How to Update PS5 Controller Firmware on PC (Windows 10 or 11)

First I uninstalled my antivirus software to download the software. Now I plug my controller into my PC, and the software doesn't read my controller (I've tried multiple cords and ports and I know it is charging). Anyone have any suggestions?

I hope you see this! On my previous PC I did this and my controller was fine, the main issue I wanted to fix was how R2 has like 'stiffness' when pressing it down, and when I updated it on my last PC it fixed it. But I just got a new PC and the same issue is persisting, but when I open the launcher my controller is up to date but the stiffness is still there. I dont know why since it was fine before, but do you know how to fix this? please help!

my ps4 and ps5 controller both worked with windows 11, but even with the firmware updated the headphone jack does not.

I was using a usb 3.0 splitter on my PC and the update kept failing. Connected it directly to the front of the PC via USB 2.0 to usb C cable. Worked first try.

If you are having trouble not getting your controller show up on your screen when ask to connect your controller to the USB, try using a different USB cable or the one that comes with the PS5. That work for me.

I plugged in a ps4 controller which made the trigger effect unlocked then I turned it off then switch back to a ps5 controller and it was locked again but off so if u want to change the trigger effect just use a ps4 controller to do so

Was having issues with this on a Windows 10 laptop, and it only worked when I used USB-C to USB-C. I know other comments have said otherwise, but the program seems to be rather inconsistent. Also, It only started working when my Laptop registered my controller as an Audio Device (which completely muted my Laptop lol). It was strange, but it worked.

I have already commented on this video stating how i wouldnt update , but i did finally update and this is my warning so any of you dont waste time.
Heads up to anyone thats gonna be updating the PS5 controller via PC do not do it with USB-C to USB-C it will always fail , you will need to use regular USB to USB-C.
Idk how many controller players use USB-C to USB-C connection but i do as its 2X faster than regular USB.

hi, if anyone knows if it is possible to roll back / downgrade to an older firmware version please let me know! i checked to see if it was possible in the sony firmware updater but there wasn't an option for it. after a recent firmware update to my Dualshock 5 controllers the inputs are no longer recognized when trying to use the controllers over bluetooth to play PC games on my computer, now the only way the controllers work is over USB which is... dissapointing to say the least. they connect fine over bluetooth and it will show up under my connected devices, just no input from it.

After u doing the update, can you play games with your ps5 controller on wireless? or you need to plugin usb always when u want to play ?

Ive been saying they needed to do this since the PS4 controller days but they never did because gaming with a playstation controller on PC only got popular a year and a half in fortnite and started the wave of other games supporting playstation controllers . I converted to PC 2014 ish which i sold my PS4 but kept the controller to game on my PC , always wish there was firmware updaters for the controller through PC.

good sir, how do you change the volume of the ps5 speakers when using a PC, or is that possible at all?
I'm not trying to use the ps5 controller as my main speaker since I do have speakers and a headset, but I would love to use the ps5 speakers as well sometimes, and it's really quiet. Adjusting its volume, the 'speaker (wireless controller)' doesn't do anything.
