Excellent video, thank you! You are my favorite explainer…
ОтветитьFabulous video, I’m still fairly new to spinning and spin on a drop spindle, I’m wondering if it’s possible to spin rolags on a drop spindle? Thanks, Gez
ОтветитьJillian, you are such a great teacher! Learning so much from you.😊
ОтветитьAmazing! Something I LOVE about the rollags blended on the board is that you can spin each one separatelly then ply it, so the final yarn will keep the gradient 🤩
How lovely is that? I can see garments knitted with this.
Interessantes anschauliches Experiment. Sehr schön :)
ОтветитьI love them all! But if I had pick just one I would say the blending board.
ОтветитьIgnorant question: is the separating technique for material that you didn't choose yourself, like from a subscription or as a gift? Because otherwise I'm not sure why someone wouldn't just buy the fiber in another form?
ОтветитьI love all the yarns. The blending board one definitely had the most definitive color shifts, but I suppose whether I use it or not depends on the project.
PS-do you 2-ply all your yarns when you spin them?
All the results were so beautiful in different ways! I like all the different options you shared!
ОтветитьCan you use a drop spindle and spin from the fold?
ОтветитьI'm tied between the blending board and across the top. They're both so beautiful!!! 😍
ОтветитьI'm barely a novice when it comes to yarn, frankly it's a bit intimidating, but her attitude is so positive and happy that she's just a treat to watch. She makes such wonderful things!
Ответитьtbh ive found that any time i mix colors i have of something it usually ends up a shade of purple bc of how i gravitate towards blues and mauves
ОтветитьThe rolag skein is gorgeous. I did a color theory experiment with hand spun with my first batch of Merino. I made a rust single and a turquoise single. I played them together and yup I had a brown looking yarn.
ОтветитьI just learned so much about many things from one video alone! You are AMAZING and I hope you really enjoy making these as much as I enjoy learning from you. 😁
ОтветитьThe blendinģ board ìs new too me. I've ordered one, and am looking forward to, trying some of your techniques.,thanks.
Ответитьthis is very monster high colorway. i love it
ОтветитьThank you for this video. Really helps out for future projects.
ОтветитьI have wool in a similar colorway, but the one i have is more pastel. I like to call it my trans pride wool because it's in the colors of the trans flag plus purple
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this - I like how you show the samples of each technique. For the blending board and rolags, could you ply and still maintain the striping and pure colors? Would you have to chain ply?
ОтветитьI absolutely love this video. It is so helpful to know how to spin combed top in a variety of ways. The one I like best is the one with the blending board/rolag method, although I found all of them fascinating to watch. I see how muddy looking that first fiber is when it is all "muddled together." So there is a real advantage to separating your fiber by color and planning your striping, or at least doing it with more forethought. I've been spinning for years, but you really taught me some new stuff here with these techniques. Best of all, I love the comparison yarns you show at the end. In fact, I'm enjoying and learning from your videos so much, that I just signed up for Patreon!
ОтветитьThank you for sharing different methods, even when they aren't your preferred method. I don't have a blending board but would still like clearer colours than across the top, so I'll try pulling by colour. Thank you for the information and comparisons!
ОтветитьI have a couple different colorways of "roving" from Hobby Lobby and I've been experimenting with the first one and found that pulling the colors apart and making gradient rolags is a lot of work but it makes a nice rainbow gradient. If I do the same with the other vibrant one I have, it's even better. I didn't even realize until watching this video that what I have isn't roving but combed top lol
ОтветитьI love your videos! Excellent! I am so interested in the wheel you use.
ОтветитьI really appreciate the bits of spinning and color theory that you include in your videos. I learn so much!
ОтветитьSkinny legend
ОтветитьI love ALL your videos, I have learnt som much from you! But, can you please make a video of how to spin with foryarn, plötulopi or pencil roving? I have som foryarn from Estonia that I want to spin, I have tried and tried but it does't give me the result I want. Greetings from a 58 year old craftster learning how to spin again after many years.
ОтветитьIf you wanted to ply them, how would you do it? If you were going to ply from the one bobbin and chain ply it would you make each of the colours a lot (like 3x) longer?
ОтветитьYou are a genius at color. I love them all. You gave great examples. I need to try these techniques. Thank you so much.
ОтветитьEvie, can you do a video on spinning across the top? I understand the approach, but can't seem to "get it", what's your secret? Would love to be able to get these distinct colors on my combed tops....🤔
ОтветитьWait, there is a thing called fiber festivals? I need to find them in my area... Loved this video. You have inspired me to try my hand at spinning. Would love to see more videos on combining colors on a blinding board.
ОтветитьI love love love… your videos! All of them! This really helps understand how to use our fiber depending on the effect we want to create with the colours. Thank you again! Newbie from Canada.
ОтветитьVery helpful. As a new spinner, I’m fretting a lot about “no mud,” but you gave me more sense of freedom because ALL of these look good in their own ways. A shawl with all of these variants in progression would be gorgeous. I see that starting with clear colors yields a very pretty result regardless of method. I love the painting feel of the blending board—and I have one!
ОтветитьThank you Evie i appreciate you. im a novice spinner in the uk ❤
ОтветитьIt would be great for each one to be knitted into a swatch to see the end result. This step is so often left out on utube tutorials
ОтветитьVery interesting!
ОтветитьTakk!
ОтветитьLove the one done on the blending board but how do you ply without losing the stripes?
ОтветитьThis was very helpful. I was expecting just “how to do 1 thing”. But you showed several different ways and the resulting yarn. Thank you!
ОтветитьExcellent video.
ОтветитьLove these experimental videos ❤
Ответитьfascinating.
ОтветитьThanks! It helps so much to see you experiment and play with the fibre. It also makes me less nervous about just diving in and trying something out to see what happens. I would love to see more of the finished product - what do those rolags look like when they're plied? And then knit or weaved?
ОтветитьVery interesting to see you experiment!
ОтветитьI just love your videos!!! Please please keep them coming
Love from Australia
Love the video! Did you spin your singles with S or Z twist?
ОтветитьAs a very new spinner, this video is incredibly helpful to me! Thank you! 😊
ОтветитьDefinitely the blending board, for me.
ОтветитьI like the across the top and blending board yarns the best. I have a blending board but have never used it so now I’m inspired to pull it out and play with it.
ОтветитьThis has been so instructive and also entertaining! Thank you
