I think shooting in HLG is the better choice - the color gamut is REC2020, which is larger than the D Log M color gamut. HLG also has an extended gamma not very different in dynamic range from D Log M. But the most important reason is that HLG is an industry standard, and most editors have an exact mathematical transform from HLG to either REC709 or HDR standards. No LUTs are required. D Log M is proprietary, and no editor has a transform. Thus, one can only use dji's LUT or buy LUTs that may or may not be a look you want, but must be used.

I got the camera for almost a year now. Yes, it will not replace your big camera, or phone, but man what a great extra option to have in your gear! I like the fact that the D-log M is so natural and not that over sharpened, I don't really like to shoot with it in normal color because it looks more like a phone.

If someone only needs 1 mic, they don't need the DJI Mic 2. They only need to order the Creator combo of the Pocket 3, which they should probably do anyway. That includes 1 mic plus some extras and costs around $150 more than getting the cheaper Pocket 3.

I like the idea of putting this camera on a 15 ft. boom pole and pretending that I have my drone license.

I’ve been on the fence about this camera. How durable is it? I’m rough on gear and it looks like one drop and done.

I obviously don't use mine like you do, but what I love is it takes the friction out of recording. It's so easy to hit record, I don't have an excuse not to anymore. All these that you mentioned plus the frictionless set up makes it almost a perfect camera

Been using mine for the last month or so and really loving it. Your footage with it is insanely clean!
