If I have to send the link to download or buy to my following, Why do we need these marketplaces? I would sell it separately on a custom platform and take all the money. Providing traffic is the main job of a marketplace. They are taking 60 to 70% cut from each sale, for what? We need them because we don't know the buyers, they provide the buyers for a fee.

Thanks for sharing those insights. Yes it is pretty much a full time job working with coding and building plugins or themes. You are right that it is a lot of competition out there, but I wonder if you know the % in profits of potential sales? If Envato takes like $39 for a theme, how much goes to the developer? So you are saying that "too low cost" like $5 for a plugin is a waste of time? If it is a cheap and popular plugin with millions of downloads it should be worth it? I have given up on creating phone apps and upload them to Google play store - the competition is ridiculous and Google takes all the profit.... Food for thought and revenue?
