They REALLY got Elena's character model right.

When I played this game 7 yrs ago and I was a stupid 15 year old boy, I didn’t understand Elena’s point here at ALL and when she came back for him after falling off the cliff I was like “damn right she came crawling back!”
Here I am, playing again at age 21, and this game has a much more profound grip on me emotionally bc I understand both points of view, and when Elena comes back for Nate I feel exactly as he does; totally shocked, feels like he doesn’t deserve it, but is just glad she’s there at all. Love this game

6 years ago, and the facial capturing is still beyond incredible, unlike one of the mass effect titles…(I know there’s a story branching issue they’d have to face)

Five years ago, I used to think Elena was exaggerating. Now I realize how wrong and foul Nathan was to her. I wouldn't allow things like this to happen in my own relationship either. It's actually really terrible.

The animation on the faces in this game and The Last of Us are as good as it gets.

Elena always the buzzkill. Seriously though I kinda get why she’s upset. However, how’d she feel if Nathan asked her to to give up being a hard nosed reporter? “Please give up your dreams Nate while I pursue mine.” The lying was stupid of him. He should’ve said yes there was a Malaysia job because there was.

If you really deep it, Sam is such a shitty person. He blatantly lied to Nate about his situation and gave two fucks about his marriage. 🤣😭

For those who still say elena is in the wrong, let’s look at this from her perspective
Most likely when they got married or even before, he must’ve made a promise or vow to not return to the dangerous, action-packed life he had back then and instead live a normal life for a change. The fear on Nate’s face as soon as he saw elena going through the maps n everything rlly shows that he knows he messed up big time. He straight up lied to one of the people he cares most about but I’m not saying Nathan is in the wrong as well. He wasn’t aware it was all just a big lie and was tricked back into the life he lived all those years ago
So honestly we have Sam or maybe even Rafe to blame for all this 😅

I still get why Nate lied to Elena in the first place. Nate could have just told her about Sam and fill her in on the story before going to find the treasure (didn’t help that later in the game Alcazar was revealed to be not true as well ) This liar revealed trope is what drops this game to only my third favourite.

Me: there was a Malaysia Job about 4 weeks ago
Elena: what?
Me: yes. See 4 weeks ago when Nathan snuck off to steal the cross Jameson called I answered it and I said Nathan’s not here and Jameson offered me to do a Malaysia Job for a handsome price. I soon called Nathan back and told him I’m doing the Malaysia Job and he just didn’t answer each time I tried calling. Finally I got a hold of him and he asked where I was and I said I just wrapped up the Malaysia Job Jameson offered and Nathan forced me to say that he did it. I kept saying no because I did it and I reluctantly agreed to lie to you because he wanted to protect you and keep his promise. Now we’re here. There was a Malaysia Job and the person who really did it was me.
Elena: so all this time Nate you forced Shane to lie?!
Nathan: uhhh w-well
Me: yes all of what I said was true
Elena: well thanks for telling me now hun. But can you please leave the room me and Nate need to have a long talk.
Me: of course
Nathan: Shane
Me: yeah?
Nathan: I’m so sorry
Me: I know you are but I don’t know if “sorry” is gonna save you here

Sam: what do you mean we have treasure to find

Me: no you guys have treasure to find I am not setting foot on another one of Nathan’s adventures after what I’ve witnessed

Nate: look I know your upset with me but trust me on this one

Me: trust you? After what you did? You lied to Elena for weeks and you didn’t listen to me when I said to just tell her the truth!

Sully: hey champ calm down you’ll feel much better after a ride out on sea

Me: shut up Victor I am not going on another adventure with a liar and a thief like Nathan Drake

Sam: hey! Don’t talk to my brother brother like that

Nate: Shane just relax let’s put all of this aside and we’ll start fresh in the morning

Me: i slap Nathan shut up Nathan just shut up

Sam: Calm down Shane!

Me: yep and here’s a parting message i point a gun at Nathan

Sam: Shane No!!

Rafe: let’s go champ

Me: on my way Rafe let’s go!

Nathan why the hell would you lie to your wife about something like that? If you were doing something big like this you could have just told her the truth

This scene resonates so hard for those that lost a partner due to a meaningless lie

I feel bad for Elena, it’s heartbreaking to find out your partner has been hiding something AND lied to you.

Surprised people are siding with Nathan, I can't help feeling like he's kind of a total asshat throughout the game.

I absolutely love Elena in this scene especially when she asks if there ever was a Malaysia job 😬 you cant even defend my boy nate he lied for weeks...put yourself in her shoes

The most touching line in here was when Elene said if you are killed I wouldn't even know about this. That's why I root for her

She is a well written character... i really like her.She was always there to save nate eventho he bailed on her many times

I mean like how did she know that nate was lying 2 her at 1st place. Then she locates him in madagascar plus in the same hotel room?

People who find Elena annoying are not matured enough to know that she's right.

Lying to your partner is one of the worst experiences one can have.

I can always find another woman. Can't always find another brother.

But legit how did she have her return flight so fast lol

Nathan lied to his wife, went out on a wild chase risking his life and Elena had every right to be mad at him. He doesn't even seem sorry when she confronted him about it.

Like drake has been my role model all my life but this scene made me hate him a little

Sam is my friend, Elena is my mom, and sully is our my dad. How my mom would react if we went to mcdonalds.
