For Karolina, I think that what really puts her in the "prodigy" category is that she plays all of her covers by ear, she doesn't use music. Even most adult violinists would definitely not be able to play pop music BY EAR that well. It's clear that Karolina is at least on another level compared to other violinists her age, even if she's not quite a "prodigy" based on her skill level on the violin itself.

The students at the university where Ray studied are undoubtedly top-notch geniuses. This is also evident from the fact that only a select few among those geniuses are allowed to enroll. Through further advanced education, the level of the students will improve even further.

You say that Teo is not a prodigy because he is thinking? He has a high level European and old fashioned style, beautiful sound. Also performing with an orchestra is much more difficult than performing on the streets.
Edit: so seems like Ray knew Karolina personally so I guess that's why Ray was a little soft on her.

one meaning of prodigy has to do with quantity, that is, being prodigious. These prodigies are geniuses and possibly also prodigious ... over time, at least.

For me there is no prodigies that play the sound like you. Since they just a child they dont have enough feeling like many adults have. I know they are pretty talented but they just play violin with technique not the heart.

Hi Ray— I wish you had also considered Christian Li played the Menuhin junior competition and tied with Chloe Chua. She was 11 and he was 10. I found his playing to be fantastic and compelling. He also did a superb job with leading the orchestra while playing the Vivaldi.

Why asian people are always SO F** GOOD with music, sports and so ?? Is it about mentality ? Discipline, hard hard hard work starting very very very young ? Is it just because they are better ? I have this feeling that prodigies are very often asian people... And I'm really wondering why is it so.

Can't believe how you went from the 10 year old violinist self to now. Makes me wish I'd practised more as a kid and not given up. Please show your video's to kids learning violin to provr it is possible with sustained practise and good teaching to become an accomplished musician, and even a super musician like yourself.
