I ride between Kentucky and Ohio all year round and it's about 20° cooler on a bike. 90% of the reason I want leather is wind protection. Just something to keep in mind for the next video... Most of us dont live in north mexico and we're freezing our asses off. We're buying jackets cuz we're cold af. Try not to sell wind protection and warmth as a negative quality lol

These jackets are ‘crash tested ‘. How do you become a motorcycle jacket crash tester ? I would have thought it a job with very limited appeal

You should not just carry and ride, you should always carry when possible.

A bit of advice from a long time rider. You can usually find leather jackets at pawn shops for good prices. Be knowledgeable between the differences of fashion weight leather and motorcycle weight. You can find some pretty good deals if you put in a little effort. Good option for beginners on a budget.

It's admirable that you saw the value in financing your first leather jacket.
You had more-or-less naked bikes in your riding video, but a jacket that's cut and tailored for a sport biker may very well be different than one cut and tailored for a cruiser rider, Just sayin'.
And small point, but I wish you had blacked out the Alpinestars logo on that hangar you used for multiple jacket displays.

I just got back on a bike after 25 years . Luckily for me , my buddy got fat and had to upsize his leather. so he turned me on to his old one, fits me great ! Thanks cheeseburgers !!!

What about womens gear? Im 5'1 130lbs and im really straggling to find gear. Just finding womens gear is hard and the sizing just doesnt usually work for me because i have very broad shoulders (i shovel horsepoop all day lol) and my shoulders just dont work with most ive tried on. Im also pretty picky about colors i want colorful fun gear not plain black or pink. I thought about white but when i looked into them i would look like a storm trooper and part of me thinks its cool and the other part of me wants neon colors. Just any inputs for places to look would be so helpful

Mesh is no cooler than Leather. Vents in any jacket will do nothing at all in 100 degree temps, think about it

Zips are everything...jackets no good once the zip fails..heavy steel zip for me, not plastic

I got lucky when I started riding, there was a shop nearby for gear, and the people there helped me get what I NEEDED and not anything excessive and fancy.

If you're new just please buy a jacket for a motorcycle. The brand doesn't matter just please use one design for riding

Great info on a topic that I haven't found discussed much. The first jacket I rode in was a fashion motorcycle style jacket that looked "biker" but wasn't. Fortunately, it also ballooned every time I got on the freeway, so that was my reason for getting a proper motorcycle jacket that had the right fit and the real protection of it became immediately obvious. I'm now a returning rider and pulled out my old gear as I was watching your video and am feeling pretty good about the fact that I won't have to upgrade or buy new stuff. One comment you made a couple of times regarding the leather jacket probably lasting a lifetime "... if you take proper care of it." What tips would you offer regarding proper care? Would conditioning the leather with something like mink oil be a good thing or discouraged? Someone has one suggested using it, as they used it to condition their (non-motorcycle) leatherwear.

Why do moto riders EVER wear black gear? It is the most obvious color for bikers to avoid, yet.... Helmets also. Gluttons for punishment.

THE 1-PIECE IS REAL

I have two jackets.

The first is a Tourmaster 3. It's a great jacket for all seasons. The base part is Kevlar lined with pads and mesh for lots of airflow on hot days. However it also has a rainproof shell that zips to it and an inner liner for warmth. It's the one I usually take motocamping because it's so versatile.

The second is a leather motorcycle jacket. It has pockets for a back pad and elbow pads (which I still need to get though I could take them from my first jacket). This is kind of my everyday commuter jacket. Great in spring and fall. Okay in cold. Decent rain protection for commuting. Not so great when it's hot. Looks stylish.

What kind of lining and pads are used in a biker jacket?
