Nice stuff! Is there a place to order from????
Without the flux your losing the carbon.
That turned out really really nice. Thanks for another great video.
I've seen this done with a rods in a vise and twisted/folded
Couldn’t u have just used some regular steel rods instead of wasting some welding rods ?
I'm confused why you'd not just use Gas TIG filler rods....
World needs more man like you. God bless you. Keep up the good work!
The only thing different between 7018 and any other 60 0r 70 series steel rod is the coating. The core wire is all the same.
Ok I'll have to come back but the drill trick at beginning is cool I can already see it coming in handy, thanks
Great blade. What I really do not get is the appeal of Micarta. Give me a good, hard piece of wood to shape into a handle and I am a happy camper...
You know, when I was in metal shop I'm school I always looked at the boxes of 7018 rods and went "hmmm 🤔🔪
You’re so speaking man it is boring
Wow when u use metal u do it with amazing creativity and damn nice to look at and very functional you truely are a master of your craft
Beautiful work!!
Your anvil is stuffed
Water my son..... Soak sparkling clean in water.
That turned out really nice! Im a big fan of the san mai edge with damascus patterns! Very cool!
Looked like you picked up a bend in the blade or is it just the video
Soak your billet in kerosene instead of WD-40 before you start your heat soak. Then hit it with the flux.
Comments durig the video are very good!
I can honestly say: I have seen a lot of bladesmith videos, starting with Forged In Fire, and others, and I was a welder when I served in the Navy, but not once did I ever think that welding rods could be forged into a blade! that's one of the reasons I love watching these videos; the creativity and artistry that goes into bladesmithing!
Why not burn the flux off, or just use straight steel rods?
No White Out?!
Ответитьyou are the king of canister.
Thanks for sharing subscribed
Instead of all that time, work, effort, materials, etc to remove the flux and then clean the rods
just weld with the rods. Make them into a mound whereby creating the size/shape you want to fit into your crucible
What a waste of time and money.
Cool. Great skills
Clean the rods with a wire wheel, cleans them super fast
Ответитьstill love your work and the way you explain what you are doing and why you did it.
I've got a few pounds of some old black rods. From what I remember half was a high nickel rod for hard surfacing. Remembered it was hell to grind even with a hard stone, hardly and spark and just scratches on the bead. I beared down hatd on the hand grinder n it was bogging. Not a cheap 1 either. Think was marked atlas on some of them. Got some old bluish green coated rods, heavy flux on them to. Ill have to get out to garage n take a look. Got a few chrome molly rods and sure some for stainless. Been some years since I looked at these. They'd need to be ovened before used to weld wonder how they would work
I love you work. I'm a disabled marine and I love K-Bar knives. How much would you charge me to make me a Damascus K-Bar?
Can anybody answer....what would happen if you DIDN'T clean the flux and put them in a canister as is?
Great pattern! That's quite the choppa you got there, well done 👍🏽
Absolutely beautiful work I love Damascus knives and axes great to see such good forge work good 💯💯💯
Nice.
7018 isn’t mild steel. It’s for welding pressure vessels. The numbers mean a lot. Position rod can be used in, type of flux and tensile strength of finished weld.
Beautiful blade, how long did the whole process take?
Ok. I’m only like 5 minutes into this video….I’ve seen several forging/blacksmithing videos, and let me just say…I really appreciate the explanation of what you’re doing. The process is very interesting but most of these videos just show the forging and don’t actually explain anything. This is great.

Ответитьnice pattern
Why not just apply electricity? ..you get your billet and it's welded
Excellent forging skills!
Very cool ! I hope to have my own forge someday ! You have a new subscriber !
