Doom (2016) for PC Video Review

Great review and I really enjoy the channel. One issue I have from your review sometimes is that you show the end of the game and it sucks for people who don't want to be spoiled. Anyway keep up the good work.

I was sooo bored by it so I fell asleep....it's nothing like the first 3 games at all,it's a Quake game not a Doom

I really love the glory kill system. It really fits with the Doom Slayer, as he's suppose to be a pretty pissed off guy. Probably even more pissed than how he was in the original game. So I couldn't say there's any flaws with that in my opinion.

I know that I'm in the minority, but I still prefer Doom 3 for its more realistic approach. The new Doom game is good, but its so over the top that its difficult for me to take seriously. It just boils down to tastes...some prefer the more run & gun nature of this new Doom, whereas I prefer the more realistic approach (or attempt anyway) of Doom 3.

cool review, but saying that you beat it the same day you bought it and then 100% it the next doesn't sound very good, sounds like a short ass game.

It's actually a really boring game. And thats the way it looked before I played. The multiplayer looked interesting but it's unblalanced af.

awesome game, too bad i've first beat it on a ps4, and aiming with a stick never felt that good for such a fast paced game... it could use a better assist for consoles, like the call of duty games, but oh well...

I actually quit the game for good shortly after trying it. I got the chainsaw and was pretty happy with my life decissions. But after 2 kills it was gone. That was the moment i laid the controller game to not pick it up again. Once you gave a cgainsaw it's yours. Period. Even doom³ knew that. When first playing it as a kid on easiest setting the chainsaw was a total famechanger. I just ran straight into enemies, chainsaw constsntly rotating. I don't know whether it was a pathdinding issue but right after i aquired the saw there was an imp who saw me charging with chainsaw and immediately turned the other way and got out of there. Or like in doom 1. When i found the chainsaw it was the first time i noticed the insana smile doomguy put on for a weapon pickup. So in short: don't take away my chainsaw!

If you equip savagery, even the longest glory kills only take half a second or so.

I played this game on my sister's Xbox one. The most fun I have ever had with a game.

So I found out that 4 shots from the super shotgun kill a mancubus, but they need 6 rockets from the rocket launcher to be killed. That's just weird

Got this the other day off steam for £7.99 don't believe the MIN specs, I am running a FX6300 3.5ghz clocked to 3.9ghz along with GFX 780ti and 16gig ram, and plays perfectly Geforce Experience tuned up my settings nicely.

Doom 2016 is how you handle a reboot/sequel.

You know, I forgot Doom had a HUD because I've played it with no HUD for so long.

The unlimited mini missiles are so ridiculous. I love it!

"Making the glory kills optional" they are optional you dummy. I've finished the game without performing glory kills and you can still get health if you blow demons to pieces or if you kill them while staggered. Plus health is scattered all around the "arenas" or whatever you called them. You just need some gamesense.

I just bought that game for PC after all that time. I'll give a shot at snapmaps ! Great review !

The only game i enjoyed this gen. multiplayer is highly underrated and its one of the few games that support dedicated servers. Helps people like me who live in a remote island

I drooled over this game.

One of my only complaints about this game is the look sensitivity on console. I usually also have my sensitivity on max or close in fps games, and on DooM it felt like I was always just slowly turning around no matter what my sensitivity was. Just a minor thing though, this game is still badass

this game has THE BEST intro

Doom 2016 was a graphically impressive game with fast combat. In the beginning it can be difficult until one gets the super shotgun. The combat can also be overwhelming from time to time. Running around is then the best strategy. Some drawbacks are the boring Hell maps; thin story; tiresome glory kills and boss fights. People seems to prefer this game over Doom3 though I personally liked the horror aspect of that game.

The amount of stuff,they ripped off straight from the Brutal Doom and specially Project Brutality mods for the classic Doom games,is astonishing.

I always thought the glory kills felt right at home in this game and I never had any issues with them Infact I always thought they were fun as fuck

While I did like the game, the glory kills actually spoiled the fun for me: like you said, you want to avoid them after seeing them a hundred times each, but you need the resources, which makes them an annoyance more than anything else.


The game also gets insanely exploitable once you acquire the infinite ammo rune, which allows you to hang back and hammer away infinitely with the gatling turet mod. You can definitely choose not to do it, but a well-balanced game does not offer cheap exploits of that nature.


It's still a game ten times better than what I was expecting when I heard Doom 4 was coming out of many years of development hell. Pun intended.

You don't have to glory kill for resources tho. If you don't do it the game will adjust and drop more resources for gun kills after a little while. GK's ARE completely optional.

In the beginning of the video, you mentioned that you did not like Doom 3 so much due to its emphasis on Horror. I obviously did watch the video for Doom RoE and BFG, but is it more so that Doom 3 was "different" as in not action based as the game is based upon, or just that you thought the game was inferior overall? I think a lot of people dislike Doom 3 simply because it should've been its own IP as opposed to a Doom game. I would love to know more about the distinction there.


I for one really enjoyed the change of pacing and thought they really had something interesting going there. A lot of games don't handle the horror / action mix very well, and as you did mention in your Doom 3 review, the game did have some pretty piss-poor enemies that weren't scary other than their appearance just because they were so slow etc. But if they were able to refine it and beef the enemies up, I think it'd be very interesting. I enjoyed the gunplay in the new Doom for sure, but I don't think it was as good as the experience in the original Doom games, and I often times became bored. I rarely found myself bored during Doom 3 - except after replaying the game I was able to learn where the enemies were going to spawn which made it a bit repetitive. Other than that, I found Doom 3 to be an underappreciated release simply because of the IP it was under.

Fun Fact in regards to the Spider Mastermind boss if you shoot a BFG9000 shot and then go to the weapon select wheel and stay there for a bit then you can shred the boss in Mere Seconds.

I feel like the glory kills are away of making it so the player has to be more involved a battle staying close to the action and staying or even becoming more aggressive when health is low so a player never falls back on even attempting to hold back in the distance and such. And you do still get the drop from shooting the enemies just less and I think you need ti pull of things like headshots for it.

I personally like this game better than Doom Eternal, but Eternal is still an amazing game.

I had to come back to this review after watching DWTerminator completely drain every ounce of fun out of this game in his video.
I feel so much better now!

One of the best FPS for last gen easily, had such a blast and the enemy a.I reminded me of halo, not too many games do that

Disappointingly underwhelmed after finally getting this back in September.

No interest in even touching Doom Eternal, 2016 still looks a hell of a lot better than what came next.

One of the best Shooters ever.
