This video made me give up on making games lmao haha.
ОтветитьAs a CompEng Student... I don't know how I ended up here...
ОтветитьI'm currently trying to start my journey into game dev industry, but I'm at the very beginner point. Like literally decided about a week ago with no prior programming experience kind of beginner. I feel I'm getting okay at understanding the fundamentals (kind of, I hope? lmao) and how/why things are setup the way they are, but I'm struggling learning how to write code myself from scratch to make it do what I want instead of having to watch a tutorial every time I wanna figure something out.
Any suggestions to learn/study?
Should I keep following tutorials and just take notes as I go and eventually maybe I'll just remember the base of the code I need in the future?
Maybe I'm being too hard on myself and expecting to learn too fast? I don't have a reference point to how slow/fast this is to learn, so I can't gauge if what I'm currently doing is really the way to go or not.
Your gaming reviews are always on point! How about giving Corsairs Legacy's free story demo a shot? It's like Sea of Thieves, and we're sure your audience would love to see your take on it!
Ответитьbro wtf , Im 4th year UoS doing Aero. I've started messing around with unreal engine. see you at jesters
ОтветитьWow man this is insane, what an adventure! Congratulation on all your hard work and keep it up! I would definetly love to see more content. Greetings from Mexico!
Ответить<3
ОтветитьCongratulations! That was one wild ride for sure. I have a question: what PL would you suggest to learn in first place when aiming for game dev?
ОтветитьThat's inspiring 🫡
ОтветитьHey! I am a 21 yo software engineering student from Czech republic. I only study for a year and a few months but I have some knowledge in 3D design, C, C# and Python (did some Blender and Unity school projects). My dream is to be somehow involved in game development (do not know exactly what I will enjoy the most at the moment because I love thinking about mechanics and features, creating stuff in Blender, creating maps and world building in general and I love programming...) and have so much ideas for my game projects and 3D design projects in my head but I am not able to start and actualy commit and create something. I struggle with time. Do not know how am I to study, work so I can eat and have a roof above my head and interact with my friends (I am a really social person and need this interaction in order to feel good) + work on a project. This video of yours gives me the motivation to do something about that tho. Do not know how exactly at the moment but I am going to change some things and actualy create a game!
ОтветитьImpressive
ОтветитьWtf u put someone yelling with that volume on ur calming voice 😑
ОтветитьAbout to swap out of my cybersecurity major to get that undergrad games dev degree. This popped up at the perfect time, thank you.
ОтветитьYour motto was learn something new everyday, how did you remember so much information without forgetting after reading tons of books?
Ответитьas a big fan of sot, gotta say i appreciate your and your teams work on it, truly an amazing game.. also, this video was indeed inspiring even though i dont plan on becoming a game dev
Ответитьi m now studyin mechanical engenering which i hate it so much but i forced to do , my dreams was learn developement and start making my own game , is it possible to apply for the 3rd year in computer science with an mechanical engenering degree
Ответитьwell done mate
ОтветитьI mean, I want to demystify his little talk to even more push the idea of motivation he wants deliver.
At any reputable university, you have many group projects, so he did a lot of C++ projects where he gradually extended his knowledge. Some basic networking and some more advanced shader pipeline writing, which honestly isn't that big of a deal, but a lot of know-how
So everyone who gets a Bachelor's degree already has quite a portfolio to show.
He put a lot of extra effort into those topics, but after 8 hours of regular school, I can assure you it's not healthy to additionally sit and program. So he traded life quality to become a better expert; you decide if that's worth it.
Games are essentially just complicated real-time programs if you leave out the artsy stuff, so there's no significant leap needed between IT and Games Engineering, especially bc it seems that he only does "backend stuff".
Lastly, the title makes it sound like he went from high school to making Sea of Thieves on his own, not like transitioning from a reputable university to being employed at a Start-Up (thus was it really AAA? idk the details of funding etc.).
Because, as I understood it, he wasn't accepted by any larger company back then (why else would he accept the first okay offer that came in?).
Brackeys IS a hero!
ОтветитьGuy is an absolute genius I think we can all admit
Ответитьreally inspiring story you gave me one more reson to start programming. i would love to play your first Game with the two dimension Puzzel is it anywhere avalible
ОтветитьGood Job Bro
ОтветитьHonestly! I really was inspired by your story and really want to get into the Game Dev space and create my own game not even to sell just to see if I can do it! I have a bit of knowledge in C and C++ but not much else what would anyone seeing this comment recommend me to start my journey?
ОтветитьI want start ny journey) I just finished my solo game in UE5. Now i want to be a part of team
Ответитьthis video is really well put together. aside from that, wow man. huge inspiration.
Ответитьbro speed ran the programing life
ОтветитьAre those books actually worth reading?
ОтветитьI'm studying cyber security and I like it lol but I want to do this on the side to make MY game.
ОтветитьDepressed to work on a bank? Wait till you work on game you hate and dont resonate lol.
Ответитьit's been a year you released this video and it really helped me to think about becoming a video editor professionally than my current freelancing video editor tag.
Note I just watched your video today.
Thank you for creating it
What books would you recommend as good studying material with your field?
ОтветитьLove! How did you fund yourself before you got a job?
ОтветитьSo, your “ring of power” was based in, undertale, heavily
ОтветитьNOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE I AM A GODOT GAME DEV AS 11 Year Old
ОтветитьFor me, it was all about doing endless game jams xD
ОтветитьPvE single player mode with more npc's please thx :P
ОтветитьCan we just appriciate the fact that this dude literally played the LOTR theme at the end of the video and did not get demonitized?❤
ОтветитьGreat. I loved it. I actually got emotional when you were offered the job. So happy for you. May you continue to be blessed 😊
ОтветитьGo back 25 years, scratch the game dev course, then the degree; do game/sim dev for 3 years, then settle for a career in fintech, moving to a management position, saying farewell to C++ and hands on coding - and you have me! What I didn't / don't have is even 0.1 times the talent you do (that you craftily hide in this video - how does one go through Cherno's game engine series, and 5 game dev books in a few months? Respect!). Subscribed and hoping to learn more of what programming and related skills you acquired in what sequence to perhaps replicate, then learn / implement/publish my own games. Question (have yet to go through your videos, so maybe it's already answered): do you go graphics programming / general programming / both or more?
ОтветитьIf someone says sea of thieves nuts fit in your mouth I’m gonna cry
ОтветитьWell i am 54 years old and i am trying by myself.
ОтветитьYour journey from a Cs student to a Game Dev is really interesting , thanks for the motivation!
ОтветитьThis shows the importance of "traditional" education! <3
Ответитьsounds quite easy
ОтветитьIt's now HIS majesties kingdom.
ОтветитьYoure inspirational 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 im pushing myself hard to learn C++ , unreal and blender
