For example last day on earth.
U are npc. U have memories but day is reseting all the time. There is no progress. U have old memories. From day before. But how can u be shure that u didn't do this milion times over and over again. Like in movies? Movie character have memories of past events. They do something but at the end u revind tape and this movie character will do same thing again.
If we are in some sort of simulation " one day of living in 2023" we would not know about this.
