I mentioned how some of the unofficial tournaments go really well; which ongoing, unofficial tournaments are you guys' favourite? Now would be a good time to show some love to those who are doing it well!

well if you know anything about BHVR, they don't know their own game, so space e-sports seemed like a great idea.

The fact that somebody addressing a video audience of people who like asym games feels it appropriate to call it "a game called Evolve" like he isn't sure whether you've heard of it and remembering how Evolve supposedly was going to revolutionise PvP is kinda funny.

While this tournament was the worst thing I've ever seen, I don't think that has anything to do with the game itself being unviable for a competitive scene.

Plenty of games that have successful pro scenes add/adjust rules for tournaments. Dota, Overwatch, and a notable one being Pokémon. Plenty of others that I don't play/watch too, I'm sure.

The game till this day is an unbalanced mess, I hope it never get's an Esports scene. Leave Esports to genres like Fighters, Moba's and Shooters.

I love DBD as a game. But this is just a prime of example of why the game (and the asym genre as a whole) cannot and will not ever be eSport competitive.

Sure it's competitive by nature, as it's a PvP game, but that's it. Nothing more. Casually competitive party game. That's all it is. Personally I'm glad BHVR stopped this nonsense, incompetence aside, this game is just NOT cut out for a "comp scene."

this game was good for a very short bit when it launched on steam then became massive dog shit when it leaned towards competitive and all the twitch losers poured in, so many freaks and weirdos fill that game now. the constant dogshit balancing decisions and game breaking fuckups every patch combined with the complete incompetency of bhvr. you know a game is shit when its common for people to edit their graphics to make it look as shit as possible so they can have some nonexistent advantage because its le hecking competitive, would be a dream come true to see this game drop dead. also competitive games can fuck off and the whole scene around it, making so many games shit and unfun, and the people that play them are becoming the biggest losers. less content and fun for more consistent stale repetitive gameplay for people to waste time practicing for so they can get nothing in return

"blocking hook" That's based. If they mean survivors obstructing the hook animation being played, which is dumb and does nothing but to empower bully squad. No one should be obstructed from doing their primary goal via collisions boxes. If they mean trying to obstruct the killer carrying someone to the hook, that's dumb.

Easily could have been better if the;
1) the 4 Survivor Players HAD to be one of the 4 first original survivors, or (by 2018 I'm not sure how many survivors there were), each team member had to be a different survivor
2) The killer player had to pick 3 different killers for each round (a total of 3)
3) Better stream huds
4) Better microphones
5) Maybe the 3 rounds could have been on different maps?

Many such cases. No one wants to watch a game that boils down to 1% of the characters rushing the same strat every time and almost as few people want to watch their game with half the items turned off.

I dont understand the logic of "if it needs rules its not worthy to be an esport" like, smash bros needs an arbitrary set of rules (no items, fair stages, no spirits) and look how popular ultimate and melee are as esports. With the items thing, casual dbd has a balance around consumables (you cant have iri addons and a bnp good toolbox every game all the time) so i say its ok to put restrictions around those consumables to make the gameplay more balanced

No, of course DbD isn't fit for a fucking pro scene, it's not even fit for the way it's played now, anyway. Sweaty fucking tryhards using every advantage, exploit, and glitch they can muster to bully the Killer into submission so that they can escape for the 50th time in a row while they laugh with their douchebag friends in a Discord call about how much that Killer sucked. Playing with, apparently, jacked-up gamma to get rid of the darkness and hording items to power their way through any situation.

At its core, DbD was supposed to be a horror game, and, when you actually immerse yourself and let it be, it's pretty good. But, no, the kind of fuckheadery required to play as is expected at higher levels takes all of that away and makes it a tedium generator.

No shit its eSports scene failed. The day a crowd screams and claps for a Killer to get flashlight blinded for the twentieth time in a match is probably the same day that they hang the Killers that fail from the rafters of the auditorium they're in, because they're probably just using DbD to give death row inmates a form of very-one-sided trial by combat as a chance to avoid execution. And that makes sense, 'cause I imagine anyone who suffers through high-ranked DbD matches as Killers is probably one missed anti-depressant away from necking themselves.

It's not terribler for your event/product/service to break upon initial release. However, the lack of professionalism makes everything 100x worse.
