got them all right!
ОтветитьTbh the special is the best value but the Gibson is the best in festurrs
ОтветитьAs a Gibson sg owner I have to admit to my ear epiphone standard sounds the best at least in this video anyway, Gibson close second, the epiphone special is the worst sounding by far
ОтветитьGot the cheapo right. Other 2 were harder to tell.
ОтветитьI like the way you did this review, I suscribed🙏🏻
ОтветитьDo they all come with neck dive standard? 😂
ОтветитьThe one thing thats the same on all three is that you can't tune them.
ОтветитьWanna buy a guitar
ОтветитьSir I have a 25 year old Epiphone sg standard guitar.
Made in 1999(serial no. As proof). Any idea how much it's worth now?
I picked X whatever that was
ОтветитьGot it right.
ОтветитьFunny thing you reposted this as I’m thinking of getting my first SG. I was gonna go with the cheapest one the special
ОтветитьI was always under the impression that SG stood for standard guitar. Also, the SG was originally called a Les Paul because it replaced the Les Paul, then the fan base set the world on fire. That's is why he now have the LP AND the SG.
ОтветитьHow about that, I liked the sounds of the Gibson the least, and not just by a little bit. 😮
ОтветитьI didn't want to spend for s Gibson. Tried the Epiphones at my guitar store andv didn't love it. Ended up going with the Harley Benton sg clone. Love it. Here are the specs from the hb site.
features a meranti body and set neck, and a roasted jatoba fretboard with trapezoid inlays. The neck, has a comfortable C-shape profile, ensures comfort, while the 24 medium jumbo Blacksmith stainless steel frets offer smooth playability. Sporting Tesla TM VR-Nitro Alnico-5 humbucker pickups
I like the look of the SG, especially with a Vibrola, but I just can't sit well with the body shape. Also I don't like the 24,75" scale. I wish I loved them but I can't justify buying one.
ОтветитьEpiphone standard with Gibson electronics… boom lol
ОтветитьYour delivery is hilarious 😂 You sound like a seasoned comedian.
ОтветитьI have an Epiphone SG and it’s the worst guitar I’ve ever owned it never stays in tune just moving whilst playing it and you can hear the tuning fluctuate .
ОтветитьI got 4 epiphone sg 400s 1 of them I've had for 18 years never a problem never lost tune nothing still looks almost as good as the day I bought it
ОтветитьI have two Gibson SG‘s one standard 2011 498 treble pickup 490 rhythm pick up $ 1299.00 new at guitar Center . 13 years ago . 2014 , 1961 reproduction Gibson used on eBay $ 1400.00 ,12 years ago . I would never ever buy a Epiphone again. I have many guitars. I play the Gibson standard SG the most.😊
ОтветитьLiked the Epi std best
ОтветитьGood Review!
ОтветитьToo bad some of these great guitarists have left this world.
ОтветитьDo you really think you pay just for the name? Neck dive, ask, Clapton, George Harrison,Angus Young,Jerry Garcia, Johnny Winters, Frank Zappa, even Hendrix had a white SG! I could name at least 20 more, but that wouldnt cover it. But what do they know? Perhaps something you dont know.I dont understand, of course Epiphone is a good guitar,I have a Epiphone Riviera, looks like a Gibson 335, and I like it, bought in 1967, think made in USA.But what I dont understand when people expect a Chinese made guitar, to be in the same class, as one made in USA.Ok l can understand, one is much cheaper, and the guitar I learned on was a Stella, which cost 12.95, that is twelve dollars! Now days, almost every guitar is better than it was in the 60s
ОтветитьEXCUSE ME ,HARMONY BETTER THAN GIBSON ,THEN FORD IS BETTER THAN A CHEAP SILVER CLOUD ROLLS ROYCE.😊
ОтветитьYOU Got the right one, no doubt!!!
ОтветитьI have a Epi Sg came with Grover tuners set neck, it feels like a better version of the Epi SG ,it neck dives like crazy i wish I knew what model or series, bought it used years ago at a pawn shop
ОтветитьEpiphone SG rocks
ОтветитьI might be jumping ahead, but does the Gibby have coil split? Would be a shame to waste that PCB. Y sounds the best to my ears, I dont know which that is between the epi and gibby though. they look identical to me.
ОтветитьYep. Y for the win 🏅
ОтветитьEach off those 3 guitars are verry difrent.. Off course the Epiphone SG standard is/feel good/sounds good.. But the if you use the Gibson, you can feel the difrent in ons second, is also importment, and you cant not beat the Epiphone humbucker to a cheaper Epiphone SG on the standard.. Because most of the Epiphone between 600/800 euro useing the same humbuckers, on the Epiphone standard in this video.
But... For a biginner, I will say, take a cheaper guitar you like. Because the sound/touch/feeling will come later l, just learn, and have fun
But If you got the money l, take the Gibson, or if you dont, take the Epiphone Standard.. Both are great guitars, only Gibson will win in the sound.
I selfie hade the Epiphone Standard for years, than it broke, after falling. Years later, like 2 years ago, i bought the Gibson.. And yes, still ive got Epiphone, like the Es 335. Also amazing
If you want one that doesn't neck dive, it has to be a Gibson, you have to go to a guitar store and ask for a balanced one. I have one that doesn't neck dive, and they only ones I've played that don't are all Gibsons.
Ответитьthe Gibson sounded the worst surprisingly, sg standard much nicer
Ответитьpersonally I think dirty they sound better than clean So dont clean them
ОтветитьAn Epiphone SG (something similar to the Epiphone SG Standard here) was my first electric guitar, I bought it sometime around 1996...and it was absolute junk. Never stayed in tune, awful hardware, horrible wiring, generally a cheaply made guitar. It looked great and maybe with a bit of upgrading could have been improved a bit, I didn't think about such things back then. Perhaps Epiphone have upped their game since 96, but certainly at the time, Squier, Yamaha and others were making better guitars.
ОтветитьNeck dive drives me crazy. Strats, Teles and Semi hollows don't really have that.
Ответитьthe specal is really a nice budget
ОтветитьThere's really comparison between these guitars. Gibsons sound and play better. The problem is people buying guitars already thinking of the resale value. Its actually a better value to buy a good guitar that is going to be satisfying for years to come so it won't have to be replaced.
ОтветитьI bought the Gibson after going back4 times and checking it out. It went on sale, thus I bought it. The Gibson felt so good. They tried to give me a boxed brand new one but I fell in love with the demo. No price change, but that didn't matter. It was the feel. It spoke to me.
ОтветитьMichael Bolton for the win
ОтветитьThey all sound the same so it’s just up to whoever wants to buy whatever they want and spend more money than maybe what they need to.
Capitalism at its finest
Great video! You really remind me of Bill Murray. Love Bill Murray!
ОтветитьAlmost got it right
Ответить"Kinda want to sleep in it" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьIs it worth the extra 300 bucks to buy the Epiphone standard over the special?
ОтветитьGot a SG special secondhand in the natural wood -- good looking guitar. Terrible setup but I didn't care as it was to be an open E "slide" guitar. Recently improved the setup and put 18:1 tuners on it. Sounds good.
Every Gibson SG I've played is scary with the neck dive. My Special is well balanced.
Blind test I identified the Gibson: it has the cleanest sound (Epi pickups are hotter, methinks). I had the Standard and Special mixed up on sound. Don't think I want to give up the stability AND pay more for the extra wiring and better sounding pickups, though.
This comparison made me happy :)
