This proves that the really only good guns to use that are two shot are explosive or the combat shotgun because of the “shotgun spread” like bullet formation.

The best two shot weapon I've found is a two shot automatic plasma gun. Plasma weapons have extremely high base accuracy (142 w/o mods), so they suffer very little from the two shot penalty, and because the automatic barrel keeps the weapon's damage close to base, you actually are doing almost double damage. In VATS the two projectiles don't spread apart at all, and you still get a 95% hit chance to the torso from 50 feet away with no investment to perception. The only downside is that the thing kicks like a mule, but you're probably exclusively using it in VATS anyway.

I heard that a two shot double barrel shotgun, although idk about the combat shotgun, doesn't fire two shells simultaneously, it just fires a normal shell with an extra pellet

I got 2 shot laser rifle. When hip fire,I can see both laser will go left and right, affected accuracy. But when I aimed fire, both will go at straight line. Two shot is perfect for sniper use or aimed fire.

Two shot does not affect accuracy, it affects recoil, so it is good for sniper rifles. It is not good enough for automatic weapons, since you can barely hit anything past first round. Except assault rifle. Two-shot automatic assault rifle is a beast.

I haven't had that problem while aiming down the sight. Kinda wish you would have tested that.

2 shot plasma thrower is probably the most powerful weapon I've had. I like it more than my instigating gauze rifle but probably because it's an in your face take out groups kind of weapon.

Technically that wasn't the same distance because you were standing at an angle facing a 180° surface, meaning the distance increases the further away from a 90° point on the object, I know it's not that big of a change but it's a change none the less.

I did the same experiment with the hand made rifle as this had the most amount of BARRELS to mod. With a longer barrel the accuracy went back to small spreads of shots. Put a longer barrel on to improve the accuracy. Hip firing isnt really done with scoped weapons anyway.

The powerful automatic receiver two shot combat rifle is my favourite weapon in the game, 90 fire rate, 84 damage, 170 range, it's beautiful, that's like a mini nuke every 3 seconds

Have a two shot 10mm and the overseer's guardian, i use the 10mm for clearing ghouls at shot range and the overseer's at medium range when battling against gunners or mutans maybe... very insteresing, thank you.

For my sniper fifle i currently have a .50 recon maxed out hunting rifle, but it's starting to feel a little short, so maybe adding the instigating effect or something.

I'll still keep my 2-shot Western revolver with advanced receiver & reflex sight... That thing does almost as much damage as my fully upgraded gauss rifle (and yes, I have both Gunslinger & Rifleman maxed out).... Nothing like whipping out your wheel-gun and 2-shotting a Mythic Deathclaw or glowing Fog Crawler.

After I gave that pistol all the best upgrades, I named it the Peacekeeper, after the hidden, OP Easter-egg sidearm from Battlefield 1. ;) (Even looks kinda like it)

two shoot would be awesome on weapons that already have bad accuracy but good spread damage. like shootgun, spread lasers , missiles.

The accuracy drop is for hip-firing, it does not affect most guns a.d.s. accuracy.

I could be wrong, but I am almost certain that the Two-Shot effect does not affect VATS accuracy at all. And while many have pointed out that it does not affect sighted accuracy, I still think it increases the kick on the weapon.

My 7.62 splattercannon will bring down a queen Murdock with one clip. The overseers guardian I always have two reload to bring it down 😛

so... today i was plating FO4 and i have a 2 shot sniper rifle and went into a supermutant place, and i sniped it with vats and a critical hit but seems loke only one bullet hitted the mutant cause it said that with sneak critical and critical attack the supermutant would die but instead it didnt... i guees thst 2 shoot weapons are bad with vats and long range encounters

So, two shot is actually best used on weapons which already have a high damage value and either already have good enough accuracy to counteract the accuracy drop or don't need accuracy such as the rocket launcher, fat man, railway rifle, and pretty much every sniper in the game.

When I first got a two shot shotgun I was so happy. I thought there was a bug because I couldn't seem to hit anything. Then I tested the spread. Inside of melee range, lots of damage. Anything beyond that and it's a glorified noise maker.

So I wonder how two shot compares to the other perk of 50% extra damage. Are they basically the same or not. I'm guessing the 50% perk is still weaker but maybe not by much. Hmmmm.

For those of you wondering whether the second bullet comes out of your inventory or out of thin air, the answer is magic. The game just creates a second bullet and sends it in (roughly) the same direction as the first.

If you want a sniper that actually doubles damage when its effect procs, use instigating. If you want one that says it doubles damage but really only doubles base damage while also fucking your accuracy in the ass with a six foot pole, use two shot.
Profanities aside, instigating is the best choice for increasing damage output without lowering your weapon's stats, but it comes with a drawback in reliability. It only works when a target is at full health, which isn't always the case if your companion shoots before you do. Maybe roll with Hancock or Cait if you want the spice of having a companion while still hitting sweet instigating one shots since neither of them can hit the broad side of a behemoth with their base weapons.
Two shot has the drawback of not taking into account the damage increase from weapon mods along with its cuts to accuracy, but it does provide a reliable increase in damage regardless of the target's health.

All you're comparing are the base damage numbers of the receivers. You didn't bust anything.

Although the numbers point to 2-shot not being great, the damage increase makes a lot of difference on the harder difficulties including survival mode.  The one time the 2shot hurt me is the end quest for the silver shroud where you have to do a hostage rescue.

Your test is invalid due to slightly different ranges between you and the target. You shouldnt' have rotated, but strafed.

as an added thing, the weapons it's great on are the weapons with high base damage, that can be modded for fully automatic fire. the recoil increase will mean you can't quite use it like that, but it can be a more dramatic potential damage boost i.e. a weapon with 50 base dmg modded for 90 works out to two projectiles both doing like 70 damage, clearly not double 90. that weapon modded for like 3X faster fire rate, but reduced to 30 damage, will be doing like 40 damage with both projectiles - actually MORE than double the base weapon with the same mod.


it also makes the big boy insane with the two shot mod, since it essentially adds the base damage of the weapon back to it, even if it was, say, reduced by the MIRV mod? each of those mininukes, modified with the base fat boy damage is... intense.

No two shoot is like pulling the trigger two time 4 example if dose 50 it will do two bullets so 50 would be 100

Two shots are great for snipers. The reduction in accuracy doesn't even matter that much as long as your perception is good enough, and you have the right perks. Which if you don't, why are you a sniper in the first place?
