Stronghold Warlords Review - Is it Worthabuy?

So lots of people asking me to do an earlier Crusaders game, so which should I retro? 1 or 2?

This looks good to me. I see they have it on mac, but I wonder if it plays well. I have a i7 5k imac and a16inch i9 MBP. not sure if there are any mac players here.

Stronghold 2 and Stronghold 1 were the best ones ever!

I'm glad that you made this video completely neutral, I'm a fan of the series, I've played all the stronghold games since the first one but I keep seeing people talking shit about this game when in fact it is a good one, though it is a fact that the graphics does not align with 2021's standards, but come on guys, you're not criticizing the game technically, it's just that you prefer nostalgia over something that's new which is obviously not that bad. Also, it was just released a few months ago, obviously they're adding more content in the future, especially new AIs and maps.

Just finished the campaign. It was fun enough to go through all of it. I also felt that game is balanced well. I played on normal and one-shotted almost all missions. Shouldn't be a problem for strategy fans.
I recommend to anyone looking for a quick RTS fun. Just don't expect something amazing. It's 6.5/10 like Mack said.

reviews seem hit or miss, but them damn game looks and sounds fun,, should that not be what matters… even iron harvest got some kinda crap reviews but i said what the hell and got it and like it even when the damn thing crashes my system,,, i think i might give stronghold a try, thanks brother once again for the stand up work

The fact they smash units from different cultures into one faction showed how lazy the developers are. The should learn something from CA's total war three kingdoms.

wow . the UI lost ton of personality . as someone who loved stronghold crusader 2 . it hard to tell which unit is , in this game from what i see .

The last RTS game I played was Red Alert. If I dont count Mutant year Zero.

Dated seems to be a good word for the look of the game, let alone the concept, which I feel, has been done many times over. The gameplay looks fun, but i can't help but look at it, and wish for something more.

Even on C&C I played Skirmish often, the extra freedom was always welcome outside the campaigns in most games of these styles.

This is your first Stronghold game? Damn Mack you missed the glory days of Stronghold then. If you had fun with this, you would have had a blast with Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader back in the day.

Ever since they switched from 2D to 3D the series went down hill.
The best rts castle building games of all time are still Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader.
All the other installations of the series don't even come close. Just one disappointment after another.
2D>3D Firefly, get your shit together.

Stronghold 2 is my personal fav. Crusader 1 is awesome as well but I like all the additional mechanics stronghold 2 added so much it makes it my go to. Check it out sometime Mac its an oldie but a goodie! Crusader as well. Don't bother with stronghold 3 or crusader 2 (my personal opinion but i just think stronghold 2 is way better than crusader 2).

Had to stop playing for a second to nurse my hang over as a random mob just spawned off map and walked into my captured warlords base ...... WTF (Totally agree with all your comments)

I actually refunded this game after four minutes of "time played". What made me refund? Well, lets look at the calendar real quick. Oh yea, it's not the 1990s anymore, it's damn near a quarter through the 21st century. What does this have to do with why I refunded? Two things.
1 - No borderless windowed mode. This has become so basic a feature that a lot of games just make their fullscreen borderless. It's pretty much a given that borderless will be an option in some way these days. But what's worse, the -popupwindow command line doesn't even work!!!!
2 - No key rebinding. Instead of going on a blood pressure raising rant, I'll just simply say this..... WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL

As a dev studio, if you can't get these two basic features into the game, how can I trust that you did anything at all right with the game? No, you're not getting my money.

**There are some games that don't need these features, they're just too simple for it to matter, but we're talking like idle/clicker games at that point

Original Stronghold games were phenomenal medieval games, what on earth this mobile style nonsense?
