As a competitive first person shooter player, one thing I learnt to aim for in optimizing is to go for best frame stability, settings that give highest 0.1s as possible and most consistent frame time

main point of disagreement on this video are, ultimate performance power plans are not necessary, you only get slightly better responsiveness on the desktop and even that isn't a huge difference. You're just degreading your hardware and wasting power by running ultimate performance, overclocking is an amazing thing to do, you're losing out by not overclocking or undervolting. If you don't want todecrease the life span of your card, just don't shove additional power through the card - you can still get huge gains in performance on stock or lower power limit.

Thank you for this video, I will try but it is with despair that the solution to my problem will not be solved.
I will try to explain my problem: the games work perfectly but after about 20 minutes of play a kind of micro stuttering, input lag, latency appear, and that all the time!
My temperatures do not exceed 60 degrees and the number of FPS is always the same and yet I have this latency that appears.
I tried everything that exists on the internet and especially the optimizations of Chris Titus but nothing worked.
The only improvement but which does not last long (about an hour of play) is that I reinstalled Windows 10 1909 without updating.
I think the problem happened overnight following a Windows 10 update and for 3 years the problem is still there.
I completely changed configuration:
I9 9900KF
Z390 Rog
32 GB GSkill 3600
RTX 3090 MSI REMOVE
Corsair MP510
Predator 4K 120Hz
It is as if a program came to work during the eju and for there is nothing!
It is impossible that I am the only player having this problem even if it is difficult to feel on certain games, it becomes hell while playing FPS.
If anyone knows how to fix this problem, it will change my life.

All the GUI tweaks and optimizations hidden everywhere without clear descriptions about MS packages makes gaming optimization on Windows a lot harder to understand than Gaming on a mainstream distribution. If it was not for Linux I would still run my system with to much of an OC that causes framedrops. Still gaming on Windows with the software installed that I know from Linux to keep the user experience somewhat the same across all platforms.

Using Atlas os 202H based on windows 10 pro! Still no problems from 100+ processes to 42. No edge, internet explorer, telemetry, defender and smart screen. custom optimised power plan with so many advanced functions!

You can pass most of this video if you are using Revi OS (Revision OS project) instead of base windows.

I have a gaming laptop, it usually gives me about 30-40 fps in game but after sometime it heats up insanely and then the game shows fps drops in like every 15 secs....PLEASE HELP.

Indexing your drives only applies for explorer. This has no effect on gaming. Turning it off on every drive would be far more beneficial, and you can use a much nicer lighter weight software like Everything.

Hmm... in fairness you're going to be hard pressed to cause any issues with with afterburner as the core voltage was locked down years ago without a modded bios and many aio coolers are as good if not better than custom loops.

I don't personally recommend turning off a setting such as AO, it's very transformative since it gives depth to objects especially when they intersect or are occluded of course.

i cant open xbox game bar after this i disable all settings but still cant use game bar anyone can help ?

i run a 12900k rtx 3080 12gb with anti cheat on i will be at 60fps then out of no ware drop to 0 or 1 fps but with anti cheat off no matter where i go i stay at 60 the anti cheat is making my frames drop still in 2023.
i toggle between anti cheat on and off for when and if i need to do some online things like some npc want u to raid ... times to unlock something i would toggle it on for that then toggle it off.
also if u have NVidia i do not know about amd you can right click on your back ground go to nvidia control panel under manage 3D settings you can limit your frames for every game i have mine maxed to 65fps because i have noticed even if i can get more than 60fps if i am limited to 60 it will drop to 59 or 58 and it bugs me.
Also games like ark witch have no fps cap unless you type it in every time you load the game your fps will be capped and not running crazy like minecraft you do not need 500plus fps in minecraft i do not care what monitor you have.

i have problems with precision, each time i try to downclock or overclock the clock get stuck at the lowest clock example 1100mhz down to 500mhz and i dont know how to fix that shet.

Is there anything out there that completely STRIPS windows to the CLEANEST state it can be? Barebone all the *ullshit gone. Just the clock left so to speak;D Haha.

chris thank you for a very useful video. got a nitro 5 laptop for xmas to replace my old 7 yr old generic one even tho not for gaming per say. but now know no point 100+ fps in game if the monitor is 60hrz like my tv and i cant even tell the difference.

Question for people that have the elden ring fps uncap mod: Does it make your game look super choppy? i installed it and im getting constant 100+ fps but it feels super choppy and stuttery, even adjusting the prior settings accordingly.

Sorry Chris got to argue with you about the 4k issue. Yes, it can run like hot garbage mess if you don't have the required PC components to run 4k but to say that you don't need 4k. Sorry, cannot agree. I love my games in 4k and i bought hardware to play it in 4k. If others cannot afford, its not my problem xD

i am suprised you suggesting lower the resolution if someone has 1440p monitor and lower the resolution to full hd the pic is not good due to pixels. thats not really good advice. unless the person is blind. u get away with it on good 24inch mon but on 27 and higher u can se the pic us not good

have you thought to have a checkbox to disable synthetic timers and set a custom timer resolution? I hear this can help you get more consistent FPS in games.
you would want to have this only for desktops though.
alternatively you could do all the nessisary commands and have an option to install Intelligent Standby List Cleaner to setup the consistent timer.

I use the AMD software. Adrenalin. In there I can see FPS and set min/max etc. Don't need Afterburner.
