I would love to see a revisit to the A380 since all of the updates. I'm curious how Intel's budget option has improved.
Keep up the great work GN.

its 11 month video but i hope for a response for my question here plz ,
could i buy A380 just for the sake of streaming AV1 ?.. is it worth it for that ?
since i have very low upload speed and AV1 would double my quality with low up speed ,
and the card cost only 120 dollars now so ?

Unfortunately, on official benchmarking test sites, the Intel A380 is ranked in the same range as the GTX 750ti. The pricing of most new video cards that perform in the same level as the A380 is between 50 to 110 dollars, but used prices of video cards at the same processing level is in the 30 to 60 dollar price range. Unless you have a computer with PCIe 4.0, at least 6 cores and 12 threads, with Re-bar hardware and software support, then your overall results and efficiency with the video card will be horrendous, and video cards more than 5 years older will outperform the A380 on much older computers.

So if I’m running an Intel i5 7600 i shouldn’t buy this card cause I don’t think it’s rebar compatible?

It would be nice a revisit of this after all the updates on drivers, it just needs to be better han the 6400 and the 1630. Perhaps close to a 1650.

the most exciting thing for me is the power usage at the price/performance range. I look forward to seeing more low end gpu competition and more gpus only requiring board power

NVIDIA and AMD crap just works on m$ software only. INtel may get the opensource thing right, Exactly the reason why quiet a lot of us are waiting for these things to come out. . Even if you are an m$ fanboy, well makes sense to buy something supported well on opensource drivers, Because the companies wont just one fine morning tell you it is over for the so called driver support. A few frames less is ok, A dead hardware is just electronic waste, Just like m$ now scrapped every CPU before their 8th gen cpus only for win-11. Just use your brain or live in the virtual world controlled by someone else. Just would like to know how well spreadsheets and SPSS runs on this.

I just hope they actually properly support the actual apis unlike the cpu igs that HATE everything but glES2.0 and d311, break and misrender steam chat overlays, and often require warp wrappers just to run things like krita and blender properly

So if I'm looking at this card solely for the hardware AV1 encoder only, not gaming, does the resizable bar matter? I'm not sure the MSI B450-i BIOS supports smart memory/resizable bar.

We all benefit from having a third GPU maker. Will I buy it for AAA gaming no, Will i buy it to use as an inexpensive backup display out (12700kf) absolutely. better than buying something ancient. I hope they stick with it.

I don't understand how rebar can have such an impact that you need it for normal use. Rebar is like having larger roads. It seems Intel has made the equivalent of cars with larger wheels to drive on those roads. I'm simplifying a lot here. However I know that rebar increases the upper limit of the pci lines and cannot have that much of an impact on normal performance isn't it?

Gamers should want Intel to succeed in this market, because it gives gamers more options. Hopefully they are able to catch up with AMD and Nvidia, but might take some time.

The first discrete GPU from Intel? I can only guess you're too young to recall their efforts in the late 90s with the woeful i740 AGP card. If only I could forget some of their abominations from that era.

So, I don't know if someone will still see this. But the first A380's are now starting to appear to be available 'somewhat local'. They are on reputable web shops with prices, but still 'awaiting stock'. They are listed for around 165,- to 175,- EUR. I've been looking, the only cards available NEW for less than that, are a few rx550's and rx560's, and a single rx6400. For just slightly MORE than that, you get a 1050ti. Most of the rx6400's and 1650's start around 200,- EUR here. So the A380 appears to be quite a bit cheaper, so performs very nicely for the price. Not saying you should get it, not at all! But for a low-end part, the performance (even with the bad performing titles taking into account) is actually quite good for the price. The cheapest RX6500 (non XT) I see is for 200,- EUR (and quickly goes up). But for that price, the RX6500 is a good buy, of course. But if I had to choose between a 1650 / 1050ti / RX6400 or pay less for an A380... it might consider the intel one and hope the drivers get better.
If this holds true for the midrange cards, I'm more interested than a few weeks ago.

The ONLY way Intel is selling these products at a low price is with very low margins and it's not how a company wants to be selling products in a market. It's what you do when you don't have a choice. So, don't think AMD is doing bad because at the same price they have a lightweight product. It's what AMD can make and still have the profit margin they need to keep making MORE products and functioning as a successful company. In the end, you need companies to be successful to offer a product as complex as a GPU.

So don't give props to Intel for releasing a product at a price that's unsustainable for Intel and the ONLY reason it's that low is because it's a crappy product.

While i don't expect Intel to ever be top dog in the GPU market, their interesting new approach might make it pretty nasty in the mid range area, especially if power efficiency, lower prices, a good high resolution performance come into play with the 5 and 7 series cards like we get a hint of with the 3 series. Can't wait to see them come to market. I'm sure the A series is going to be rough on all fronts, but hopefully Intel learns alot and the B and C series will be strong.

It would be interesting if this takes off. Intel puts their eggs on ReBar, and honestly it makes sense. They always had good hardware engineers, why would they go with something else ? They already have good CPU market, if they combine that with a good GPU and you are already looking at 75%+ PC parts just for intel. Seems good from the company standpoint, and would bring something fresh to us, consumers.

IIRC there was a Russian review about this where they managed to up the voltage by 20V and get about 50% more performance because intel have massively under delivered power in order to err on the side of caution.

I think a lot of the performance issues you see with older games will be resolved with driver updates, so this card definitely is worth considering if you feel optimistic about that and have a limited budget. I could see it being a real winner for the "my kid wants to stream Minecraft on Twitch and I just want to buy something from Micro Center" market, since you've got the hardware AV1 encoding that will work just fine with the GPU under load. It could also be very good as a secondary card for a streamer who wants a dedicated card to stream at 2K or 4K without having to upgrade their PSU or motherboard. But we'll see... maybe you'll get the 20% lift from F1 everywhere in 6 months once the drivers get improved.

So this looks like, to me at least, Intel took integrated GPUs and put them into actual material metal/plastic box and boosted it a bit. But I can see that Intel can do some magic here, it is there 1st GPU after all. Cant wait for more coming up.

My question is: are this new dedicated Intel GPU hardware capable to be used as multiple vGPUs for multi-guest virtualized environment?
As far as I know Intel haven't yet created such a feature in driver, that's why Im asking about hardware: they might implement this in future.
