Why Sram Drivetrain Is Simply Better, Than Shimano.

Was trying out a 12s GX AXS drivetrain for a llittle bit; whilst getting rowdy the rear derailleur couldn't bounce around enough. This was to the degree in which it would want to hop between gears when I was jumping around. I like that the Shimano rear derailleurs have more resistance on their clutches since they do what they're supposed to.

Nevermind that basically all pro repair people agree that shimano is more durable.

Shimano Altus and Tourney have guide pulleys on their rear derailleurs .

sounds like your arguement in favor of sram is that you like weak clutches.
shimano wins in that category because i can easily just turn it off if I want smooth

The coating you talk about is just color, which no one cares about, u ride a bike, while riding no one will notice wether it's all black or if it's scratched a little. And compare the prices, 400€ for a xx1 cassette is just ridiculous

Sram always confuses me. They make the best high end but also make the worst low end. Even their mid range GX leaves allot to be desired but its serviceable unlike their low end.

This whole video is completely about taste...maybe yes the frailing of the coating could be an issue. But the clutch...sram has actually no clutch (it's just a spring) and the purpose of the clutch is to make the cage NOT move so much (and avoid chain problems offroad)...so...in the video it's doing exactly the job it should and there is even a torque value for setting it properly.

After replacing last week my rear wheel to Industry Nine HYDRA - I also looked at replacing XD cassette from worn + 1 tooth missing GX and my RD to GX 520%... and was going to replace shifter to X01 --- however 2 problems:
1 - accidentally bought a new (2020?) AXS only X01 cassette 10-50T --- very rough clunky shifting = missing ramps when compared side-by-side to 2021 X01 B1 10-52T black = returned and --- super smooth?? Oh other was still rough after adjusting b-gap correctly?
2- surprisingly unimpressed with super stiff and bulky X01 shifter which is gorgeous but I'm more functional than bling - also it's not as smooth and fast as SLX 7100 AND missing the bi-directional lever. Returned.

PS: I am somewhat disappointed with the old Shimano RD cable routing -- SRAM makes total sense with extra wheel/pulley for cable cornering and tension? Innovative.

So - not only do I have MX wheelset mullet style, but also MX drivetrain: SMOOTH and FAST
SLX 7100 12 speed shifter + new Shimano cable; keeping that.
SLX 170 crankset + 30T
and rear SRAM EAGLE GX rd + $400 X01 cassette and 1 yr old KMX X12 chain on full I9 Hydra XD hub/wheel 27.5x36 ! AMAZING.
Just like my MAGURA MT5 brakeset.

I also ordered and will test E*Thirteen's Helix R 12 speed 9-50T 2 piece CNC steel/alloy cassette ? I will decide whether I'm returning the X01 or HELIX R. $433 still bites....and that was a better price?
Also ordered new Sram XX1 copper chain to see any improvements...? I may need to shorten 1 link and keep KMC X12 for my rear 29er/SLX 10-51T as commuter? We'll see. It's quite fun experimenting.

UPDATE.
retract. X01 12 speed shifter AMAZING. with new GX rd. New shimano coated cable.... the softer it seemed shimano slx shifter was losing tension and slipping...... new XX1 chain too and eThirteen Helix R cassette.
Also together with Shigura brake set up with my MT5. More space on handlebar and firmer crisper brake lever and shifting SUPER smooth now. Just needed some TLC and correct B tension and position. Major. One learns

Did you use multiple chains on the XX1 cassette?

here in Philippine the price of NX = SLX and XT, and best thing in Shimano here at my place you can buy it individually, though of course it may cause you higher but at least you wont shell out large amount in an instant

If maintained shimano will shift better under a load.
The xtr Clutch is more serious about its job then xx1.

I’m a weak little poor but my current MTB has SRAM and it’s the first time I’ve been introduced to them, and I fucking LOVE SRAM. I’d used Shimano most of my life but since my newer bike came with SRAM I’ve not looked back. Granted it’s a lower end drivetrain, but compared to the equivalent Shimano it’s like a different world to me. Don’t remember which SRAM drivetrain it is but it’s a midrange one.

Shimano is king.

i found the SRAM derailleur clutch weak, it does the job on retaining the chain most of the time. but on super rough riding or bike park my chain is still slopping super noisy.

Sram is just better in almost every aspect. 11 and 12 Shimano feel like an afterthought. Even SRAM shifters despite missing instant release are snappier and easier to operate.

Finally got an X01 and nope! Shimano is better. Sram so problematic and no matter how much we tune it, it makes sloppy shifts at times. I'll rock it because it came with the bike and it's pretty expensive, but I'm whatever about it.

am bike mechanic and judjing by my giant box full of broken sram parts, shifter, derailleur, brake........

My Sram NX cassette that was stock on my brand new Scott Scale 960 after only 40 km starred making all sort of annoying clicking noises... It seemed like it was't tightened properly even though it was because I brought the bike back to the shop and they chacked it with torque wrench. NX is absolute garbage of a group set. And they make it rubbish to make you buy the more expensive stuff.

I had an old bike with cheep Shimano alivo groupset it worked without issues for more than 10 years.

I would buy shimano group set for sure but it is out of stock everywhere at the moment unfortunately.

Doesn't get much more biased than that. Struggling to move the clutch come on man stop over exaggerating

I trust Shimano for years. Just a matter of opinion.
