ОтветитьVery informative, thanks.
ОтветитьI had to turn fast startup off because it kept looping to the login screen rather than shutting off for some reason.
I did have to change the EFI partition location due to a mix up with installing Windows, after which this started happening.
I am not noticing any slowdown on startup since turning it off :P
Damn, fast startup seems to be kinda useless honestly, I don't even know why is this enabled by default.
Ответитьif you are using amd software tunning tool to overclock/undervolt your GPU you should definitely turn fast startup off. I've been having issues with the driver restoring the default settings all the time due to a "unexpected system error", since I disabled fast startup everything's been running smoothly
Ответить"Fast Startup" is one of the first things I turn off as part of any Windows installation, not just because of all the disadvantages that you mentioned, but also because it always kills Wake-On-LAN, which I often use. (For some reason Windows "forgets" that it needs to put the NIC into WoL mode when going to sleep, or the PCs' firmware just doesn't respond to WoL requests when not fully powered down.)
With how little speed gain there is from "Fast Startup" when using SSDs, there is really no reason to leave it on, so, much like every other option where MIcrosoft puts "(recommended)" next to it in the GUI, I pick the opposite!
thanks man, almost got rid of my gpu quick thinking it was faulty, but becuase of fast startup my new driver wasnt recognised yet.
ОтветитьBro I'm using an old potato laptop. After enabling fast startup my boot time is 1 minute instead of normal 4 minutes.
ОтветитьI heard somewhere that since fast startup saves your drivers and os onto your ssd everytime your shut down your computer, its decreases the ssd's lifespan
ОтветитьFast start also makes it very difficult to access eufi if some toggled legacy boot without turning fast boot off.
ОтветитьSo doing a restart is better?
ОтветитьLiking the contents
Ответитьin my laptop fast startuo off 16 second
and fast startup on 3 second
very well explained thanks.
Ответитьabout the yes or no thing idc yes or no i only care about facts
ОтветитьIs disabling fast startup meant to make my shutdown slower cause it does
ОтветитьMy PC takes about 10 minutes to turn on with fast startup
ОтветитьWhat if I needed to do a full reboot but don't want to disable this option, what if I only wanted to do a full reboot once, how I do that?
ОтветитьMy pc turns on in like 30s in a cold boot on 6th gen i7
ОтветитьMy pc been rebooting randomly. So I hope this fixes it
ОтветитьWhen I disable fast startup, my computer just restarts every time I shut it down and for some reason it also gets logged out from my account and I have to use my Microsoft account password instead of the regular pin. Help me 😢
ОтветитьI think I'll disable it because 99% of the time I use sleep anyways.
ОтветитьDo Macs do this?
ОтветитьQuestion can you turn off "Fast Startup" and leave Hibernate mode enabled. Basically, wanting to confirm whether that application data (Excel spreadsheet) would be saved.
ОтветитьThank you for making these videos so dummies like me can understand what all of this means.
ОтветитьI sure miss the days of shutdown and restart, when they were both what they were called, round windows XP and 7
ОтветитьI believe if you hold down the "Shift" key while clicking shutdown it will not use "Fast Startup".
ОтветитьI already learnt of this fast startup crap before and already disabled it a couple days before posting this comment. While the fast startup feature might seem relatively safe for most users, the reality is that it keeps certain errors in some software going so you're liable to still suffer those errors again, but another thing to note is that I believe this also progressively shortens your computer's lifespan.
Ultimately it is the user's choice as to whether they want to disable this feature.
personly i blow up my pc so it shuts off
Ответитьi dont use my laptop everyday and i dont care about a few seconds start time so i have it off.
ОтветитьI turned off fast start up on my windows 10and not it want load the screen doesn’t even come on
ОтветитьWith fast startup on a 5400 RPM HDD, the difference is so huge that, it literally takes around 5 seconds to boot the PC! I'm happy with it anyway.
ОтветитьWhen Windows Update requires a restart, you can choose "Update and restart" or just "Restart" in the shutdown menu. This actually relies on fast startup as well.
Selecting Update and Restart temporarily turns off Fast Startup so Windows can make changes to the system kernel. If you select "Restart", it will keep Fast Boot enabled and "freeze" the Windows kernel.
If you disable fast startup, you will only see "update and restart", you cannot just restart and without updating
I disabled it because my pc is lighting fast to start up. No reason to keep it on. With fast startup it boots up in 7-9 sec and without fast startup it takes 13-15 sec. My boot drive is a 1TB Samsung 980 pro SSD.
ОтветитьI used to troubleshoot Windows computers back in the day of Windows 8 and early Windows 10. Fast startup was a real nuisance because it would prevent certain issues from actually being fixed using a reboot. You can bypass it by typing "shutdown -r -t 0" in command prompt but that just meant that users needed to call in again to get the same minor issues fixed. Saving a few seconds on startup doesn't mean much when you need to repeatedly reboot the computer to get it working! Thank Microsoft for making the OS fight with you when you're trying to get it to do what you need.
ОтветитьI disabled fast startup in windows and in my bios.
If your OS is installed in a SSD, you don't need any fast startup.
My boot time was not noticeably slower.
My SSD recently died. I replaced it. left Steam running to install a game over night after getting my laptop working again.
My computer went to sleep. When I opened my laptop this morning, I got the Boot Device not found message on a grey screen again.
Can fast boot kill an SSD?
Yes You Should!
Ответитьbasically If you wan't to come back soon, just hibernate or put it on sleep, but when you press to turn it off, you expet it to turn off...
Ответитьname of the background photo? thanks
ОтветитьIs there any way to uncompress my c: drive? I made the biggest mistake of my life trying to save space on my computer
Now windows can’t boot up and is stuck in a restart loop
