montana is just under 30 minutes and the IRL geographical position of Kyrat would make those about 35 minutes out. They’re coming though either way and honestly it’s actually realistic for Montana to get by HUNDREDS of nukes not just the 6 you see in the game from the end of resist (3 outside bunker 3 once you’re in) seeing how Montana is a nuke sponge irl.
In fact, now that we have other games to back up what I’m saying, when you think about it the only thing you’re actually choosing when you choose an ending, is whether you get to see the bombs go off or not. You resist, you spend most of the flight time fighting in vain and then bombs hit. Walk away and you get hypnotized, kill your three friends and head for the bunker. Either way collapse happens to make room for new dawn lol

In the crashed plane in which you can also find the Sam Fisher outfit there is a screen on which you can see along the USA and Alaska and the information from Far Cry 6 after Kyrat red dots that are supposed to represent the atom explosions. We also know that the atomic bombs that exploded in Hope County came from Kyrat. But you don't see red dots on this screen in Europe, Russia or anywhere else. Does this mean that this recording was from the beginning of the nuclear war or that really only these parts were affected? That wouldn't fit with the radio info.

Didn't Far Cary 4 foreshadow this ending? Didn't they point nuclear weapons at Montana? I remember seeing something like that or hearing about it in the game.

This is tied into Far Cry 4. In the Pagan Min DLC in FC6, Pagan tells Ajay through a radio that he hated how America kept involving themselves in Kyrat and got Nuclear Warheads underneath his bunker for a fail safe. The news here said that all US citizens should return immediately if they were travelling towards Asia. Kyrat borders on Tibet, Bihar, and India, all of which are technically considered Asian countries.
The only question is, who shot first? Sabal was a religious nut job while Amita was planning on using child soldiers. Both of which clearly had no quarrels with doing this that are considered completely drastic

Here’s how I would’ve written the ending: The Deputy rounded up all of his allies, new and old to arrest Joseph Seed, the falsifier. As they walk towards the church, guns pointed aimed at him, Joseph speaks to the Deputy, how everything that happened was his fault alone. After given the chance to walk away, the Deputy refuses, knowing doing so would give Joseph the chance to retake Hope County or worse, allow him to go into hiding and make a cult elsewhere. The Deputy says a passage from the Bible, Matthew 7:15. Infuriated, Joseph grabs a trigger from his inside his belt and pulls it. The barrels of bliss explode. The Deputy undergoes a hallucinogenic battle with a terrifying angelic version of Joseph, which morphs into a devil. He defeats him, but not before nukes go off in the distance, and the Deputy blacks out from the blast front. He awakes later with the help of his friends, who explain the barrels of bliss caused the deputy to go into a frenzy while then rest were mentally incapacitated by the drug. During this, the deputy managed to defeat Joseph, who The Chief now says is being transferred to San Quentin. The Deputy decides to stay in Hope County, as they have considered it their home, the land they fought and bled for. For his efforts, Hope County gave the Deputy full ownership of Seed Ranch. In a final scene, the Deputy gets in their plane and flies over the county, contemplating their future.
