Never played the game as a kid, got both recently for ps4 on my ps5 for like 5 bucks, right now i just got the job at the harbor and let me tell you the game is amazing.

Shenmue is a pain in the butt to play with its dated controls and poor designs.

I'm curious why the third game wasn't released for Xbox.

I am enjoying it. But it is probly because I am into segas past gaming history and Japan so I can relate to things like finding a Sega saturn below the TV, the gachapon machines where you collect figures, or reading the Kanji and hiragana/katakana for finding peoples homes and shops.

I know yakuza is similarly set in japan but this game doesn't have as much fighting all the time and more peaceful.

I am so glad I looked this up I was thinking of getting the game but now I'm gonna keep looking for something else

Shenmue 1 & 2 are my most favorite games in Sega Dreamcast, Its ahead of its time, The Story, The gameplay, The details, The best

I'm not sure about picking this game up, it sounds like more of a detective game, something like maybe L.A Noire (which btw I haven't picked up yet for the same reason)
I hate it when I have to wonder around without game telling me what I should do just to find my way
idk, I just have this feeling that for me, picking this game up would be a mistake
I like the Yakuza series, in fact I'm in my playthrough of Yakuza 0 and I'm loving it but by the sound of it these two are far from being alike

I played Shenmue last year for the first time ever, and i cant quite explain why, but i think its an absolutely beautiful game, It somehow reminds me of my childhood, old friends and just seems to bring me happiness and nostalgia playing it. (even though i never played the original) i cant explain why, just an amazing game

No offense, but you had to be over the age of 13 or 15 when this came out. You cant understand games really when your 7 or 8...

This game was so ahead of its time even now games arent ahead of their times, gta4 is the only one recently I can think of that are, possibly rdr2....

Kids these days would look at this game like "mehhh" but have no idea what theyre talking about, they get games that are with the times and are un lucky to not have been raised with this stellar game. Shenmue 3 was a joke imo, a cash grab and garbage... They didn't even wrap up the story that I waited literally 20 years to complete...

1 and 2 will live on in my heart forever, number 3 never existed as far as Im concerned....

Even the gta devs were quoted as saying Shenmue 1 inspired them to make open world gta games and Shenmue 1 will always be the OG of open world sandbox games....

The first, the original, the grandfather of all open world games, no open world games would be where they are today without this title and thats saying alot.

Rather play Yakuza collection

I beat both of these about a year ago. I haven't played Shenmue 3 yet though.

Allways wanted to play it on a dreamcast until now i got it for the ps4....other wise if it came out on the ps2 i would it had it.

Oh and, it was made in 2001

Quick fun fact, Shenmue actually devised the idea of Quick Time Events. It was way ahead of its time in so many aspects.

I was about to get that 4 or 5 for 20 bucks in GameStop until I saw this for 30. Hell yeah I got this. Cute girl with a triforce tattoo and this made my day. Love some Xbox one.

I love these games just downloaded 1 and 2 getting myself ready for 3 I played these games on dreamcast. I was up till six this morning playing the first one. It really just shows when something works it works this game in my eyes is a masterpiece thank you sage for all the memories of me and my brother playing this game in Chinese because the 2nd game on dreamcast was not in English. Just shows how much I loved the story. I really hope the 3rd installment is just as amazing as the last two are. Crazy a little flash back I remember seeing the 1st one on TV back in the day were you would get all your gaming knowledge from gaming tv shows

I loved shenmue 2, when you come to a new place as a stranger, but by the time you leave you have made many friends. And Shenmue 1, where you actually felt like being in 80s Japan. Awesome games, loved my Dreamcast.

Shemmue 2 is my childhood. ❤
