OPPO X8 Ultra - What You Need To Know (Giveaway)

My personal opinion regarding phone of the year 2024 must be Vivo X100Ultra.... fantastic phone with a brilliant camera.... although I love Xiaomi phones.❤

I would like to find the best overall phone that excels in performance, camera quality, and other key features.

Additionally, I am interested in a video that highlights the best overall camera phone for both photos and videos.

Out of curiosity, if you had to choose the best phone between these two options, would you pick the Oppo X8 Ultra or the upcoming Samsung S25 Ultra?

I think they use the SD because of the price + performance. The SD 8 elite is supposedly 10% to 20% more expensive this year.

The only thing I miss on todays smartphone camera specs is a dedicated 10x zoom. I had it on my Huawei P40 Pro Plus and I could trust it everytime to give me dslr quality close ups of animals and anything else I needed a decent pic of (even a recognizable image of the ISS) I've replaced it with a Vivo x100 ultra (one of Average Dad's ex review phones😊) and am more than happy with the results, especially landscape sunsets and close ups, omg! and all the other obvious advantages that I get from it that I didn't get with the Huawei but just miss that 10x periscope a little bit. This is definitely a golden era for smartphone camera tech👍

I hope the Oppo x8 ultra lets you change the focus point post photo. but still possibly going to wait for the Vivo x200 Ultra…. I’m only hoping they do a global release.

On another note, I've had Chinese only phones, but they don't show Instagram, messenger, WhatsApp etc notifications on AOD. Yes, I've gone through all the settings. But AOD only let's you have missed texts and calls only.
So annoying. Hence why I'm selling my Vivo X90 Pro Plus. It's useless for notifications.

What do you make of Oppo UK tweeting (then deleting) no current plans for x8 ultra to come to UK (therefore global?) markets.
Im going to wait till next year and really hope ultra goes global. There's no reason not to now that nokia disputes are settled. It would literally only be if they cant be arsed to make a global ROM for the ultra and put them on shipping containers?! X3 and x6 most useful focal lengths IMO.

No, the Oppo won't be released in January. Earliest date rumored is around March. Oppo will release the find n5 in January with the x8 ultra and x8 mini coming later

Maybe not enough for a category but my Vivo (chinese rom) opened my eyes to better privacy and security features, I'm sure google is less invasive and that I have more control over permissions etc There is also a scam paste feature that allows you to have incomming info checked however not sure if this is fully functional with UK/EU app info. So working out how to get the most out of a better Chinese rom phone via translate and not just ignoring it.

About the release date... to me it would make much sense if they release the global version on the MWC in Barcelona (3-6 March), it´s probably the worlds biggest stage for a global release and Xiaomi probably does the same with the 15 Ultra.

Mrwhosetheboss has finally made the right decision by crowning the Honor Magic V3 best foldable of 2024. Why he'd only just received the device 2 weeks prior is beyond my comprehension. It's a global rom FFS. Got mine when it first came out for about £1300. Sold the free headphones for £300 on eBay making the cost of the phone about £1000. Amazing 😮

Someone in my area is selling a X7 Ultra for $600, my iPhone X is getting real slow, so it’s tempting. On the other hand there’s the Vivo X100 Ultra, which has a color science more to my liking, but Vivo’s window of software-support is way too small, I want a minimum of 5 years, I’ve had the iPhone X for 7 years, and I’m planing to keep my next phone for as long, if not longer. So I’m back to Oppo, hoping for the X8 Ultra showing up promptly, it’s worth it to wait for this instead of springing for the X7 for half the price, right?
