I'm Sri Lankan, and I migrated in 2016, bringing almost all my earnings to the UK. Now we (my family) are too settled here after buying a house and spending a lot on renovation. I can't now migrate to any other place because of this. The only benefit I would get from all this and paying £2000 tax per month, even without any access to public funds, is getting British Passports for our kids eventually. This is mainly to avoid being ill-treated in every country with Border control/immigration just because we hold Sri Lankan passports. I don't want that same experience for my kids when they grow up. With the rise of the Far Left and Wokism in the UK, life is becoming even more difficult, even from the social environment perspective now. That's another reason why anyone would think of moving out of the UK nowadays.

This was a good analytical effort , but like many UK commentators you do NOT address the elephant in the room. ...why should a rich capitalist country wholly adopt a socialist model for its health sector? Former colonies like Australia, Canada , New Zealand and the USA NEVER followed this example., and , comparatively speaking their health systems work much better. The socialist model of health on which the NHS is deeply flawed. No government has been able to fix it.

NHS. When you give something for free, no one cares about the costs associated. When you buy something for someone else with other peoples’ money, you don’t care how much you spend nor the quality of the product.

The UK has become a ticking time bomb. It's really a matter of 'when' it implodes and the Union breaks up - not 'if'.

But many English people seem oblivious to any of this. Drunk on nostalgia and giddy with excitement that we are free from the EU, and can start to 'reclaim' our lost empire once again.

They just forgot that the world has moved on, and left us behind. We can never again become the 'centre of the world' - those days are well and truly over, and are never coming back.

But the few of us, who can cut through the waffle of nostalgia, and see through the crap and the lies of those politicians who have brought us to where we are today - and who've hoodwinked tens of millions of English people - know that we face huge problems over the next five, ten, twenty years and more.

The UK needs to reset and renew relations with the rest of Europe, if we are to avoid the inevitable happening - the break up of the UK.

Aligning ourselves with America isn't the way to go, and will only make things progressively worse for all of us.

This needs to be talked about and taken much more seriously than it is - both the drifting towards a needless alignment with America; and the potential future break up of the UK.

It needs to stop being treated as 'nonsense' by English people, because nothing lasts forever. And this includes the Union. We English need to stop taking it for granted - and instead, remember why we have it in the first place.

Just as we need to build closer relations with the rest of Europe, and remember why we need to in the first place: to prevent a future war between countries in Europe.

What I don’t understand is, if the UK’s economy has been so mismanaged, what has the money gone to? Looking for an honest answer. Even if it’s immigration, foreign aid etc. have we just lost the money we used to have?

In reality there are thousands of people desperate to get to the UK from Europe and elsewhere (many make hazardous channel crossings). If the UK’s borders were less secure, there would be an enormous level of net immigration. A big problem in the UK is the failure to properly utilise so many highly qualified people and skilled professionals whose abilities are wasted and who have trouble finding employment or a meaningful way to make a useful contribution to our society and economy. I know of so many examples. Housing costs are untenable. Now doctors and professors are living in tiny apartments and terraced houses. We have homeless people with professional qualifications and doctorates etc. We really know how to waste the talent we already have. As for nurses and doctors, many have given up their profession due to poor working conditions, under funding and stress. We now have a shortage in availability

My friend from Greece moved to the UK 8 years ago. He was living by himself in London. He's recently left for Cyprus.

I left the UK, i was from a poor working class background. I worked hard to get educated but then realised that structurally the system in the UK is designed to keep the working class down. This structural inequality means there is no time or free cash for new ideas. This, plus the high taxes and ridiculously terrible services and mass migration of many unskilled migrants who have no desire to integrate made me look elsewhere. I now have a much better life, i never look back and as migrants we try to integrate and assimilate into our new home.

Mass uncontrolled immigration, health tourists taking advantage of the NHS, paying 8 million pounds a day to put illegal migrants up on hotels, two tier policing which favours Muslims over English citizens, a Labour government that thinks they can tax their way to prosperity are just a few of the issues facing the country.
