Which Thunderbolt USB Multi-Port Adapters do you use and where did you buy them?
ОтветитьExcellent video
Ответитьyou are easily the best educator in this field i have ever come across
ОтветитьIs there a way, to assign a MIDI Controller set of Knobs ( X touch Mini) to be on the Master Channel Only? Was thinking of adding that Transit Plugin just to the Master Channel. Is this possible?
ОтветитьNo dude that WAS a masterpiece at the end. Thank you so much for this video you’re the man
ОтветитьI got told at music college MIDI stood for Musically Intergrated Digital Instrument but I guess this means the same thing?
ОтветитьThank you Sooooo Much for creating this tutorial!
ОтветитьHi, just starting out, love this video. Do you have a video on the output for the sound? I have a headset but not any kind of a speaker and I’m not sure how to hook that up and can you use both at the same time?
Ответитьmy MIDI is really quiet when I play it. I've been going into the compression control and raising the gain so it's a decent volume. I see you didn't do that. I'm guessing I have something set incorrectly. Can you help? Thanks!
ОтветитьThnx!
ОтветитьI absolutely love your channel! I wondered if you could do a video on External Software Instrument? I have a KORG minilogue XD and I can't figure out how to have the synth lay down midi data, but Analog Audio? Also, I cant figure out which channels to use for my midi controller (Novation impulse) vs my synth (minilogue). The impulse synchs to the MIDI clock, but the Korg does not. I'm betting others may be interested in setting up external instruments too. Thanks man for all the great content!!
ОтветитьI am new to Logic Pro and this was very helpful. I noticed that when you started playing one of the midis the key changed in the projects signature. Is that feature only specific to certain midis? I am just using an old Casio keyboard for my midi interface. I actually had to drag it up out of the basement and dust it off to start playing around with midi in Logic Pro.
Ответитьthank you so much, I feel growing well in logic for your video.
ОтветитьI wish this series came out years ago, thank you!
ОтветитьNice Michigan hat.
ОтветитьHi! Greetings from Chile! Thanks for the class
ОтветитьThank you so much for the excellent (as usual) tutorial. BTW, I signed up for BoomBox but got only 4G of free storage? Have I missed something?
ОтветитьIs there a reason in Logic Pro that on a midi keyboard knobs like record, stop and start would be working but the actual keys to play music don’t? Everything works on other DAWs
ОтветитьWow, wow, wow! Thank you for just showing me to check that (cycle on) box to merge so I can layer on the same track in midi! So stoked, I had to go and tell my wife! 😅
ОтветитьGreat video, I am just moving from djing to producing and your videos are fantastic, I am going to pay for a little Midi controller or Keyboard, what would you recommend? thank you
Ответитьim struggling with tempos, i don't see anybody talking about when you import diferent Midi files and they're at a difrent tempo, how can you make it or edit so they're on the same tempo, or do you have to re writte completly the new part?
ОтветитьGetting loads from your vidoes in my new journey into production, I am looking at a midi keyboard at the moment. I use Logic, what midi keyboard would you recommend? cheers
ОтветитьMany thanks. Great tutorial.
Ответитьif im trying to perform or play in a loop on my midi controller on logic how can I set it so that every not i play is the same velocity
ОтветитьThank you SO much! You are an excellent tutor. 😊🙏🏻 Just subscribed as I am trying to learn Logic& Midi alone and so far I learned more from this one video than I have with numerous videos.
ОтветитьI really enjoy your teachings and knowledge of Logic and over all music knowledge. I wanted to ask why during playback the recording is skipping on each of the 3 tracks. Can you help? I’m using a MacBook Pro running 10.7.5 with MacOS Monterey
ОтветитьGreat and accurate intro to midi. Ideal for beginners and even experienced musicians that never really understood midi. 👍
ОтветитьHow do I prevent the sounds from changing when I import midi files into a new session? They all go back to "Steinway Piano" 🤢
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьMore than 1 thumbs up! Again I learned a lot, e. g. the tip that you can merge new recorded notes into the same track, and many more. Looking forward to #9 which is already available. Thanks a lot for this series. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
ОтветитьThis channel is way past brilliant.
ОтветитьThis channel is way past brilliant.
ОтветитьI got a lot out of this... especially your three shortcuts; double-click for the new track, cmd-R to repeat and cmd-U to cycle. Thanks!.
ОтветитьOddly enough, the keyboard shortcuts are the real stars here. With just a good knowledge of the menu & commands available you can eliminate a lot of wasted time by using mouse and keyboard shortcuts...,the shortcuts are listed in the menus and so every time you do something the long way..LEARN the keyboard shortcut! This is just a great vid - Congrats
ОтветитьOMG! I am so glad that you have started this course, the midi explanation is absolutely amazing! I thought I was using midi ok? But after going through this episode I have picked up so much. What a gem 💎 so well presented and explained, I really couldn’t wish for a better tutor and already feeling much more confident and inspired. Thank you so much
ОтветитьCan you do a modern rock record, mix & master tutorial all Logic Pro x plugins. I know you’ve had an older one which is great but I’d like to see an updated version & what you’d do different.
Ответитьthose chords reminded me of Ethnicolor 🙂😀
ОтветитьGreat Stuff
Ответитьthis man is a national treasure and a legend.
ОтветитьJosh, your videos are just way beyond. The information and the way you present it; it’s just the best. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ОтветитьI like where u r going w this series, I switched to logic a few years ago after 10+ years on pro tools and your vids were and still are a big help!
I have also always said that I wish there was more or better videos on midi cc and midi channels and setting up midi controllers like my mpk249. I finally figured it mostly out but still lots of things to learn!
Oh heck yeah I ONLY work in midi because I don't have the rooms for mic set up I don't even have 3 mics to record simultaneously. Are Midi CC's ONLY for the keyboard controls? Like what's the big difference from Midi CC's and just automating? Like what all is automated in the actual midi region editor? For me the Midi CC's confuse me. Is it ONLY for keyboard controls? I use it to add pitch riser to the snare on a build up. Other than that I don't know what all you do with region automation. I hope I'm explaining right. When you automate in the window that pops up when you double click on a midi region. Is it just to have the ability to control it from a mod wheel? I honestly don't understand the complexity of what all you can do in there. Most of us are using samples and no one does Midi specific in logic. Most of us are doing things in midi and we need midi specific courses. Hardly any of us have actual studios with big rooms. IDK this is why I wanted to do this in Ableton but the interface on it is cheesy and Logic was so much easier to learn. Ah man I think I may mean software instrument.
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьWhen will some one come up with a plugin like toontracks ezeplayer you could load up your fav plugin and preview i have sooo many midi files but no way of previewing them unless i drag and drop into logic (gun in mouth) its sooo painful to do this
ОтветитьThis channel is way past brilliant. I can't even think of the right words to express my appreciation and excitement to learn from this producer. Josh is incredibly generous to share his time and wisdom of these instruments and LPx and to put in so much work to make and publish these tutorials. There has to be a tip jar around here somewhere!
ОтветитьGood stuff. 👍
ОтветитьThanks again! and.......Happy Thanksgiving!
Ответить🎯The MIDi Man Himself…
David Joseph Smith was an American engineer and founder of the synthesizer company Sequential.
Smith created the first polyphonic synthesizer with fully programmable memory, the Prophet-5, which had a major impact on the music industry.
He also led the development of MIDI, a standard interface protocol for synchronizing electronic instruments and audio equipment. In 2005, Smith was inducted into the Mix Foundation TECology Hall of Fame for the MIDI specification.
Sadly, Dave passed away in May, 2022
