GoPro HERO 8: My Brutally Honest Review!

No holds barred in this one!! :D Do you think it's still worth buying despite the negatives? That "non-replaceable" lens protector kinda scares me... 😟

I have the 8 black and have no complaints. Upgraded from a Hero 3 White

I have the camera and love it

Now it's 199USD or 249 Eur in Europe.

Hi Ben. Thank you for making your videos I finally after years of wanting one got my first GoPro! My hero 8 does good POV shots but if I set it up on the ground to film my cycling it’s seems sooo zoomed out and low quality. Is there a fix for this??

I have two hero 7 blacks, love them. I bought two hero 8's and so far I'm not impressed. The lens for hero 8 can be replaced. Ya need a heat gun and a pry tool. Not wanting to do that I bought two Ulanzi G8-5 Vlog Metal Cages for GoPro Hero 8. The cage has a 52mm threaded filter adapter. I put UV filters on each cage adapter, this will protect the camera's lens. It also comes with a shoe mount that can be attached on top. On the bottom, it provides space for a mic adapter. Finally one the the hero 8's keeps crashing and freezing. That behavior stopped when I put a hero 7 battery into that hero 8. Go figure.

Can the 8 black always be in Video mode when you turn it on? I want it to automatically be in Video mode at start up.....possible?

Great video . Looking into getting a go pro but i think the 7 might be the onefor me because the lense. I mean 300 fps paintballs flying around my 400$ “paperweight” might not be a good idea haha

It's interesting how all go pro reviews videos end with making you to wait for the next model, to fix the issues but still incomplete till now.

Meanwhile hero 10 was released . Still waiting!

Can u use any other SD card other than a gopro SD?

The 2019 DJI Osmo Action would kill any GoPro's from Hero 7-8 and 9 and it can also go along with the Hero 10 even if it's already 2-3 years older than the latest GoPro.

Amazing! Nobody mention that the battery totally die in cold weather. Goes from 100% to zero in seconds, and needs to be recharged.
The Enduro-battery for 9 and 10 does not fit in 8.

Osmo action vs GoPro 8 , which will be best . Are you suggesting me to go back to GoPro 7 ? ( looking for budget action camera , max usage is moto vlog and travel around countries.

I wish that instead of the flip down mounts , they just stuck with the threaded hole like every other camera has had forever. Seems so much easier

Hey, I just got the hero 8 for Christmas but the image quality is complete garbage and very pixelated and splotchy. Anybody know why this is an issue? I've messed around with the settings and everything.

By the way my GoPro 5 takes stunning pictures stunning pictures ...as opposed to my GoPro 7 incomparable..go figure

Well it seems like I'm stopping at GoPro 7 because I have my USB micro C wire plugged into the port..plugged into my car usb and I film for hours...
now with the charging port being with the battery port door...so much for that..and those wiggly clamp holders..ouch...
I just don't get why GoPro does such big changes ...my GoPro 5 has five different with perspective settings GoPro 7 has only three ..you figure out the cameras progress with more features ...the good ones would stay on and they add on more if so needed ...not removing them ...makes absolutely no sense....
And non interchangeable lenses??? Forget it ..keep your 8 9 and 10 if that's how they will all be.

Man, I've had a hero 2 for all these years and I'm finally looking to upgrade. Currently the hero 6 black is on clearance or about $220, and I wanted a reason to go with a newer model.

These redesigns are really a shame. I just can't get behind a poorly designed battery door and no replaceable lens anymore. In addition, 4k isn't that important to me and I don't need great stabilization. Looks like I'll be going the cheap-o route, hopefully gopro learns their lesson and doesn't just update for the sake of updating down the road.
