I just found out that common sense still exists. I hope my parents could just stfu and keep to their own failure of a life. I dropped out and now I'm making some money. it's not much, but it covers my expanses and still I can save some

I wish other people could just go die somewhere without opening their mouths

I agree with her, it makes no sense but do whatever makes more sense to you

You can get a BA in the USA for 5 grand.

Most people who talk about how "a degree" isn't worth the money are talking about a degree from a big name school, where it costs more.

Going 100% in a new direction without fallbacks is risky. That's why you finish your degree. Chances are if you fail at your newly chosen career you won't have the money to finish the degree.

I’m taking asynchronous classes at a 2 year community college since 2020, my major is Computer information systems, and I really feel like it’s best for me to quit college. After high school, I chose my major cause I love computers, but I really didn’t have a set career path like my sister does (she’s getting her masters in Speech Pathology), but I have a full time job working 6 days a week, and working and doing school work is really taking a toll on my mental health, and I really don’t want to be a quitter, but I feel that my major isn’t what I was hoping for, and I think it’s time for me to withdraw from school.

I dropped out of college because I realized that I don't do a job that I won't get paid a lot as well a job that I won't end up liking (teacher). Now, I am planning on becoming a graphic designer and programmer plus you don't need college for both of them. I should have made that decision five years ago because back then, I was so naive.

I graduated a year early from high school and thought college was great and got a 3.92 my first semester and then it slowly started dropping. I just finished my sophomore year with a total GPA of 2.9. The thing is, I studied more this semester than any semester and finished with a 2.3. College is sometimes just too hard and too ridiculous and not worth it. If you're risking your mental health and money on something that you may not ever use, then don't do it. I know my mom won't be happy with me when I drop out, but sometimes that's the better option.

I have to disagree. No matter what you learn, it's an add on to your skill set. You will work for a business for the rest of your life. It will require accounting, logistincs, managment, finciancing, etc. It;s not a sunk cost, it is an investment in your skillset. The more you build your skillset, the more valuble you are and the more you can negotiate. ALSO, college teaches you how to MAKE finanancial opprotunities for your self. too many people focus on how college affects their job and not their life. Too short term thinking. Don't take this advice.

Right. What about those at state schools? You know, the ones that will cost like 5-15 grand more. Then, when you hit a dead end and want to do more, you have to go back and do it. Here's something to note, with some exceptions, having a degree is better than having no degree. Because often people work in jobs with degrees that have nothing to do with the job. But without the degree, they wouldn't have the job. You continue to look at things through this one lense. With really bad assumptions.

The thing is, nowadays having a degree doesn't mean sh*t to you, but when you have it means you are certified in whatever you are doing.. when you introduce yourself in a podcast or a public hearing, or if you are writing a book about what you are doing, it is important that you give you credentials. You year of experience doesn't give you any title .

These days we don’t need a degree to succeed. It’s just been something people back in the day did because it was the only option.

Our parents pushed us to do college and that’s fine if they didn’t know better or another way. It was definitely my job to show them. There is another way. If you have understanding parents, you are in luck.

I was never a student type of person. I hated school, but I still attended and attempted college and believe it or not. I dropped out in my first week. 😂 I know I should’ve give it more time, but I know exactly what I want and what I like, and that was definitely not it. It just proved to me more that this was not meant for me. And if you think it’s not for you to that is completely fine.

Someone told me once that it’s hard to be creative when you’re miserable. That really stuck with me.

So much money just for a piece of paper that will probably not get you a very high paying job or just be a waste. It’s better to do what you love to the maximum and not follow everyone else can get pressured into something you definitely don’t want to do.

But thankfully, now I am able to freely be creative and not be under any sort of school pressure, or expectations.

My mom forced me to be in college and I hate it. I'm introverted around people and I got no friends, and I dislike these people on campus who are extroverted and gain energy from social events, activities, and Its hard to put yourself out there when people are gonna dislike you. I'm majoring in business administration and I need people to communicate in that field. Its hard being alone and being somewhere you don't want to be. Im trying my best to get through the year, but I also should be mindful of myself as well. I like working out, doing math, working at a job, but this life can be as hard as well. Hopefully I will succeed in the long run, and I won't have to deal with this anymore, but to be once more happy again. 💪✊

More than money I regret of the time I have wasted listening and reading back dated books. I need 2 years more to complete the degree but I have some plans and to turn them into reality I need time and effort but university was an extreme barrier to achieve my targets. But they just keep saying well you’re almost done might as well it’s only 6 months. I feel like college is not for everybody because there are people that didn't go to college because they want to focus on work and helping their parents out financially yes you need a college degree in order for you to get a high paying job that's in your career field. I have friends that i went to school with and they didn't go to college after high school they wanted to help their parents out and started working which is good. But remember everybody's house hold is different just like every parents house hold is different.

It depends on how you think of college. If you're in it to just make money and a living.... its probably one of the least rewarding things in life, but if you are looking at it as a way to learn a niche that you can take advantage of in the future...Its a decent strategy. Get a job/work for someone and see how the system works. It'll help you understand the niche and how to make it better when opening your business. Obviously you could learn this on the job, but thats less likey to happen depending on your connections.

You will need degree if you want to go up. You can be in your field without a degree, but there is a line. Going up the latter will occur if you work hard. However, after a certain point, you are stuck. You will need a degree to get past that line. As they want a certain level of education.

If your afraid of wasting more money then its already to late because you already wasted years of your life for nothing. You can get money back but you can’t get time back🥸
