I bought this drive 5 months ago on Amazon for under $30. Worked great until a recent power outage. Booted up the PC and the drive wouldn't show up. Tried everything but it was dead.

This thing is really good guys. I took a 480gb (0.5gb ram cache) version from aliexpress when it first came out in early 2015. Almost 4 years and 46TB's later its still working the same as it was 4 years ago. Also risked this as my boot drive for a few years but things were smooth and no issues. I have upgraded to a 970pro but i still use this to run off some apps and store some data.
Never expected this much life from a drive off ali lol. I am pretty sure they gonna do well.

I would recommend kingdian. Have it now for over a year and my old ssd died a month ago and before it gave life it warned me and i backed up. And received a brand new ssd without a hazzle from kingdian. Better customer support then the major brands have ;)

Says longevity blah blah blah then how long are they gonna last blah blah blah. Too much repetition just to make the video longer and not going straight to the point so to earn view minutes. What a shame you had potential you're just too greedy for a newbie. PS it made my eyes hurt looking at the left side of the screen when you're supposed to be presenting yourself at the center

Here is an update. I have used this drive as a boot drive since August of 2018. I just took it out and tentatively planned to give it to my grandmother because I got a Samsung 970 Evo plus which is a much faster drive and more capacity than the cheapo here that I bought. Of course, before even thinking of giving it away, I gave it a complete work-up after about a year and a half of use. There are absolutely no SMART errors to be found. Every sensor in the drive was found to be functional and reported back with no problems or signs of any problems. The speed is what you would expect for SATA. Now after all of this, I can give this drive a thumbs up if you need a good economical drive that will suit most people for general purposes.

Long time haven't seen DRAM/NAND modules from Spectek (sold lot of their PC133 SDRAM). I thought they disappeared. Not bad memory at the time, better than the Micron Tech Engineering Sample sold as nonames or samsung noname.

Those are SpecTek Nand's which are produced by Micron. the part number is FBNB17A512G1KDBAFJ4 micron isn't "proud" of spectek and they don't advertise it much, its their value brand, normally reserved for usb flash drives and stuff, not going to be spec'd out for as many read write cycles etc not tested quite as aggressively and so on, its not that its going to be made poorly, but its not going to be as good, fast, or robust as Micron's other offerings.

BUYER BEWARE!!! If you get a good one, it's a great deal. But, if you get a bad one like I did (1 TB capacity) you lose it all. I bought mine from the manufacturer through AliExpress and it did not work. When I requested a refund and provided screenshots showing the errors, both the seller and AliExpress said the screenshots were not enough evidence and that I should provide a video showing the process I went through. That is a ridiculous request, plus it demonstrates a mindset that says "we can do no wrong." Very bad business practices.

Updated comment: After trying to get this thing to work for months, I contacted the seller again and requested repair/replacement according to their three year warranty. They agreed, but I would have to pay the return shipping cost which was close to $10USD with tracking. After they received the returned SSD, they said they were sending me a new one and gave me the tracking number. I was delighted. Since then, however, the tracking number does not show up on any of the dozen or so tracking services that I use. I have contacted the seller three times now about the problem, but they have not replied. Now, I am without the original purchase price (~$90USD), the original SSD, and the return shipping cost. Like I said at the outset: BUYER BEWARE!!!

That big S is for Spectek, a sub brand of Micron that sells nand that have failed QC testing for Micron. Spectek nand is generally used in less write intensive applications like USB drives and Micro SD cards. The Chinese are famous for buying Spectek and using them in SSD. Consider yourself lucky if you get Spectek as it meets some sort of standards. Many of these crap drives use recycled nand with questionable longevity. Some have featured quality nand from Toshiba and SanDisk and Micron. As the video says, they literally buy whatever is cheapest and available that week. Kingdian is actually one of the larger companies so their supplies seem to be much more consistent. I'm only considering them because I need a 2242 ssd for a Chromebook upgrade.

Until recently I was in love with this brand, I have about 10 SSD Kingdian, but the last two has been a complete disaster, one I bought on Amazon fori 18€, the New-S280 (I have several "old"S280 with a lot of hours) and I returned it for very slow read/write, tested exactly on the same conditions as the others, same cloned data, and went to half or less speed. Then I bought one on AliExpress, the "old" S280 for € 17, they sent me an S340 that I had not bought, and very slow speed, not half but between half and th same of the ones I already have, but in this case Ali only refunded me 8€ even though AliExpress admitted that it was not what I had bought, and it was in theory, in the official Kingdian store or factory. From now on I will never buy Kingdian again, and less on Aliexpress, I will buy other brands since the difference is fewer nowadays. For the price-speed-quality ratio they were very well compared with the good brand before, a couple of years ago,, but now for a few more than € 20 you can have, for example, a Crucial in Amazon, 2 yeasr full warranted (sold and / or managed by Amazon). I will stop using this brand, I repeat, I have about 10, some with more than 10000 hours, and zero failures or problems.
